The Heavenly Pool Forbidden Zone was a place where sky and earth lay broken, split into countless micro-worlds that looked like black fragments. Within the raging turbulence of spacetime, these micro-worlds were torn apart, only for new ones to be born within the chaotic qi. The cycle of destruction and creation never stopped.
This was one of the most dangerous places in existence. The ever-present spacetime vortex could shred even a mythical being if they were careless. Only those who had reached the level of titan or higher could survive here.
Within the vortex, a trembling passage opened, spanning hundreds of thousands of kilometers. Multicolored light flared, and one figure after another stepped through.
The moment they emerged, they burst out in every direction. To the eye, they became streaks of light racing across the void. Hundreds of humans shot southeast. The Eternal Golden Divine Race went northwest, while the Shadow War God Race sped southwest.
Once the three peak civilizations departed, the entrance of the passage trembled once more. Silver light spread across the passage, and from within, two Heavenly Silver-Winged Ants slowly appeared.
Dalimos stood tall in the turbulent spacetime, its late-stage true spirit aura flaring outward. A harsh screech, like metal grinding on metal, escaped its mouth as it said, "Brother, didn't their scouts already confirm where the chaotic divine object would appear? Why are they all heading in different directions?"
The other Silver-Winged Ant stayed next to Dalimos. Its true form was as mighty as a primordial star, and its eyes were cold and resolute. "Because of the environment here. Spacetime overlaps, and the world fragments are scattered. The chaotic divine object's emergence that the scouts had witnessed appeared in three different places at once–each hidden within a fold of spacetime, each in a different world. Determining which one is real... depends on luck."
Dalimos hesitated. "If one phenomenon is true and the other two are false, which path should we take?"
"We split up. Dalimos, follow the Golden Divine Race. I'll go after the human race."
The Silver-Winged Ant's aura flared. It then dissolved into countless silver spots of light and vanished.
Dalimos nodded. It flickered and turned into a streak of silver light, shooting into the depths of spacetime.
As soon as the Silver-Winged Ants left, the passage trembled again. Hundreds of powerful auras poured in, each at the level of titan or higher. Among them were the three leaders of the Divine Star-Ring Race.
The seven top civilizations' strongest members had arrived.
As they entered, they froze for a moment, surprised. They could feel the lingering traces of the three races scattered through the turbulence of spacetime.
Wrapped in starlight, Ximen Jainfeng whispered, "Three directions. I'll pursue the human race. I want you two to choose a different direction and trail the other races, Bota. Once we find the true place of emergence, send word immediately through starlight transmission."
The two Starry Sky Dragons nodded. "Understood."
They let out thunderous roars as they hurled themselves into the spacetime turbulence.
The other civilizations moved quickly. Unlike the Star-Rings, the rest didn't split their races into three groups. Rather, they simply chose a direction and committed to it.
The Golden-Scaled Dragon-Mark Race and the Parti Totem Race sped after the humans. The Purple Big Dipper Lightning Race turned into blinding arcs of lightning and went after the Eternal Golden Divine Race.
The Fridi Race, Estrela Race, and Blood-Red Horned Race each unleashed their powers and flew toward the path that the Shadow War God Race had taken.
After their powerful auras faded, the passage trembled again. Tens of thousands of multicolored lights flickered as a dense wave of powerful aliens appeared. However, the moment they sensed the scattered auras drifting in different directions through the turbulence of spacetime, confusion spread among them.
Hadn't the direction of the chaotic divine object's emergence already been confirmed?
A towering alien who looked like a massive bear clad in red armor stepped forward, its aura at the peak of the ancient level. Furious, it growled, "Those top-level civilizations are shameless. They've gone and disrupted the traces of the three peak races' auras!"
"Agreed," another alien spat, and the others glared in anger as well.
However, anger meant nothing here. On the Ancient Battlefield, strength decided everything. Having a primordial-level being wasn't the only difference between top-level civilizations and merely powerful ones. The depth of their inheritance was also a factor.
When a primordial-level being appeared within a race, the power it drew from the source of principles would spread back to the entire civilization. Their cultivation methods would rise to a higher grade, and every ability would grow stronger. The difference between civilizations essentially came from every aspect, not just in the number of strong individuals they could field.
Faced with the confusion of disrupted auras, the aliens hesitated briefly. They each chose a direction, turned into streaks of dazzling light, and vanished into the depths of spacetime.
They didn't chase after the chaotic divine object itself. Once targeted by peak civilizations, a divine object of that quality could never be held, even if someone managed to grab it by luck.
Their true goal was the moment the chaotic divine object emerged. When the world that nurtured it collapsed, countless resources would scatter across the void. Born from the dissipating power of the chaotic divine object, they would have faint traces of supreme chaotic power.
They weren't as powerful as the divine object itself, but they were still priceless. For these aliens, securing even one would mean incredible fortune. The cultivators from the divine region who had followed Chen Chu in had the same goal. Their eyes, too, were fixed on those scattered treasures.
Within the turbulence near the entrance, hundreds of heavenly-king-level and higher beings stood in the Divine Firmament Palace. Their gazes were fixed solemnly on the far end of the hall, where Chen Chu sat on the throne with a thoughtful expression.
He studied the glowing sphere floating in midair. Inside the sphere was the projected scene of the chaotic divine object's emergence, recorded by a being on the level of ancient titans.
The scene showed a vast azure sea that was as clear as crystal, where chains of pearl-like islands stretched out under a cloudless sky. On the Blue Planet, it would have been a paradise fit for a holiday. Now, however, the waters between the islands churned violently, forming a vortex thousands of kilometers across. Beyond that was another world—a chaotic void filled with a turbid aura. Within it floated a massive slab of gray rock.
The massive bronze bell resting on that stone captured everyone's attention. They were only witnessing it through a blurred projection, keeping its details indistinct. Nevertheless, every heart in the hall sank as soon as they saw it.
Chen Chu felt it most of all. In that instant, he had the illusion that he was staring into the chaos itself. He didn't just see a mere bell; he saw the Sea of Chaos containing a temporal abyss. It was heavy, boundless, and seemed capable of suppressing all of the heavens.
In a serious yet excited tone, Shi Feirou said, "That divine object may be a chaos-level treasure, Brother Chen."
Chen Chu's gaze sharpened with interest. "Chaos-level?"
Shi Feirou nodded. "The difference between a chaos-level treasure and a top-level one is completeness. A chaos-level treasure holds a fully intact chaos principle and carries its own unique rhythm. I've seen that rhythm before, back when I was with my master. There's no way I could mistake it."
A chaos-level treasure, huh...Golden-white lightning flickered in Chen Chu's eyes. His back straightened as a terrifying aura spread from him.
If it had only been a top-level treasure, he wouldn't have cared too much. He would take it if the chance came. Otherwise, he wouldn't risk exposing his strength. A chaos-level treasure was different, though.
From the looks of it, it was an offensive type. A supreme resource like this was rarer and stronger than a world-creation-level divine weapon. One was refined by a primordial being, while the other was nurtured by chaos itself; their limits and potential were on completely different levels.
Crack!
The space around Chen Chu shattered like glass, unable to withstand even the faintest leak of his aura. Black rifts spread through the air like a web of cracks. Reaching into the void, he drew out a five-meter-long halberd. Its dark violet shaft pulsed with strands of blood-red light.
Chen Chu then gazed at Shi Feirou intensely. "Feirou, take my Eight Desolations Halberd back. Work with Shi Hong and the others to seal off the entrance of the forbidden zone. Afterward, join forces with the Black-Armored Imperial Guards. Even if the three races' guardians appear, you should be able to hold them off long enough for me to get the object."
Because the phenomenon had appeared in three different places at once, Chen Chu couldn't be certain which one was real. Blocking the entrance was his contingency. If the humans' location turned out false and the chaos-level treasure fell into the hands of the Shadow War God Race or the Eternal Golden Divine Race, he could simply take it from them.
Shi Feirou froze.
Chen Chu's eyes turned cold, and his tone deepened. "This treasure will be mine. I don't care if we're facing a peak race or a top civilization. I'll kill anyone who stands in my way."
Hide his strength? Keep a low profile? Ridiculous. For the sake of the bronze bell, Chen Chu would cut down gods and buddhas alike.
The True Radiant Sky Emperor's instructions were thrown straight out of his mind. With the bronze bell in his grasp and the Dragon Emperor becoming a primordial, he was confident he could escape even a primordial sovereign. Once his human form also became a primordial in a month or two, he would be strong enough to kill even a sovereign.
Shi Feirou felt the unshakable will radiating from Chen Chu. Even though she felt a bit hesitant, she simply smiled bitterly and stepped forward to accept the halberd.
Boom!
The moment Shi Feirou took the halberd, the ground beneath her feet caved in with a thunderous crash. The divine palace's stone floor split apart, cobweb-like cracks racing outward in every direction.
"So heavy! Its power is domineering!" Shi Feirou's heart trembled. It was as if she weren't holding a halberd, but a Great Thousand World that was brimming with destructive force. It felt like a weapon that could split the heavens, tear open chaos, and crush everything in its path.
However, Shi Feirou herself was no ordinary cultivator. Standing just short of the peak of the true spirit level, the halberd couldn't overwhelm her. Golden sequence chains flared along her arms as she took control of its crushing might.
With the halberd in hand, Shi Feirou nodded slightly at Chen Chu before cutting through the sea of black mist. She plunged into the turbulent spacetime and vanished among the drifting fragments of darkness.
Once she was gone, Chen Chu turned to the figure standing below, dressed in azure Daoist robes. "Divine General Zhulu, how far is it to that cluster of worlds?"
The ancient being who had scouted the phenomenon bowed. "If we follow the route, City Lord, we should arrive in about half a day."
"Half a day?" Chen Chu nodded. "Very well."
