Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 854 854: A Knight?

“Ahem.”

So yeah.

<Ding!>

<You are being transported to the Boss Floor!>

<Ding!>

<You have entered the Boss Floor!>

<The Boss Fight will begin in 60 seconds!>

By now, Rael had made some considerable progress. In fact, in the last 20 minutes, he went up from the 75th floor all the way to the 95th floor. In short, after he killed this monster here, he would finally meet up with Nyx and Renoir.

The reason why everything went by so fast was because whenever he stumbled upon a boss, all he needed to do was slash it once. The passive bleeding effect literally dealt 65,299 damage per second.

In short, no one could really survive that.

And now that there was just one boss remaining, Rael thought of just ending it quickly and meeting up with the others on the 100th floor.

So he just patiently waited until finally the giant gates opened, revealing the final boss monster before the 100th floor.

To his surprise, it was just a simple boar. A boar that actually didn’t seem special in the slightest. For a moment, Rael thought that maybe this boar was just the appetizer, and the actual boss monster would fall from the sky.

And for once, it seemed like Rael’s hunch was right, as in the next instant a pitch-black sword fell from the sky and pierced the head of the boar. It was a very clean cut, and even more clean was the landing of a pitch-black figure who squashed the boar right under his feet, retrieved his sword, and lastly glanced over to Rael.

It looked like some kind of knight. He even had a cloak and everything. His sword was also on the larger side, which made him look all the cooler.

But more importantly was his strength, which Rael couldn’t even feel properly.

Clearly, this monster here was far superior to every single other monster Rael had fought. For that reason alone, he decided to take things seriously.

And finally, once the dust settled, Rael made the first move. He dashed from his place and arrived before the knight, then swung his zweihander down in an attempt to finish the knight off in one go.

But sadly for Rael, the knight was more than ready for his sudden movement, as without even an ounce of hesitation he redirected Rael’s zweihander to the floor and then quickly slashed at Rael’s neck.

His position was so awkward that he had close to no time to dodge. For that reason, Rael was forced to use a little bit of his Laws to push himself back.

And once he was apart from the knight, Rael let out a sigh.

“I take it you can talk as well?”

“…”

“Indeed.”

The knight’s voice was surprisingly deep, but it also sounded pretty human.

“I see. In that case, what’s up with this tower?” Rael asked. “Wouldn’t it hurt to give me some information before you kill me, right?”

“Killing you is something I wasn’t tasked to do. I’m only here to evaluate your potential, as no matter what you do, you will never be able to defeat me,” the knight replied.

Rael became a little puzzled at those words. After all, how else could he pass the boss floor if not through killing the boss?

Furthermore, what did it mean by saying that he could never defeat it? Who decided that? He sure as shit wouldn’t struggle if he were to go all out. That much was for sure.

Could it just be some overconfident knight?

Well…

“So who exactly are you evaluating me for? Higher Gods?”

“No.”

The response was so plain that Rael didn’t feel like asking again.

But just in case, he decided to ask one more question.

“Then, since you’re so high and mighty, is it possible to get out of this tower?”

The knight just stared at him for a moment, then nodded.

“Everything you can imagine is possible, including leaving the tower. However, once you climb high enough, you’ll realize that there is no reason for you to leave. After all, the true beauty of the tower is the infinite possibilities it exposes you to.”

Rael rolled his eyes.

“What about the people who have lovers on the outside?”

“They too succumb to the same curse,” the knight replied.

In short, Rael felt like whatever it was saying was bullshit. Though on another end, he was also glad that it was possible to leave this tower.

So with that in mind, Rael decided to give this knight a battle that it so desperately wanted.

But instead of using the sword and trying his hardest to land a hit on a much more superior swordsman, Rael decided to go the easy route.

And so, with a single thought, Rael manifested a Heavenly Slash in front of him. Then, with another thought, he launched it at the knight.

Once it was close enough, Rael already began seeing the damage numbers.

-5!

-10!

-15!

“…?”

And once it hit the knight, Rael was left even more stunned.

-50! Critical Hit!

The Heavenly Slash suddenly disappeared, and as for the knight, he just stood there completely unharmed. His armor didn’t have a single scratch on it.

At times like these, Rael felt like he was especially unlucky. And when that unluckiness translated into someone literally having god mode, he didn’t feel very peachy.

After all, he was sure that the knight definitely didn’t send his attack into the Mind Realm, and instead he tanked it.

Even Nyx would struggle to do so. No. Rather, he was sure she would get killed instantly if she took it like the knight just did.

And so in the end, Rael just gripped his zweihander tightly and gulped, realizing that the situation he found himself in was a little bit too unfavorable.

But the knight didn’t seem to care about any of it as he just tapped his sword onto the ground twice, and finally dashed toward Rael.
