Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3252: Pouring Qi

In the slowed time, Pearl and Scarlet cultivated the Qi that filled their bodies, quickly refining it to make it theirs. They could use it just as it was, but if anything about the test was as Alex had guessed it would be, their Qi would be too low quality to count.

As such, they first needed to turn the Qi into their own before they could pour it in.

Alex's situation was the same as theirs, but unlike them, he didn't need to worry about his output. A pill could only give someone so much Qi, but he wasn't going to rely on Qi.

Every hour that passed outside was over 10 hours for the two beasts, so within an hour, they had more or less regained all of their Qi thanks to the pill. Once done, Alex let the two go ahead and pour their Qi.

While he stayed, he surveyed the surroundings, seeing how the others were faring. The other beasts were busy cultivating, each one focused on themselves.

Alex could see Wu Tanglan, the Divine realm monkey from the Twin Scar realm, who seemed far less nervous than the rest of the beasts. Considering that he had been through the trials already, did he know this was going to happen?

'He must've been preserving his Qi for this moment. So he's a step ahead of the others,' Alex thought. His eye swept through the rest, coming to land on a certain beast which was staring right back at him.

The moment their eyes met, the beast moved its glance away as if it didn't want to get caught.

Alex narrowed his eyes, trying to remember if he had seen the beast somewhere before, but he couldn't remember.

The beast was a white, almost crystalline, wolf with thick fur. A pale blue light seemed to emanate from its body, almost giving it an ethereal, ice-like feeling.

Alex sensed its cultivation base, noticing it was high in the Divine realm. He couldn't remember ever meeting a beast like this, so the fact that it had been staring at him earlier worried him.

Had the beast noticed something about him? Did it know that he was employing the Time Dao? He had been hoping that no beast would notice it, but if they had, he would have to be careful.

Pearl and Scarlet returned and rested for a bit. They watched the surroundings, keeping track of how many beasts returned to the platform to fill up their Qi.

Using pills back to back made it harder to get everything out of them, so they would rather wait and see if it was needed. There were two days to go, and they had only just finished the first two hours after all.

Around five hours passed, during which time three other beasts returned to the platform. It was hard to tell if their dantians had been full or not before they returned, but they had to act on the worst-case scenario.

So, after they were ready, they started once again.

Alex started using his temporal field on the two to turn an hour into 10 hours again, while he remained outside of its effects. He looked around absentmindedly and found himself looking back at the white wolf. As if sensing his gaze, the wolf turned around for a moment before turning away.

'Okay, something is up. Who is that beast?'

Alex asked Pearl and Scarlet if either of them knew who that beast was, but neither were able to answer. They had never seen such a beast in their lives before.

Pearl certainly hadn't met any of that species inside the Fighting Island.

Alex frowned. Had it not been for the beast's cultivation base, he would've spoken up already. But given that the wolf was a Divinity, likely stronger than even Bai Jingshen himself, he didn't want to take the initiative.

The wolf could do no offense by just looking at him, so Alex could only forget about it.

'I have to be careful.'

Another two hours passed before Pearl and Scarlet were done. This time, however, they didn't leave right away. They decided to wait a few hours, not only to give their bodies the rest they deserved, but also to let their bodies recover from taking the pill so that they could take another one soon.

Alex also needed to rest his mind during that time, as speeding up time for a few hours, even with it just being a Dao, was mentally consuming. He could only wonder how his aunt could handle it for so long at a time.

Her body constitution truly had been quite meant for time manipulation.

Pearl and Scarlet left for the platform for their second time, while Alex remained behind again, watching the others. The two of them returned, ready to eat their pills when someone appeared next to them.

Wu Tanglan stood next to them like a towering figure. His hulking body looked down at the three, a strange grin crossing his face. "What are you all doing?" he asked, his eyes focused on Scarlet.

Scarlet looked at him and gave a small bow. "We're just doing what everyone else is doing, senior."

"But you're doing it quite quickly. How?" the monkey asked.

Scarlet showed no emotion on her face as she answered him. "We're consuming pills to recover our Qi, just like everyone else is, I assume."

"But you're fast. How?" the monkey asked.

Scarlet shrugged. "Must be our pills then," she said.

"Are they good pills?"

Scarlet didn't know what the monkey wanted from the answer, so she couldn't tell what she was supposed to say. Her eyes flashed toward the other two, and Alex spoke to her through their bond, giving her the answer.

Scarlet relayed his words in her own voice. "They are excellent pills, senior. My mother made them," she said. "I would give you some, senior, but they're only Immortal rank."

"No need," the monkey said. "I have my own pills."

Without even turning to look at Alex or Pearl, the monkey left.
