Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3253: The White Wolf

A day passed when Pearl and Scarlet poured their 4th batch of Qi. And another 12 hours later, they poured in the 5th batch. By that time, they had each given nearly 5 dantian worth of Qi, while most beasts had at best been on their 3rd batch.

With 12 more hours remaining, Pearl and Scarlet had enough time to complete another batch, but they decided not to do it. Instead, it was more important for both of them to save their Qi, as they would likely need it in the next trial.

There would be no point in passing this trial only to fail immediately at the next one.

With the two beasts done for the trial, only Alex remained.

"Are you sure you'll be fine?" Scarlet asked, worried. "You've spent a day and a half helping us, but you yourself haven't had any time. Will 12 hours be enough?"

Alex chuckled slightly, hearing her worried tone. "Don't worry. None of the trials before have been able to stop me, and they certainly won't now. I could breeze through this trial with my eyes closed."

He smiled and finally got off his seat, walking toward the platform. No one was around the platform when he went there, just as he wanted. He didn't want to be doing this while others were around, as it was going to take a bit of time.

Alex brought out a Divine-grade poison from his Soul Space, one that could likely kill even a Divine Manifestation realm cultivator if they weren't careful. Without much thought, he drank the poison, immediately feeling its effects as the poison burned through his esophagus, destroying his innards as it reached his stomach.

When it did, Alex's body activated at once, devouring the poison with all its power, converting it all into Qi. Without cultivating, the Qi was of a slightly lesser quality, but considering how strong the poison was, the amount of Qi it produced far surpassed anything else he could've eaten during this trial.

He poured out the Qi, flowing it into the platform. The platform drank his Qi with no concern, consuming volumes of it that would've otherwise brought Alex's dantian and meridians close to bursting from the sheer amount.

And his body was still converting more.

Dozens and dozens of dantian worth of Qi flowed out of him and into the platform in the next few minutes. Even if the platform were to consider them lesser in quality, they were still dozens of dantians worth of his regular Qi.

As such, Alex had no doubt that he would pass this trial. That was the reason why he hadn't been worried at all.

He let go of every single hint of Qi in his body before turning around to return to his spot. When he did, he found the white wolf standing behind him. It had come there at some point.

The wolf stared directly at him, not moving its eyes away this time.

Alex gulped a little, choosing to speak up. "Senior, can I help you?" he asked.

The wolf remained silent for some time, and Alex almost thought it wasn't going to converse. But then it spoke up.

"Why are you here?" the wolf asked.

Alex blinked for a moment, realizing the wolf's voice was feminine. The image of the wolf hadn't made him consider it was a female wolf.

"I don't understand what you mean, senior," Alex said. "I'm here for the trial."

"Did you know there was a trial, or did you find out after coming here?" she asked.

"I…"

How did the wolf know about that? Had it noticed their arrival? Had it followed them? Was it one of the beasts they teleported with from the Land of the Blessed Sun?

She stepped closer, her snout right next to his face. Alex surprisingly smelled a floral scent from the beast, which he hadn't been expecting.

"Do you see it?" she asked. "Can you hear its voice?"

"What are you—"

"Does it point to the center?"

Alex's eyes widened. Was she… was she talking about the Sun God?

"What do you know, senior?" Alex asked. "Can you tell me something?"

The wolf stepped back. "You can," she said, looking down, as if his reaction was enough of an answer. "Was he telling the truth?"

"What are you talking about?" Alex asked.

"It does not matter," she said in the end, turning around. "Maybe I am never meant to pass these trials in the first place. No wonder I keep failing. I should just give up."

"Senior…"

The wolf stopped for a moment and turned around. "What's your name again?" she asked.

"I'm Alex," he said. "Who are—"

"No, your other name. Was it… Dawnblade?"

Alex frowned. How the hell did a wolf know about his Daoist name? How could it—

"Ah! You must've seen it too then," he said. "The recordings of the tournament."

The wolf chuckled. "Yes, I saw the tournament. It's unlikely you will fail these trials, so please hear my request. When you get to the center, let her know that I'm waiting for her in the Blackland City, will you?"

Alex narrowed his eyes. "Her?"

"If you're meant to pass, you'll know."

The wolf left, not looking at Alex ever again. Alex couldn't make heads or tails of the situation, so he too returned to his spot and talked to the two about it, but they couldn't understand anything either.

After half a day passed, the 6th trial came to an end. Along with Alex, Pearl, and Scarlet, 12 other beasts passed, one of which was Wu Tanglan.

The white wolf failed.

The 7th island finally arrived, and the 15 who passed moved onto the next one. When that island separated, leaving behind the ones who failed, the wolf stared at the other island until it disappeared from view.

The wolf remained thoughtful for a long time before coming to terms with the fact that she had passed her mission onto someone else. Someone who would likely do better than her.

With that in mind, she got rid of the necklace that placed the illusion of a wolf around her, becoming human once again.
