Chapter 142: How to understand a king.

Crrrk~

"Sofia" reached out and grabbed the doorknob before swinging the door open.

Right behind her were Dorian and his people, their gazes all fixed on the door as it opened a new room for them.

Inside this room, even before they walked in, they could already see a man seated on the decorated chair, his legs crossed with a small book in his hands.

On one side of his face was a monocle, complementing the robe he was dressed in and the fabric hat on his head.

He had long black hair that was gathered in a way that allowed it to fall at the front of his chest.

Additionally, he wore multiple gold chains, each crafted with the highest quality materials.

Right at the side of the room was another elf maid with different coloring, her head also bowed in respect as the guests arrived.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, the man lifted his head from the book he was reading and focused his attention on them.

"I have brought the guest," Sofia uttered, before taking a big step to the side in order to give way for Dorian to walk through.

With Lili perched on his shoulder and Seraphina clinging to him like his clothes, Dorian walked into the room and sat in the opposite chair, with space in the middle for the decorated table.

Though he didn't look around too much, his eyes did catch a couple of things, such as the strange-looking sword hung on the wall, and also the paintings of different races hung at every corner of the room.

One race caught his eye though: the demi-humans, also considered closest to demons.

Now seated on the chair, with Maria and Seraphina flanking both sides while Ciel and Flare stood at the back of the chair as protection, Dorian finally spoke.

"You must be Your Majesty." He bowed his head, causing the girls to do the same as well.

"Yes, I am. I must say, I am surprised you would actually bow your head, considering you refused to do so to my messenger," said the man as he dropped the book he was reading onto the center table.

Though his head was still bowed, Dorian managed to look up a bit, slightly hiding the creepy smile on his face.

"It was beyond my power; even then, I struggled to do so."

"Oh? Should I assume there is a reason for this?"

"Yes, of course. It's simple really: I am just a Dragon Monarch!"

His tongue danced in a crazy manner at the revelation, knowing this was going to be a massive turning point for the conversation.

For one, he didn't plan on dropping such a bomb so soon, seeing as the king most likely already knew about the fact he had a dragon.

But in order to increase his chances, with or without his merchant title skill, this was by far the best way to do so.

While the so-called king had his jaw dropped in shock, "Sofia" was somewhat calm, but the disbelief could not escape her expression.

This man, seated in her mansion, was a Dragon Monarch? How is that even possible to begin with?

Her thought was soon spoken through the mouth of the false king.

"Are you taking me for a fool? In order to become a Dragon Monarch, you need to rule over an entire army of dragons. There is no way a human could do that; no dragon would willingly do something like that, even if there are that many left."

Dorian's grin widened even more; this time, he didn't seem as though he wanted to hide it.

'Oh? What is this? This man is knowledgeable about dragons; the capital does know about them like I thought. Hold on a sec.'

[The skill Analysis is now active.]

[Name: Alexandra.]

[Class: Mage, Master ranked.]

[Note: Not the current king.]

'So she decided to make her bodyguard the false king here, haha, this is too good.'

Dorian slightly looked at Revina, noticing the slight frown she was giving Alex.

'From the looks of things, it looks like they already know they just slipped important information. It's pointless to put up an act from now on. I am putting all the cards on the table because if there is one thing I am certain of, it's never to trust a king that feels cornered.'

Boom!

Alex suddenly stretched his hand forward, a dancing snake immediately popping up and charging towards Dorian.

At the same time, the elf maid who was standing at the side had reached out, pulling out a knife, probably to stop anyone from interfering; her target was Maria.

However, their plan failed badly.

Maria had grabbed the maid's hand and pinned her to the ground, while the spell Alex had launched at Dorian was snuffed out just from Dorian closing his fist.

The room fell into silence, all while "Sofia" remained standing still, as though none of it concerned her.

Then he spoke.

"Interesting," Dorian waved his hand to get rid of the smoke. "Now, why would the King of Lumberg be so quick to kill me over simple information like the Dragon Monarch?"

"H-how did you snuff out my flames like that? That is an advanced fire magic."

"My fire magic is stronger. I am an elemental mage, you see, just like you."

Alex had an anxious look on his face.

"The report said you were a Summoner."

"Oh right, my bad. Then I'm that too."

Alex ran out of words to say. It was bad enough he was still trying to come to terms with the fact this man just canceled his spell with one hand; now he also had to hear there was a chance he had two classes as well.

At the end of the day, he couldn't help but look at "Sofia," as though begging for help.

Seraphina took it upon herself to reach for a napkin in her pocket and help Dorian clean his palm so he wouldn't end up staining himself later on.

Dorian allowed her to do so; he had no reason to refuse anyway.

In that same moment, he looked at "Sofia," both of them locking gazes.

The only difference was, Dorian had a grin on his face, as if aware of something deep, while "Sofia," or rather, Revina, had a frown that knew exactly what Dorian was thinking.

Soon she sighed.

"Enough, Alexandra. He knows." Revina swayed her head for him to move back and approached the chair.

"Your Majesty, are you sure?" Alex asked as he stood up.

"Your Majesty?!" Both Seraphina and Maria shouted in unison, shock etched on their faces.

As soon as Alex stood up, Revina settled onto the chair, crossing her black-tighted legs, and pressing her back fully against the chair with her arms spread out regally.

"Dorian Aurelian, was it? I am sure you hear this a lot, but you are quite the strange man. You knew from the start that I was the King, didn't you?"

"I knew? Me? Oh, never. I am just as shocked as everyone here. You are the King? B-but you're a woman."

Maria and Seraphina knew he was lying, but yet, the shock didn't once leave their features.
