My Dragon King System

Chapter 144: Above The Horizon

For a moment Aiden watched the captains lie helpless on the ground, then turned his gaze to Jarius, who was slowly pushing himself up after being hurled away.

Aiden slowly walked towards him, with a grim expression on his face. His father was the last piece that had to be dealt with, to bring this war to an end.

Jarius was now on his feet. "So… this is how it ends. The bastard kills his father"

Aiden said nothing, only tilted his head slightly to the side

"I see you chose this the moment you fled the Kingdom, like a coward if i might add" Jarius said. At this point, with nothing left to lose, he might as well get it all out.

Aiden smiled a little, "I must say, I am quite surprised you're going with this. I expected a little more begging for your life or even fighting before I inevitably send you off"

Jarius scoffed, "And let that be my final moment? Begging my bastard to spare my life?" He gave a short laughter.

Without getting or waiting on a reply from Aiden, he pressed on. "But atleast tell me this. You were nothing when you left here, no magic, nothing. So how? Where did this power come from, Aiden?"

"You're about to die and somehow that is your concern? Heh" Aiden shook his head, looking almost amused.

Jarius met his gaze, "Would you not grant me an answer, if that was my final wish?"

Aiden said nothing, but instead made his sword materialise in his right hand. "Your time is at an end"

Jarius looked at the blade for a moment, then exhaled. It was truly at this point that he had accepted his impending death.

"You know," he began quietly, "I saw you every time you trained in the yards, whether it be with Grandal or Baran, trying so desperately to prove yourself worthy"

Aiden had this wave of emotion surge through him at that point. There had been once a time when all he ever wanted was his father's commendation of his hard work.

He couldn't help but ask. "I have one question Jarius. Why? Why treat me like I was less than dirt? Why let the court see me as a thing of mockery?"

"Because you were a mistake!" Jarius voice cracked slightly. "A consequence I couldn't erase… And believe me, I tried."

He laughed slightly here, "I tried to treat you as a father would treat his first son. I gave you a roof, food, protection , but you carried every flaw unbefitting of a first son. You were only ever good at things for Knights and common folk. Sword fighting, Art. But had nothing worthy of a true Crowley Heir"

Aiden scoffed, "You mean, I had no magic"

"Tsk" Jarius clicked his tongue, looking away in frustration.

"Goodbye, Father." Aiden said for the last time in a Solemn Voice, and then swung his blade to cleave past the King's neck.

Jarius turned just in time for terror to flash across his face before his head fell from his neck.

And afterwards his body crumpled to the ground.

King Jarius Crowley, Had Been Slain!

Laela watching from a distance, put her hand over her mouth as she turned her face away.

His other friends from afar and even the Captain, Katherine, all reacted with the same look of disbelief and grief.

It's true they were at war, but this felt different watching Aiden kill his father.

Aiden took a slow breath in and exhaled. He had always known it would come to this, but now that it was done, he couldn't deny a part of him stung him a little bit.

Lucidbane faded back into his inventory.

Then he snapped his fingers and the knights and soldiers that were trapped in his domain, suddenly dropped from a few inches from mid air, landing hard on the ground.

"What is this Sorcery!" Baran exclaimed as he looked around quickly and suddenly saw himself back in the real world, after he and his men were left in the Pocket domain.

Aiden simply said in a quiet and cold tone, "Bury Your King"

Baran froze, then suddenly turned to see the dead body of the King and his head rolled over to another direction entirely.

"No…" Baran whispered in terror.

But Aiden didn't linger. His feet slowly lifted off the ground as he used the levitation spell. Rising high above the city gates of Dragonhold, where the rest of the mages of the kingdom were lying in wait.

[Dragon's Fear]

That feeling of standing close to the gaping jaws of a ferocious dragon and the fear that came with it quickly grabbed hold of everyone within its two kilometers range.

This included every other mage of Dragonhold.

"Listen to me, Mages of Dragon Hold!" Aiden began in a loud voice that they could hear him.

"Your Captains have been rendered useless, and your King is Dead!"

"Dragonhold has lost the war! Stand down and quietly surrender and no harm shall befall you. Resist Any Further and you shall face a similar fate!"

One by one, the mages came out of Hiding, whilst visibly quivering. Some with frowns on their faces, some looking sad and confused.

Even if they chose not to surrender to Oberon and his Army, the aura of fear acting on them had advised otherwise.

Aiden smiled slightly, and then returned back to the battlefield. Slowly making his way back to the other part he had cut off with his space authority.

------

Far away among the stars, was the City Of Gods, Eden. There were clouds amongst its atmosphere, with waterfalls pouring from one tier to the next like rivers of silver.

There were Huge arches surround the city, and between those arches stretches open space, stars, galaxies, and an endless night.

Two persons, or rather, two gods were standing on a huge, smooth floor inside a hall. This was Rhyos' temple.

Infront of them was a general view of space, glowing clouds and the same swirling stars. But more importantly, what looked like a gigantic gateway opening into the world below.

They had just seen the very display of battle happening in Dragonhold through the same opening.

Although this opening that looked like a gateway portal, could only view the general surroundings of a place. It could not directly scry or divine into more personal dealings or great existences.

"I was certain, the black dragon would show up at any moment" Herxes said. He was the Messenger God of Eden "So where is he if he didn't show up in their defense this time"

Rhyos, the gateway god, replied him, "Take a closer look at that boy, Herxes"

Rhyos was referring to Aiden who had just concluded flown down from the sky and was walking back towards Oberon.

"Wait… The Great black passed on to a new body already.." Herxes immediately discovered what was happening.

Gods had peculiar eye sight that could recognize the true nature of an existence.
