Chapter 840: Combat

Rael was a little bit surprised, since despite him moving so fast, the surroundings almost stayed the same. It was almost like they adjusted to his speed.

It was really trippy, in all honesty, but despite that, Rael soon spotted a horde of goblins just roaming around. They didn’t seem like anything special at first, but once the goblins spotted Rael, they reacted instantly.

To his surprise, the first goblin suddenly vanished out of sight, and once it reappeared behind Rael, it was already swinging down with its shabby wooden stick. Rael thought he could dodge it, but surprisingly not.

And so, when the stick hit him, Rael felt a wave of actual pain shoot throughout his entire body, followed by…

Actual damage, too, huh? Well… let me see here, Rael thought, and then without hesitation, predicted the movements of the incoming goblins and slashed his steel sword down.

The moment it made contact with the goblin’s skin, time froze around Rael as a new pop-up suddenly appeared.

The adrenaline of getting some experience immediately reminded Rael of the first time he ate a pizza, and without being able to contain himself, he narrowed his eyes at the remaining goblins and smiled.

“My walking experience orbs~ Come to me~!”

“Ahem…”

Staring at tens of goblin corpses on the ground, I felt like I went a little overboard.

But on the flipside, I got some boons.

Hmm… 4 free stat points. I guess I’ll just put it all into strength, since my speed’s fine, and my regeneration is too overpowered anyway, Rael thought and did just that.

Oooh~ The attack power went up. Welp. I’d love to be a bit more excited about all this shit, but then again, I don’t want it to be as slow as the damn Memory Record.

So with that in mind, Rael decided to just speed run this. He went from one section of the forest to another, effortlessly killing goblins. With his increased stats and his Bleed effect, he managed to get tens of kills in just a little under 10 minutes.

And once he had killed enough of them, Rael felt a powerful burst of mana appear a few dozen kilometers away from him. It was definitely a much stronger opponent, and if Rael had to guess, that opponent was none other than the Goblin King he was supposed to kill.

So with that in mind, Rael slowly skipped over to where the Goblin King was, and once he arrived, Rael was met with a surprisingly skinny goblin. It had an iron sword and it wore plain steel armor.

Basically, instead of a massive orc, it was just a fancier goblin. Rael respected that, and like the geek that he was, he decided to take this fight seriously.

“Hot stuff, you don’t happen to have enough brains to talk back to me, do you? Would make this a lot more traumatic for such an amateur like myself,” Rael said, then raised his sword.

And to his surprise…

“Are you new to the tower?” the Goblin King asked, then raised a sword of its own. Its posture mimicked Rael’s perfectly.

Rael’s eyes widened slightly.

“You can actually speak? Damn… Hey, do we really have to fight? It says I have to slay you, but maybe we can work something out, no?”

The Goblin King lowered its helmet and entered a fighting stance.

“I’m not your helper. Fight me and either kill me or die.”

With those words, the Goblin King kicked off the ground and closed the distance immediately. He lowered his sword and Rael immediately raised his, blocking the attack from cleaving him in two.

But surprisingly enough, the strength difference was definitely there, and while Rael never expected to be overpowered by a damn goblin, it really happened.

Yet despite that, Rael went ahead and focused up.

Bringing his sword back, he quickly swung it down. The goblin tried to block, yet failed miserably as Rael’s sword simply cut through the goblin’s sword.

And once it was embedded in the goblin’s chest, Rael just stared at the damage numbers in satisfaction.

“AAH!”

Rael brought his sword back and once again swung down. It was as if he was slicing through butter itself, rendering the Goblin King’s armor useless. Before long, the Goblin King was stripped down, and as he just stood like some pile of bleeding flesh, Rael let out a sigh.

“I’m about to kill you, but I want to know one thing first. Is there a safe zone, and if so, where are all the other people gathered? More importantly… How do I skip floors?”
