Chapter 494: Entering the Silver Willow Tree
“…Yeah?” Rael tilted his head. “As luck might have it, that’s exactly where I was about to go.”
“Right, so don’t change your plan. Also, don’t worry about your, uh… My continent. Your constructs are taking care of the politics as we speak. Don’t worry too much about the politics, honestly. When you learn how to wield your new skill, you’ll be able to deal with many of the disloyal bastards, turning them into your puppets.”
Of course, he was talking about mind control. Rael was not that into it, but if he found someone who was a complete ass, best believe he was going to use mind control on that person.
Anyhow…
“So Zarkul took Melina? Malinali, I mean,” Rael asked.
Kareth nodded, floating higher as if he was trying to avoid Rael. “Not sure what the two will do, but the Space God was a close friend of Zarkul’s. The two will probably revisit his inheritance grounds.”
I see… That makes sense, Rael thought, nodding in confirmation.
There wasn’t much more he wanted to know from Kareth. Sure, he was curious about Lucien. After all, he was pretty certain that Lucien was Kareth’s son.
They look identical, and even their powers are similar.
But then again, if he were to ask Kareth about it, and then kill Lucien afterwards… it would be a little awkward.
Therefore, Rael avoided that topic and watched as Kareth’s figure slowly began to fade. Chronos wasn’t that far behind. However, before vanishing, he left behind a few words for Rael.
“You are welcome to visit my continent whenever you please. I will be waiting…”
And just like that, he too vanished. Now, there was only Vatyra who remained standing with her arms crossed, looking at him with a slight frown.
“What?” Vatyra asked, cocking her head back. “See something you don’t like?”
“Maybe I do.” Rael rolled his eyes. “Not that it matters. Let’s go to the Silver Willow Tree. Teach me the technique along the way.”
“Huh? You’re taking me along?” Vatyra’s eyes widened, ignoring his insult. “Listen here, dragon shit… There’s a roasted turkey waiting for me back home. If it gets cold because you wasted my time, I’m going to obliterate you.”
“Wow… For a phoenix who spews flames, you can’t even heat up a turkey? That’s a little pathetic…” Rael whistled, earning a glare from Vatyra.
She was clearly angry, but she calmed down, not attacking him. Instead, she extended her foot forward, as if she wanted to show him the technique and get it over and done with.
But he didn’t pay attention to it. Rael simply walked past her, heading for the Silver Willow Tree.
“Ugh… You’re so difficult,” Vatyra said with a pout and followed after him. “Just what is up with you, dragon?”
“Do you have a grudge against dragons or something?” Rael wondered. “Because if it makes you feel any better, I’ve not even been a dragon for 100 years. I’m still a newborn in the grand scheme of things.”
Narrowing his eyes, a faint grin appeared on his face. “You’re venting at a baby dragon when you’re an ancient phoenix. Do you have no shame?”
“Hah… You’re unbelievable.” Vatyra clicked her tongue and sped up her pace.
And of course, she did that by vanishing from his sight. However, he was able to spot her mana by the Silver Willow Tree, so in the same manner, Rael moved at the highest speed he could muster.
By now, his speed was at least 43 times the speed of light. Every time he moved, the world disappeared from his vision, turning completely dark.
He wasn’t sure how to control it properly, but in the end, he didn’t need to. Simply thinking that he wanted to arrive before Vatyra was enough. And of course, his vision soon returned, with him standing right in front of Vatyra, only a couple dozen meters away from massive Silver Willow Tree.
“You’re really going to make me come in there with you?” Vatyra asked with a slight frown.
Rael didn’t reply, and instead, he approached the Silver Willow Tree. Its leaves reached the ground, but despite that, he made his way through and eventually reached the giant tree itself.
The inner part of the Silver Willow Tree glowed a dim white. The leaves represented stars, each one painted in all sorts of colors. This wasn’t a sight he could see from the outside, that much was certain.
Even so, Rael was left a little confused by what to do now. He was expecting some kind of giant entrance, but there was nothing. Just a literal massive tree.
Turning to Vatyra, he asked a question.
“Got any idea how to get in here?”
“We’re already in here,” Vatyra replied, crossing her arms. “Gosh… For a dragon, you sure are stupid.” Fresh chapters posted on novelꞁire.net
<Ding!>
<The Legendary Silver Willow Tree has invited you to enter its main hall!>
<Do you wish to enter? Yes / No>
Rael raised a brow, giving Vatyra the side eye.
“What do you know? There really is an entrance, huh?”
Vatyra’s brows furrowed, but once again, she held back her anger, and without wasting another second, she pressed the pop-up.
The moment she pressed it, he saw a faint fiery wave of mana travel inside the Silver Willow Tree. And of course, her body had disappeared along with it.
Rael hummed, preparing himself. Truthfully, he was growing a little tired of Evelyn and her prophecies. She knew something was going to happen, and she most definitely knew that precisely now was when it would happen.
He would go inside, and from then on, he would need to make his decision.
But is it even difficult? The guy can manipulate my mind. I plan to bring Zafira and maybe Lilith here in the future. There’s no way I’m letting those two be around a guy who can control memories with a mere thought.
Even if it was Kareth’s kid, Rael was prepared to kill him.
Taking a deep breath and having made up his mind, Rael swiftly pressed “Yes.”
