Capítulo 823: Elsewhere
By the time Rael regained his consciousness, he found himself lying in a bed, with a wooden roof overhead. Not to mention, even though his feet felt numb, it wasn’t because someone decided to prank him by cutting off his legs. Instead, it was because Gaia had been sitting beside him, leaning her head on his legs.
It didn’t look really comfortable, but it didn’t seem like she cared much. If anything, despite him waking up, she didn’t even budge. He honestly didn’t think she was the type of person to get tired, but clearly, he was wrong.
Nonetheless, Rael placed a hand over his forehead and began rubbing his temples. He remembered everything that happened earlier, but because of whatever kind of induced sleep Gaia had put him in, his mind was far clearer.
And obviously, he had enough time to realize that although he might be somewhat of a copy, he was still his own person. All the choices he had made since entering this place weren’t influenced by anyone.
Well… maybe partially by money and some other stuff. But opportunities were handed to him, and some power was too. Everything else, though, was all Rael.
With those thoughts in mind, Rael decided to lean back down in bed and relax. If she said she’ll handle it, he trusted her to handle it. But still… Rael couldn’t help but be a little confused about where he even was at the moment.
He knew it wasn’t his home world, nor was it some world close in his galaxy. If anything, he still felt the same overwhelming pressure as before, so that must mean he was still in the Far Lands. Though, the sky was way too bright, and the houses looked way too human for this to actually be the Far Lands.
But right as he had that thought, he felt Renoir outside. Not only that, Alune was also there. The two of them were just out eating some barbecue, and as it so happened, Renoir’s strength seemed to have increased by leaps and bounds since the last time Rael had seen him.
Has a lot of time passed? Jeez… I kind of wish I had someone in my head right about now. My guardian is out there grilling barbecue, Gaia is sleeping, Burger’s about to get married…
Rael let out a sigh.
I should crash Burger’s wedding, maybe.
He was a little bored, to say the least.
But crashing weddings did sound fun, since he never had any friends whose weddings he could crash in the past.
Well… that just made him depressed, since he realized who he was.
Welp.
Rael decided to lie there for a couple more minutes, and once he felt Gaia rustling around, he decided to finally squish her cheek, causing her to slowly open her eyes. Once she did, she spotted Rael glancing down at her.
Letting out a sigh, she said,
“You have a little something on your face.”
“Something on my face?”
Rael sat up, then glanced at the window. He focused his eyes and soon saw his reflection. To his genuine surprise, there was black ink all over his face, almost like some bastard decided to draw all over his face while he was sleeping.
Obviously, no mature, sane, nice, kind, and non-idiotic person would do that. However, Rael knew that there was one person in particular who might do something like that.
“Renoir…”
“It was actually Alune,” Gaia chimed in, letting out a chuckle. “I tried to tell her not to do it, but she overpowered me, sadly.”
Rael raised a brow.
“She overpowered you?”
He would believe it if she told him the whole damn Far Lands fell into a black hole more than Alune defeating her. Still, since Rael didn’t want any drama, and he wasn’t very vengeful, he decided to put Alune on his number one priority list and finally stood up.
He was surprisingly wearing a different set of clothes. Glancing over at Gaia and seeing her cheeky smile, he knew that she was the one who had done that for him. He nodded at her in gratitude, and after fixing the buttons on his shirt, he decided to hop into the shower.
Sadly, whatever shit town this was, it didn’t have any warm running water. Even if he couldn’t feel the cold that much, the sensation of warm water running down his skin was something to die for.
Then again… he could just buy some unlimited warm water hose from the Premium Shop, but he chose against it since he was too lazy.
Nonetheless, Rael finished up with everything, and by the time he stepped back into the room, Gaia was gone. He realized that she was now outside, and she stood beside Alune, whereas Renoir was still actively chomping down on barbecue, almost like he hadn’t eaten in several dozen decades.
Knowing how depressed he was, Rael felt like that might not be too far-fetched.
Anyhow, he made his way outside, and after stepping foot onto the grass, Rael felt like all the stress he had been feeling had washed away. Not to mention, the smell of barbecue was especially pleasant.
Only then did Rael realize that the barbecue was actually being cooked by Renoir. However, he seemed to be a little insensitive, as every time a piece had cooked, he chomped down on it, not giving it to anyone else.
“Aren’t you being too much of a fatso?” Rael asked.
Renoir turned to him and shrugged, swallowing another piece of barbecue.
“Fat people don’t have rock solid abs. On a real note, I’m glad you’re back to your usual self. Depression only suits me. If we’re both depressed, I feel like I have double depression.”
“I have no clue what that means, but sure. Got some food for me?” Rael replied plainly.
Renoir stared at him for a moment, then shook his head.
“The women ate already, and as for you, just eat your own arm. You’ll regenerate it quickly. Now then, since you’ve woken up, I believe I should tell you the next step in our plans.”
