Xu An and Lin Yu nodded, their faces also becoming somber. They stopped in their tracks, quietly listening to their surroundings. The footsteps grew closer, as if they were right behind them.
Shen Jingqi suddenly turned around, but saw nothing. A chill rose in his heart; could there be other mysterious presences in this corridor?
"Keep moving, don't stop." Shen Jingqi took a deep breath and said. They quickened their pace and headed deeper into the corridor.
The corridor was filled with a pungent smell that made their heads spin. The walls flickered with eerie light, as if countless eyes were staring at them. Shen Jingqi felt his heartbeat quicken, as if it were about to leap from his throat.
"This corridor is too strange, could we have fallen into a bigger trap?" Lin Yu's voice trembled slightly.
"Don't scare yourself, just stay alert." Although Xu An said this, a hint of unease still showed in his eyes.
Suddenly, a massive stone door appeared ahead. The door was covered in strange runes, exuding a mysterious aura. Shen Jingqi and the others stopped; they did not know what might be hidden behind this stone door.
"How do we open this stone door?" Lin Yu asked.
Shen Jingqi stepped forward to examine the runes on the door. The runes seemed to be an ancient script, none of which he recognized. His brow furrowed, full of doubt.
"What do these runes mean? Could they be related to opening the door?" Shen Jingqi wondered to himself.
Just as they were at a loss, three golden snakes suddenly emitted a burst of light. The light shone on the stone door, causing the runes to flicker as if being activated. The stone door slowly creaked open, and a powerful gust rushed at them, nearly knocking them off balance.
They carefully stepped inside the door. It opened into a vast space filled with strange objects and statues. The statues were of various forms, some fierce and others benevolent, as if telling ancient stories.
"What is this place with so many strange things?" Lin Yu said in astonishment.
Shen Jingqi remained silent, his eyes revealing a hint of caution. He sensed that a powerful force lay dormant within this space, ready to erupt at any moment.
Suddenly, they heard a deep roar. The sound seemed to come from ancient times, sending chills down their spines. They looked in the direction of the sound and saw a gigantic monster appear before them. The beast was as large as a mountain, covered in black scales, with eyes glowing red.
"What is this monster? Why is it here?" Xu An said in terror.
Shen Jingqi tightened his grip on his weapon, determination in his eyes. "It doesn't matter what it is, we must fight to the end."
The monster let out a roar and charged at them, moving with the speed of a black lightning bolt. Shen Jingqi and the others dodged quickly, simultaneously striking back with their weapons. Their blows landed on the beast but left only shallow marks.
"The beast's defenses are too strong; our attacks have no effect." Lin Yu said anxiously.
"Don't panic, find its weakness." Shen Jingqi shouted.
Dodging the beast's attacks, they searched for its weak point. Suddenly, Shen Jingqi noticed the monster's eyes were its vulnerability. A thought sparked within him, and he charged at its eyes.
The monster seemed to sense Shen Jingqi's intent, violently shaking its head and throwing him off. Shen Jingqi hit the ground hard, feeling as if his insides had been rearranged.
"Shen Jingqi!" Xu An and Lin Yu exclaimed.
Shen Jingqi gritted his teeth, struggling to stand. He knew now was not the time to back down. He charged at the monster's eyes once more, successfully piercing them this time. The beast let out a heartrending scream, swaying a few times before collapsing to the ground.
They breathed a sigh of relief, but before they could celebrate, an odd sound reached their ears. It seemed to come from every direction, impossible to pinpoint.
"What is that sound? Is there more danger?" Lin Yu said in terror.
Shen Jingqi watched their surroundings warily, a sense of foreboding rising within him. Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to shake violently, as if something was trying to break through from below.
"Run!" Shen Jingqi shouted, and they sprinted towards the exit of the space.
Just as they were nearing the exit, a swarm of black tendrils burst from the ground, blocking their path. The tendrils writhed like black serpents, lunging at them.
"What do we do? We're trapped." Lin Yu said in despair.
Shen Jingqi looked at the tendrils, filled with anger. He swung his weapon at them, but there were too many for them to break through.
As they neared hopelessness, the three golden snakes emitted light once again. The tendrils shrank back into the ground, and they seized the opportunity to dash out of the space, continuing down the corridor.
The corridor grew increasingly narrow, squeezing against their bodies. Their breathing turned rapid, and dread filled their hearts.
"How much longer is this corridor? Will we ever make it out?" Lin Yu's voice was tinged with tears.
"Don't give up, we can make it out." Shen Jingqi encouraged.
Suddenly, a glimmer of light appeared ahead, like a beacon in the dark, offering them hope. They hastened their pace, running towards the light.
When they finally emerged from the corridor, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place. It was a dense forest, sunlight streaming through the leaves to form patches of light on the ground.
"We finally made it out." Lin Yu said excitedly.
Shen Jingqi, however, stayed vigilant. He knew that behind this mysterious corridor, more secrets and dangers might lie in wait. Though they had escaped the dark space, new challenges could still be ahead.
"We can't let our guard down; this place might not be safe either." Shen Jingqi said.
They cautiously proceeded through the forest, ever alert to their surroundings. Suddenly, they heard cries for help. The voice sounded like a girl's, filled with fear and desperation.
"Someone's calling for help, let's check it out." Shen Jingqi said.
They followed the cries to find a girl surrounded by a pack of beasts. Her face was pale, and terror filled her eyes.
"Help me!" the girl shouted when she saw them.
