This would ensure that no one else advanced toward Dragonhold; at least not until he had dealt with the matter himself.
At the head of his army, Oberon watched as a slashing attack tore through the ground, forcing him to halt his march toward the gates.
Confusion crossed his face, and even Thamoryn, riding beside him, looked equally puzzled by Aiden's actions.
Oberon's eyes then widened into shock when he saw that the moment, when he saw that the soldiers approaching from the sides would forcibly slam their bodies into what looked like an invisible barrier
Aiden then made an avatar that stood on the other side of the unconventional spatial barrier.
This way, should anybody find a way to somehow successfully cross over, the Avatar would act to deter any further movement
…
Without a word to Oberon who was staring right at him with annoyance on his face, Aiden turned walked towards the walls of Dragonhold. Now it was him against them.
Baran, standing atop the walls kept looking at Aiden, with a part of him frustrated that it had to be like this.
This was the Kid he helped train to use the sword and throw a decent punch.
But today, Aiden was enemy and it seemed like there was no other way to go about it.
"Ready…" he began, raising his right hand to the skies
The archers all pointed their arrows towards Aiden
"Steady…" he called out again, some of part hoping that Aiden would stop moving and turn back, especially as he saw different arrows pointing at him.
Aiden lifted his face, meeting Baran's eyes. Then a defiant grin arched across his lips.
And in that moment, Baran called out for the final time, "Release!"
The Archers let go of the arrows, and they all fell on Aiden like it was Rain.
Aiden raised his hand towards them and snapped his fingers, and instantly they all disappeared. He had forcefully banished them into his pocket domain.
"Again!" Baran yelled out and the soldiers nocked the arrows again and released another set of arrows en masse.
With another snap, the arrows got banished again. They were about go again but Aiden sighed, wondering if they didn't understand when a situation was futile.
He made a third snap of his fingers and every soldier mounting the top of the walls all disappeared from sight, and right now the multitude of them were banished to his pocket dimension.
This power frightened the Grand Magus, Mumbleton who was looking, and after seeing that, he immediately called out. "Captains, use your mystic field!"
Mystic field, was ranked as a King level supplementary spell, but in truth it was more than a spell. It was a mana control skill.
And this skill allowed a mage to manipulate the mana in the surroundings, but within the range of their mystic fields.
Thus, a mage could gather together and utilize more magic than they would be able to normally. This easily increased the strength of their magic and spells, making it go atleast a full rank above what it would be normally.
The range limit of one's mystic field was also dependent on their level of mastery. Ursula was able to extend her mystic field from a few thousand meters in the skies all the way into space, so that she could use her celestial magic to pull in a meteorite from space.
However the mystic field was a skill that had to be mastered before one became a Captain. It was the prerequisite for both Dragonhold and Xathia.
Aiden watched them with an amused expression on his face, deciding to play with them for a bit.
There was no visible indication that the technique was in use. However asides the system sending him a message that the technique had just been copied, he could feel that mana in the surroundings had started reacting to the captains.
At the same interval, Jarius and Ursula had flew into the fray and Ursula joined the captains below, extending her own mana field in tandem.
A frown appeared on Aiden's face when he exchanged glances with Jarius.
Aiden spoke out loud to him, "I presented you with an option to avoid bloodshed and you tried to make a mess of it…"
"What do you think would happen when you set off a war over your childish tantrums" Jarius replied back.
The Captains of Dragonhold immediately moved to catch Aiden off guard.
Ursula conjured a concentrated beam of blue energy and launched it at him from behind. The mystical field made this possible; it allowed spells to be fired from any direction within its range, even from angles a normal mage couldn't control.
Spells could be cast around a target to block escape routes or from behind to strike unseen.
But trying to surprise Aiden, especially when his Dragon's Sight was active was pointless.
Aiden could see the magic beam come from behind him. Without even turning fully, he extended his hand behind him, opening a spatial portal that swallowed the attack whole and let it pass harmlessly through.
Aiden then extended his other hand toward the Captains and the Grand Magus. Another portal opened several meters in front of them, releasing the same celestial beam that passed through the first portal; now redirected straight at them.
Mumbleton reacted instantly, and countered the attack for he and the captains
He thrust his staff forward, and a large red magic circle formed before the group, swallowing the oncoming blast.
"Threefold Discharge!" he called out.
The circle shifted from red to blue, then released the stored energy back at Aiden, this time at triple the original speed and power.
This was Mumbleton's Reflection Magic at its peak. His spell allowed him to turn an enemy's attack back at double its power and speed, but with the boost from the Mystic Field, he could now reflect it at triple the strength.
The blast tore through the air, fast, too fast. However Aiden teleported out of its path with Void Step, reappearing off to the side and out of range.
But the moment he materialized, Azam's spell took hold.
Aiden's movements slowed drastically, his body feeling like it was wading through thick, invisible mud.
Azam, now moving at a boosted, massively hypersonic speed of Mach 1000, appeared before Aiden and drove a punch straight into his face.
Aiden didn't stagger back, only turned his head slightly from the impact.
The Captain of Silver Pegasus hadn't realized that Aiden had already erased the slowing effect with his Zero Effect skill.
And in that ignorance, he attempted delivering another punch. At that instant, Aiden caught the Captain's wrist and turned to look at Azam's with a devilish grin spreading across his face.
"How?" Azam's eyes widened in disbelief as he had not expected anyone to be able to react to his maximum speed.
Then Aiden replied, "I'll give it to you Captain, your speed might only be rivaled by a few"
Now, Aiden could react just as fast because he was re-enacting the copied version of the spell that granted Azam his immense speed levels.
He tightened his grip on Azam's wrist, which shattered his bone, and made the captain yell out in frustration, before flinging him aside like paper.
The Other Captains gasped in shock at the sight of this. No one ever bested Azam in a contest of speed, had never happened before.
Before they could even react any further, Aiden now moving at a massively hypersonic level of mach 1000, had blurred past them in streaks of motion.
He struck their guts, faces, and sides in rapid succession. Within seconds, the captains and the Grand Magus were sent flying, crashing into different directions on the battlefield.
Aiden's grin extended further into a sarcastic laugh, "Have you imbeciles not figured it out yet? Not a single one of you will be able to defeat me. You have all gone all out, meanwhile i'm merely having fun"
The Captains and mumbleton struggled to get back up, and then Aiden lifted his face towards Jarius who watched with terror in his eyes as his Captains got bested a second time.
"I hope you're getting a good look at this father, cause I'm through with them, you're next!"
