In that very same instant, the black cat reappeared in the spot where he was, its claws drawn and prepped to kill him instantly.

Only now did he realize that despite the small stature of the cat, the amount of mana it had was actually much more than he had ever felt before, at least not in a monster.

But just because the cat was powerful, fast, and unpredictable, didn’t mean that Rael was helpless.

Yet to his surprise, the sword went clean through the cat, almost like it phased through it completely.

And even more surprising was the fact that when his sword was no longer anywhere near the cat, the cat’s form solidified and suddenly struck him across the chest, sending him flying off into the distance.

The moment his back hit the wall, Rael’s vision darkened, then quickly returned as his regeneration kicked in.

For a moment, he was confused about what these fuckers were feeding the cats. But then he realized that this ability seemed very familiar to him.

This bastard cat had just entered the Mirror Realm to avoid his attack. It all happened so fast that he thought it had just become invulnerable or something. The reality was much simpler though.

But since Rael now knew how it worked, he could go ahead and beat this cat’s ass.

Or so… that was what Rael planned to do.

But just then, Nyx reappeared behind the cat, and before the cat could even react, Nyx dug her spear straight through the cat’s neck.

And while Rael was still staring at the situation, completely stunned, Nyx went ahead and sent a chain of fire down her spear, burning the cat without remorse.

Just like that…

“Oh wow. That thing was level 25. I leveled up a bunch from that. How much did you get?” Nyx asked nonchalantly.

“Zero,” Rael deadpanned with a lifeless look. “You could’ve at least let me get a hit on it.”

“You looked like you were thinking too hard about how to fight it, so I decided to just intervene. Sorry,” Nyx replied. “On another note, we’ll need to split the next one. Otherwise, the bosses will outlevel us, and we’ll need to step down and start doing regular floors.”

“You think so too, huh? Alright. I’ll try to be a bit more proactive next time. Sorry about that,” Rael said. Then, after nodding, he quickly pressed “Yes.”

A few seconds passed in the blink of an eye, and soon enough, Rael found himself in the safe zone once again. A moment later, Nyx appeared too and stashed her spear away inside her inventory…?

“You can access your inventory?”

“Only for the items I got here. Try storing your sword,” Nyx replied.

Rael did just that, and to his surprise, he was actually able to store his sword. He was also able to take it back out. It’s just that it seemed like there was a thin wall blocking him from his actual inventory, and while it pissed him off, Rael decided to just roll with it.

I wonder if I can buy anything from the premium shop yet?

Well… Rael considered the possibility that some of them might have died, but if the difficulty was the same as what he had just experienced, then Rael was sure there might just be one person selling all this bullshit.

Either way, since he didn’t need any condoms or sex toys, he decided to buy some military rations for both himself and Nyx. Then he handed her the rations and sat down on the steps right beside the goddess statue.

Appearance-wise, the city looked just a little bit more modern than the other one. As for everything else, the spawn area remained the same. It was just as empty too. Rael couldn’t see even a single person in the main plaza, and there was so much dust on the ground that he was sure no one had walked here in years.

“This is pretty sad, to be honest,” Rael said as he went ahead and took a bite out of a cracker.

Nyx rolled her eyes.

“Well, it’d be stranger if there were actually people here. I know there’s that one game you have in mind that you used to want to play when you were younger, but in that game you can descend floors. Here, it doesn’t look like you can. Why would anyone stay this low anyway?”

Then she pointed her cracker at him.

“Also, why are you even eating? It’s not like we can get hungry.”

“The moment I drop food just because I’m not hungry is the moment you can start calling me an alien,” Rael replied and continued to eat.

Nyx just shrugged at his attitude and decided to eat as well.

After all, from the next moment on, they were going to speedrun the shit out of these boss floors.
