Running A Cemetery in North America

Chapter 191: There Is More Than One Tomb Guardian

In the Buddhist and Daoist teachings, newly created Buddha statues and divine statues require not only consecration and empowerment but also a special and important ritual.

The Buddhist sect calls this the 'encapsulation'.

Daoism calls it the 'embedding'.

The Buddhist sect's statues have a square opening made at the back, into which are placed the five metals (gold, silver, copper, iron, tin), the five woods (pine, cypress, white sandalwood, red sandalwood, bodhi wood), the five grains (rice, wheat, barley, beans, sesame), the five cloths (blue cloth, white cloth, yellow cloth, red cloth, green cloth), the five medicines (bitter root, sea floating stone, dried vine pear, Buddha's hand root, sweet flag), and the five gemstones (turquoise, red coral, jade, crystal, agate) to be sealed inside.

To serve as the five internal organs and six viscera of the statue.

According to the "Quanzhen Secret Order: Divine Statue's Sacred Heart," Daoist statues also require the five metals for the corresponding five internal organs, as well as five-colored grains and five-colored threads, along with a new, clear yellow paper used to write the hidden talisman.

Only divine statues that have been embedded can protect the people; otherwise, they are just hollow shells with a divine appearance, easily possessed by Evil Spirits and turned into Wild Gods that harm the region.

Sun Yan's vision went dark, plunged into endless darkness.

Amidst this boundless darkness, a ray of light suddenly appeared. As Sun Yan moved closer, he discovered a small temple.

The temple's plaque read 'Erlang Temple'.

Entering the temple, Sun Yan saw a seated True Monarch Erlang statue on the altar. His three eyes wide open, foot resting on the Sun-Devouring Divine Monarch, hand supporting the Heaven-Striking Eagle, with a Three-Pointed Double-Edged Blade across his knees, he looked youthful and handsome, exuding a heroic divine aura.

What an impressive True Monarch Erlang the Saint!

"Master!" Sun Yan shivered with emotion, involuntarily bowing and calling out.

"Each temple is a divine altar. I will embed you with sacred essence, and henceforth, you shall bear the name 'True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao, Manifest Holy Might', inheriting all my Magical Treasures and Divine Powers."

True Monarch Erlang looked at Sun Yan and asked calmly.

"Disciple is willing!"

"Good, then this temple shall be yours to preside over. I will assist you in embedding for the first time. Your magical artifact, the Nine Dragon Five Thunder Seal, is a rightful tool of the Daoist Thunder Division. Using such a treasure for your embedding could not be more suitable. In the future, if you can acquire more magical artifacts, I will naturally assist you in further embedding to become a god."

As soon as True Monarch Erlang's statue finished speaking, it turned to dust and disappeared from the altar.

In its place, Sun Yan found himself instinctively leaping and landing in the original position of True Monarch Erlang.

...

Sun Yan suddenly opened his eyes, finding that less than a second had passed in the outside world.

The Nine Dragon Five Thunder Seal he held had already vanished, but Sun Yan could clearly feel as if engines roared in his kidneys, unleashing immense potential within him.

Traditionally, only Immortals qualified for embedding.

At this moment, Sun Yan had embarked on the path to godhood.

Now, he was both a disciple of the True Monarch of Pure Origin and Mysterious Dao and his successor, "True Monarch of Pure Origin, Manifest Holy Might!"

The golden Celestial Eye on his forehead made Sun Yan appear even more divine, rendering the maddening songs around him entirely ineffective.

He felt unparalleled tranquility within himself, with an innate divine aura repelling all malevolent spirits, unaffected by their disturbances.

"Is this the power of embedding and becoming a god?"

Sun Yan clenched his fists, looking at the hallway covered in flesh, his gaze bursting with brilliance as he punched the wall of flesh.

Thunderous power erupted from Sun Yan's fist, spreading around, charring and rotting the flesh wherever it reached.

Faces embedded in the flesh emitted mournful howls, earsplitting shrieks resounding repeatedly, yet, after embedding, Sun Yan was unaffected.

With fierce punches, he strode forward. With every step, lightning flowers exploded underfoot, ripping apart the flesh clinging to the hallway surface.

As Sun Yan destroyed a large amount of flesh, the remaining flesh shrank, coalescing into the form of Jamebi.

However, he was far more battered than before, his body covered in bloody, gaping wounds, blood flowing continuously.

Lying on the ground, he exclaimed in disbelief, "Who... who are you really? How could a human possess the power to resist the rules! My songs can make anyone lose their sanity, collapse their minds, how could you not react at all!"

With a calm expression, Sun Yan stepped forward and planted a foot on Jamebi's chest, firmly pinning him to the ground.

"Because I am a god!"

Bang!

With force applied, Sun Yan's foot caused Jamebi's body to explode into countless chunks of blood.

On the monitor, Zorn, witnessing Jamebi's death, collapsed into a chair, pale-faced, staring at Sun Yan, who was now looking towards the camera, murmuring.

"Where did this person come from... how could San Francisco have someone who can resist the rule's power? Even those Evil God Council fellows couldn't kill Jamebi so easily; I must act, even at the cost of my life... I cannot let the ritual be disturbed by outsiders, the Ancient Gods must prevail!"

As Sun Yan acted, the camera exploded instantly.

Watching the snow-filled screen, Zorn's expression turned increasingly resolute and frantic.

He clutched the eyeball-shaped brooch pinned to his chest, as if making up his mind, then stood, donned his coat, and left the office alone, leaning on his cane.

...

After completing the embedding, aside from being able to directly wield the power of lightning, Sun Yan also discovered that his physique seemed to have strengthened considerably.
