God of Pets

Chapter 323: Tiger's Den

Yang Lang watched as Chen Guan, standing atop the serpent's head, thrust his spear forward and used the foolish bird in his hand to block the battle spear.

His gaze swept over to the eerie eyes of the Ghost-Eyed Python, and suddenly he felt his mind go blank, realizing something was wrong, but it was already too late to do anything.

Chen Guan's battle spear leaped over the foolish bird and pierced through Yang Lang's head, pinning him directly to the ground.

Yang Lang died on the spot without even a struggle, his body went limp, and the foolish bird in his hand also fell down.

Kuang Liu and the others were all surprised, somewhat puzzled as to why Yang Lang suddenly seemed like an inexperienced fledgling without any combat experience, being killed by Chen Guan in just one strike.

Chen Guan collected the Ghost-Eyed Python and then gathered all the belongings from Yang Lang and the other deceased cultivators.

Their pets all died along with their masters, and the secret treasures, elixirs, money, and other items they carried did not disappear with their owners and now belonged to Chen Guan.

Chen Guan realized that even these cultivators, who could be considered top-level, were mostly not wealthy, lacking much spare money, with only one or two noteworthy secret treasures, and not many elixirs.

Someone like Kuang Liu, who was covered in high-grade secret treasures, was a rare exception.

Cultivation itself is extremely resource-consuming, and coupled with the need to feed pets, even the young masters from prominent families generally struggle to have extra money to acquire various secret treasures, mostly obtaining one or two practical weapons or defensive secret treasures, while other items were quite ordinary.

Nevertheless, these one or two items were top-quality among top-quality, no worse than the Profound Celestial Infinite Divine Armor in value.

Chen Guan only kept these top-quality items, even letting go of those rare and scarce secret treasures; small pieces were kept, larger ones were simply abandoned, primarily because they were not easy to carry away.

Even so, Chen Guan was carrying several unparalleled secret treasure weapons, and a few pieces of unparalleled armor and the like, all packed into a large bundle.

"Daoist Brother, let my big buffalo carry it for you?" Zhang Chunxiang said as she approached.

"That's workable." Chen Guan placed the bundle on the big buffalo's back.

He also had a pet, but in such a place, summoning a pet specifically to carry things seemed like a waste of combat capability, and in crucial moments, he would have to summon it back first before summoning the pet he needed, which might not be timely in case of an emergency.

The foolish bird wandered back into the valley, pecking at seeds on the ground without any awareness of danger, its intelligence indeed too low.

Chen Guan looked at Zhang Chunxiang, and understanding his meaning, Zhang Chunxiang shook her head and said, "My big buffalo has already passed the test before."

"Kuang Liu, do you think your Persian cat can handle that foolish bird?" Chen Guan turned to Kuang Liu and asked.

"What do you mean?" Kuang Liu stared at Chen Guan in disbelief.

"Aside from you, there shouldn't be anyone else who needs it, so let your Persian cat try to kill it." Chen Guan said.

His suspicion confirmed, Kuang Liu still couldn't believe it: "Has your Warring States already passed the test?"

Chen Guan nodded: "By luck, it passed earlier; you can wait a while before you kill it to avoid any misunderstanding that it's interfering with the battle of the wolf's pet, better be cautious."

Hearing what Chen Guan said, Kuang Liu and the others all showed strange expressions.

Yang Lang plotted for a long time intending to target Chen Guan but had no idea that Chen Guan had long since passed the test.

Now it seems that all of Yang Lang's actions were rather purposeless.

He caused the death of nine cultivators and lost his own life, yet his tactics were completely useless.

Executed numerous impressive maneuvers only to end up futile, losing even his life.

After waiting for a while, Kuang Liu finally sent the Persian cat into the valley to hunt that foolish bird.

The Persian cat was indeed a bit too weak; even if the foolish bird was so dumb, its teeth and claws couldn't cause fatal wounds on the foolish bird for quite some time.

Fortunately, the Persian cat was very agile, continually attacking the foolish bird, and after more than an hour, it finally managed to kill the foolish bird.

It was said to have killed the foolish bird, but in reality, the foolish bird died from excessive bleeding.

After completing the task, Chen Guan and the other two left the area, as there was no need to interact with the other cultivators here.

After the test time ended, a small whirlwind appeared again, wrapping the Persian cat, Warring States, and the big buffalo.

The three of them each received a 0.1 growth rate increase, and Warring States, which originally had a growth rate of just 1.14, now had a growth rate of 1.34, similar to the growth rate of an ordinary Secret Spirit.

"I wonder how many rounds of such tests there will be. If there are a total of ten rounds, wouldn't the growth rate of Warring States reach beyond 2.0?" Chen Guan thought delightfully to himself.

"The third test is beginning… climb Tiger Mountain with your pet… find the Tiger's Den entrance…" A mysterious voice rang out again.

"It only mentioned climbing the mountain but didn't specify where the Tiger's Den is; the Tiger Mountain is a vast mountain range, and finding a small cave entrance might take a month if you're unlucky, right?" Kuang Liu pondered. "Fortunately, this time there's no time limit."

"Let's get to Tiger Mountain first; this stage likely won't be simple." Chen Guan thought aloud.

The three headed towards where Tiger Mountain was located. It seemed not far, but it took them over seven hours, riding their pets and mounts, to reach the foot of Tiger Mountain.

Up close, Tiger Mountain was even more awe-inspiring, with its sheer height and expansiveness stretching for miles, with no end to the mountain's ridges in sight.

Along the way, although they encountered some Secret Spirits, they did not dare to engage in a brutal massacre here, opting to bypass those Secret Spirits instead.

"This mountain might stretch out for thousands of miles; my earlier estimate was conservative. Relying only on luck, an ordinary person might never find it in their lifetime," Kuang Liu said to Chen Guan. "With your extraordinary luck, wherever you say to look, we should be able to find it."

Chen Guan shook his head: "I am just like you, with no extraordinary luck; previous events were mere coincidence, relying on luck won't work now."

Zhang Chunxiang surveyed Tiger Mountain and said, "If it's only about testing luck, there wouldn't be a need for such complexity. Since such a test is arranged, there should be a method to successfully complete it, and we are not meant to scour the mountain blindly."

After a pause, Zhang Chunxiang continued, "I understand a bit about the Feng Shui Secret Skill, which might allow us to deduce some of the mountain's lines and feng shui treasure acupoints, but whether those treasure acupoints are the Tiger's Den is beyond my knowledge."

"It's better than us searching aimlessly like headless chickens." Chen Guan laughed.

Zhang Chunxiang nodded slightly, surveying the mountain's terrain and said, "Typical Feng Shui Skills often regard mountain ranges as Dragon Veins, and certain special locations on Dragon Veins are called treasure acupoints, incredibly auspicious spots within a mountain range. For example, the location of the dragon's eye is a treasure acupoint."

"Tiger Mountain, unlike ordinary mountains, should not have its treasure acupoint positions judged by Dragon Veins but seen through the eyes of a tiger. From my judgment, there are roughly seven places that could be considered treasure acupoints."

"By geographic division, they can be categorized into the tiger's head, tiger's spine, tiger's paws, tiger's heart, tiger's tail, tiger's yang, and tiger's eye. These places will surely have treasure acupoints, but some more obscure treasure acupoints require deeper exploration into the mountain range, with further judgment based on mountain and water veins."
