Chapter 722: Their First Meeting
For the sake of aesthetics and cringe, Rael didn’t enter Burger’s hut.
Instead, he waited patiently for Victoria to make her way through to this side.
That was when Rael spotted Burger in the window, looking panicked and anxious.
And once they locked eyes, Burger scowled and abruptly closed the blinds before bringing forth the holy middle finger through the front door.
And in that exact moment, Victoria finally arrived, causing Burger to accidentally slam the door shut on his hand before quickly running back inside his home.
Rael stared at this sight speechlessly.
He always thought Burger was some womanizer.
But here he was… acting like a total coward.
It was a bit shameful.
But it was also perfect material for Rael to tease him about later.
Humming to himself, Rael went ahead and didn’t say a word as he nudged at Victoria to get her to stare at the house Burger had built for himself.
And… well…
“What kind of dump is that? Is that where the Soul Dragon’s servant lives?”
O-On the contrary…
“Well, don’t judge a book by its cover,” Rael said, taking a few steps toward the hut.
Victoria followed along.
“Hmm… So the Soul Dragon takes a minimalistic approach in life. I didn’t expect it from such an arrogant tribe. They used to dominate the Dragon Realm alongside the Ancient Fire Dragons.”
Hmm…
Now that Rael thought about it, Burger wasn’t exactly a Soul Dragon, was he?
He was a Soulfire Dragon.
Was that any different?
Well… Rael was just the third wheel here anyway, so it didn’t really matter much in the end.
After all, if they actually do become a couple, they can just quarrel it out some other time.
“Do you dislike minimalistic?” Rael asked, purposefully being loud.
She thought about it for a moment, then shook her head.
“I don’t care much about preference. As a Fate Dragon, I can get used to everything.”
It seemed like she was just saying that for the sake of it.
Still, Rael dug deeper in Burger’s stead.
“What’s your preference then?”
“My preference?”
She tilted her head, her previous mischievous expression returning.
“I guess I like splendor. A lot of riches out in the open so just about anyone passing by would see. I guess I like making people jealous.”
Victoria let out a chuckle.
“That might be a little evil of me, so don’t tell the rest of the Fate Dragons. I covered all the mountains in gold under the pretense that it strengthens our fate manipulation.”
It was his turn to let out a chuckle.
That was a fairly selfish but funny way to abuse her power, and Rael felt like Burger was in good hands.
Of course, so long as he remains faithful, among many other things…
He should be fine.
So finally, the two of them reached the house, and right as they were about to open the door, it magically swung open, revealing Burger in all of his glory.
He wore a nice suit and had his black hair slicked back like some jockey.
Basically, he was the type of guy one would see at a high school reunion.
The same guy who drank 10 liters of vodka the night before.
But on the bright side… at least his suit was ironed.
“Hello there.”
Victoria tilted her head.
“You had a bit more muscle the last time I saw you.”
Burger froze.
“My muscles… It’s because I’m wearing a suit, woman. Now come inside, I have prepared dinner for us.”
“Should we not break the oath right away?” Victoria asked.
“There’s no need. No one caught onto us yet,” Burger replied, and gestured her inside.
Although she was unsure at first, she still entered his house.
Rael followed along too, but Burger held out his hand and shook his head.
“You’re not invited.”
“Are you serious?” Rael deadpanned. “What, do you think you can bed a woman you just met?”
Burger narrowed his eyes slightly.
“Watch and learn, junior. I shall show you why they have a name for my junior brother.”
With those words, he turned around and prepared to slam the door in Rael’s face.
But before he could do that, Rael decided to point out one teeny tiny detail.
“Your pants are on the wrong way, by the way. Anyhow, have fun. I’ll laze around here for a bit.”
Burger’s eyes widened as panic once again descended.
Though Rael wasn’t there to see it, as he had already walked far away from the house and decided to rest on some nearby hill.
Or that was the plan at first, until he flew up to the top of the floating island, where a single tree towered way beyond everything else.
Once he arrived at the top of the tree, he glanced around, being surprised by the sheer size of what he was seeing.
There was a kingdom which was so large, he couldn’t even see its end.
Furthermore, every single floating island was the size of a small city, just like Burger’s.
But unlike the normal elements Rael saw before, these were of all different colors, which were a little hard to guess at first.
Even so, he wasn’t that interested in the other floating islands, as he was more interested in the kingdom below.
There seemed to be some humans walking around, and Rael was sure they weren’t spirits either.
But how could humans endure this level of the Spirit Realm if even he struggled so greatly to get up here?
Rael didn’t understand it.
Though he could always just ask Burger once he was done fumbling Victoria and making a fool out of himself.
“Heh.”
But he did wonder…
Just who controlled this kingdom?
If Rael were to follow the patterns, then the floating islands belonged to Spirit Kings.
Did this massive kingdom belong to a Spirit Emperor then?
“Ugh…”
Whatever.
Rael decided to simply sit down on the tree and close his eyes.
Since he knew the two might take a while, Rael quickly slipped into the meditation state.
