Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 745: Back And Forth

Chapter 745: Back And Forth

“You’re running from me again,” Nyx said, crossing her arms. “Do you still think of me as your love rival or something? You do know I don’t have time for any of that anymore.”

For a moment, Rei’s brows twitched.

Though finally, she mustered up the courage to reply.

“It’s not about that. I’m not as petty as you are. I’m just not used to seeing your smug and ugly face this close to me like before.”

Nyx raised a brow.

“Ugly? Have you seen yourself in the mirror lately? No, I doubt you have, considering your unibrow grew back.”

Rei’s eyes widened as she immediately summoned a glass-like cocoon and inspected herself as though it were a mirror.

But even then, she quickly realized that Nyx had said that just to mess with her.

And so, the two of them locked eyes again, and Rael, who ate popcorn behind a tree, felt as though he was watching some Korean high school romance drama.

A yuri one at that.

Hehe.

“Rael.”

At Nyx’s call-out, he nearly choked on his popcorn.

But after putting it away, he innocently stepped out, meeting her gaze.

“Yes?”

“You’re not a human anymore, and neither are we. We can hear your crunching as though mines are going off, so before you try to recreate one of those movie scenes, you should set up a sound dampening barrier.”

Rael nodded slowly.

“Thanks for the tip.”

“…”

Nyx facepalmed, and then waved him off again.

Like the perfectly serious person that Rael was, he hopped onto a nearby tree and watched everything unfold once again.

“Nyx, I thought you had perished alongside the others on that day,” Rei said.

Nyx pointed with her chin at Rael.

“Didn’t he tell you everyone was revived?”

“…Do you really believe that?” Rei deadpanned, taking a few steps closer.

“Everyone’s souls were erased by the Supreme Beast. Whoever was revived was not the same person that we once knew. The only one who maintained his true self was that boy who could alternate between realities.”

“So tell me, Nyx. Were you killed?”

Nyx just stared at her for a moment, unsure of how to respond.

Rael was also stunned.

Was this some kind of paradox shit in the making?

By killing the Ancient Primordials and creating multiple universes, did the Supreme Beast somehow manage to permanently cripple his enemies’ forces?

If so, although reckless, it did seem like an interesting idea.

Though, Rael felt like it was only a matter of time before he started fighting Ancient Primordials from other universes.

And while he hoped it didn’t come to that, he perked his ears at the conversation below.

“I slept through the battle, so no, I did not die,” Nyx replied calmly. “Several of our friends did, and the last time I talked to them, I felt like they were the same. The only difference was their power, as it was significantly reduced.”

Rei narrowed her eyes, but before she could say anything, Nyx interjected.

“No offense to you, but when was the last time you actually spoke to somebody. One eon? Two? Maybe ten? Listen… I get what you’re trying to say, I really do. I had the same suspicion at first when they were revived, but I can assure you… you’re being overly paranoid right now, Rei.”

At those words, Rei seemed offended as her killing intent soared, nearly blasting Rael off into the distance.

But he held his ground, as did Nyx, who didn’t even budge an inch.

“Stop this, Rei, and come with me. I will show you our old friends, and you can talk to them yourself. You don’t need to fight. No… I won’t allow you to fight in the war that is coming. Just please, come with me and let’s talk. Okay?”

“You must’ve died too if you’re calling me paranoid,” Rei said, taking a few steps back. “You of all people should know the reason why I’m never paranoid. I have eyes in every corner of the universe, and while I might not always be there…”

“I see everything.”

“I know everything.”

“And I don’t trust you.”

Yikes.

Rael felt the pain in Nyx’s stead.

A friend she hadn’t seen in so long didn’t trust her, and moreover… looked as if she was going to kill her.

It was not a pleasant feeling, to say the least.

And from what Rael gathered from the side, he could tell both sides were saying the truth.

That also meant no matter what either side said, they wouldn’t come to a peaceful agreement.

So whatever this was would continue on and on, and on… well, forever basically.

Or so he thought.

“Rei, I’ve opened up my mind. If you’re really certain of what you’re telling me… then please scan all of my memories and call me a liar,” Nyx said.

All of her memories?

Wasn’t she old as hell?

But to Rael’s surprise, Rei didn’t refuse outright.

And after just a few seconds, she approached Nyx and placed her hand on her head.

Rael was immediately engulfed in a powerful burst of energy that sent him flying into the distance.

The two of them made a connection and subconsciously formed a barrier.

Although it looked simple, Rael was sure that Rei was going through millions of years of memories in a fraction of a second, so it might take her several minutes to finish.

But even so, Rael ran back and after surrounding the two of them with a thick barrier, he made sure that no one, even the animals, got near them.

Last thing he wanted was for one of them to turn brain dead due to some loss in focus.

So he waited.

Waited even longer.

Once 10 minutes had passed… Rael started to think that Nyx was even older than he thought.

And after an hour, Rael was sure this woman he contracted might be as old as the universe, if not even older, if that was possible.

Yet despite that, Nyx and Rei soon snapped out of it as Rei took several steps back and glared at Nyx.
