Liu Ergou's behavior only deepened Orange Bear's confusion.

"Ergou, why are you shaking your head? What do you mean?" he asked. "Didn't we agree you'd come to discuss a partnership? Why the last-minute change of heart?"

The dozen or so security guards standing nearby broke out in a cold sweat as they listened in. They never would have imagined that this seemingly unsophisticated man actually knew their chairman, and by the looks of it, knew him very well. The thought of having just offended Liu Ergou made their legs tremble with fear. As security guards for Orange Bear, they knew their jobs were the best—the pay was the highest and the work was the easiest. Their salaries were even higher than the average white-collar worker's. The thought of losing this job nearly brought them all to tears.

Seeing the puzzled look on Orange Bear's face, Liu Ergou explained, "Ah, it's like this, Orange. I didn't want to change my mind. I really was here to discuss a partnership with you today! But when I arrived, your manager told me I was out of my league. He told me to scram or there would be consequences! Now I'm terrified and don't dare enter your building, so I think it's best if I leave right away!"

With that, Liu Ergou took Lu Shuangyue by the arm, preparing to leave.

Watching Liu Ergou and Lu Shuangyue about to depart, Orange Bear's expression turned incredibly grim. He wasn't stupid; he knew exactly what must have happened. Someone inside his building had clearly given Liu Ergou a hard time, otherwise, his friend wouldn't be acting this way.

With that thought, Orange Bear turned to the security guards behind him and said in a cold voice, "You lot, explain to me what just happened here! If you can give me a clear explanation, you can keep your jobs. If you can't, then get lost!"

As soon as he said this, the security guards panicked. Speaking over one another, they quickly recounted the entire incident. As Orange Bear listened, his expression grew even darker.

After getting the full story, Orange Bear immediately took out his phone and made a call.

"HR, get the president's brother out here right now!" he barked into the phone. "He has three minutes. If he's not here in three minutes, he can face the consequences!"

He hung up and turned to Liu Ergou, his face full of apology. "Ergou, I'm so sorry. I never imagined something like this could happen in my company. I really had no idea! But don't worry, I promise I'll give you a proper explanation for what happened today!"

Liu Ergou said nothing, merely standing there quietly.

Three minutes passed in the blink of an eye. Soon, the bald man came scurrying out of the building, his short legs moving quickly.

"Boss Orange, I'm here, I'm here!" he panted. "What did you need me for?"

Watching the breathless bald man, Orange Bear simply pointed a finger at Liu Ergou. "Nothing much. I just want to know what happened between you two. Care to explain?"

Following the direction of Orange Bear's finger, the bald man saw Lu Shuangyue and Liu Ergou. He froze for a moment, then his heart sank.

What the hell? This bumpkin actually knows Orange Bear for real?! If that's the case, aren't I completely doomed?

As the thought crossed his mind, fine beads of cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.

"Boss Orange, please, let me explain!" the bald man said frantically. "Today was just a misunderstanding... I..."

Before he could finish, Orange Bear cut him off. "Cut the crap! I asked you what happened!"

Interrupted, the bald man glanced at Orange Bear's furious expression, then at Liu Ergou and Lu Shuangyue. Suddenly, he seemed to have an epiphany. The panic vanished from his face, replaced by a look of pure confidence.

"Oh, you mean these two, Boss Orange?" he said. "He's just a country bumpkin. What makes him qualified to meet you? So, I had security send him away. Is there a problem with that?"

He finished with an air of righteous indignation, looking so self-assured that for a moment, Orange Bear wondered if the bald man was the real chairman of the company. Orange Bear was so stunned he didn't know what to say; he just stood there, dumbfounded. Seeing this, the bald man's heart swelled with joy.

He must be stunned by how beautifully I handled this, he thought. He must be thinking about how to reward me right now! At the very thought of a reward, the bald man's eyes lit up.

While the bald man was lost in his wishful thinking, the stunned Orange Bear finally came to his senses. He stared at the man before him, unable to contain his fury any longer.

"Good for you!" he bellowed. "Running things with more authority than I, the chairman, have!

"It looks like in no time at all, you and your sister, the president, will be ready to take over my company, is that it?!

"Well, let me tell you something! Get out of here, right now! You're fired!

"Get as far away from here as you possibly can!"

The bald man clearly didn't register the words. "Boss Orange, there's no need to reward me! It's my duty. I would never allow such riffraff into the company! You can rest assured I will continue to do my best in the future!"

Standing to the side, Liu Ergou couldn't help but let out a chuckle. This guy is a real daydreamer, he thought, truly at a loss for words.

Orange Bear was also taken aback by the bald man's response and was momentarily speechless. After a few seconds, he finally snapped. "I said you're fired! I'm telling you to scram! Do you understand?!"

He then turned to the security guards. "You lot, help him get lost! I never want to see his face again!"

The security guards didn't dare hesitate. They immediately grabbed the bald man and began to drag him away. Only then did the reality of the situation finally hit him. Orange Bear was firing him, not rewarding him.

Panic seized him. "Boss Orange, you must have made a mistake!" he yelled frantically. "How can you fire me? You should be kicking *them* out! Boss Orange!"
