Shumi had a similar conversation with the Moon Goddess, who had appeared before her as a mature and beautiful woman with silver hair draping along her side. She stood with a warm smile on her face, now no longer the crazy woman that had been with her during the start.
"Are you really the mother of all phoenixes?" Shumi asked.
"No, I am not," the Moon Goddess explained. "That is what they call me, but there were phoenixes that existed long before me. I have never had a child of my own, so I could never be a mother."
"Really? But many of the Primordials such as the Golden Crow, Midnight Phoenix, and the Nine-Headed Phoenix were said to be your children," Shumi said. "Is that incorrect?"
"No," the Moon Goddess said while shaking her head. "What I did instead was leave behind inheritances for the others to use. In a way, I blessed many beasts into gaining various inheritances, and not really limited to just birds either. I just happened to look like a phoenix, so they attributed the Primordial birds to being my children."
"So, in a way you were responsible for their growth," Shumi said.
"I blessed thousands and thousands of beasts, so those that surpassed the others did so by their very own merit."
Shumi couldn't help but be surprised by all of that. She looked at the woman, so lively and energetic. "How can you suddenly talk so much? Before, you could barely finish a sentence."
"Before, I had to rely on the limited intelligence I had left behind in the Heaven when we formed them. Now, I am next to my body where some of my power still lies. It's not nearly enough for me to do anything else, but appearing before you as I have and talking is possible."
Shumi raised her eyebrows. "Since you can talk freely now, can you tell me what you were trying to tell me back then? You kept repeating the same word over and over."
"I was asking you to come here," the Moon Goddess said, "so you could help us save the world."
Shumi sucked in a deep breath. To save the world, she was more than willing.
She gave a thoughtful nod, looking past the image of the Moon Goddess to look at the Phoenix Mother again. "So there is power within your corpse, right?" she asked.
"Yes," the Moon Goddess said.
"So how do I get it?"
"You don't," the Moon Goddess said. "If you were to try and accept that power as you are, it will rip your body apart."
Shumi gave a surprised look. "I thought you said that power was weak."
"To us. To you, it's fatal," the Moon Goddess said.
Shumi frowned a little. "Then what are we supposed to do? Stay here and cultivate until we're strong enough to handle the power?" she asked.
"Not exactly," the Moon Goddess said. "It is your physique that is too weak. To hold the power of a god, your physique must be of the same caliber as well. As such, the first thing you must do right now is evolve your physique once more."
"Evolve my physique?" Shumi asked, surprised. Her physique, according to the elders, was already at the peak of what was possible for a person. It was at the Celestial grade, which no one could go beyond.
There were some incomplete records that spoke of a God grade physique, but it was more of a thing of legend rather than something that could be seen in daily life.
"A God grade body," Shumi thought, feeling both nervousness and excitement. "How do I do it?"
The Moon Goddess smiled. "Had it been the past, things would've been easy. I could have improved your body with a single flick of my wrist. But then, I wouldn't be helping you either, since I wouldn't have been so weakened."
Shumi scratched her chin. "So? How do we go about it? I've tried cultivating for many years in the Ever Dark realm, known for its extreme Yin Qi. Even that failed to push my body to the next stage."
"That is because you cannot improve through your Yin Qi this time around," the Moon Goddess said. She pointed two fingers, a small bundle of light glowing from their tips. "Sit down and accept this knowledge."
Shumi gave a surprised look and sat down.
The Moon Goddess placed her finger on Shumi's forehead, and suddenly information flowed directly into her mind, telling her the path to evolving her body one final time.
Alex sat down as well and watched the Sun God place his palm on his forehead. Instantly, knowledge flowed into his mind, and he quickly acted to consume it all.
The Sun God's Divine Yang Body had evolved to the Celestial grade upon him encountering pure Yang in the form of the Nine Yang Divine Tree's fruit. To evolve his body from the Celestial grade to the God grade, however, he needed the exact opposite.
What he needed to do was to train his body against a series of strong Yin Qi, which he could use as stepping stones to improve his own physique. It was no different than using tiny amounts of poison to build immunity toward it over time.
As Alex took in the knowledge, a technique flooded his mind right then. He read through the technique, learning it slowly. As he learned the technique, he was left a little speechless as he realized the sort of technique it was.
It was called the Emulous Cycle of Yin and Yang: Sun Wheel. According to the technique, the source of the Yin Qi Alex was supposed to use was none other than the one that existed within Shumi, as she was the one who held the Moon Goddess' body.
Alex slowly opened his eyes and turned toward Shumi, who stared back at him with a flustered face.
There was no doubt. She had received it as well.
A Dual Cultivation technique.
