Pick Up a Killer as Girlfriend

Chapter 266: Bad News

Xiaofan found this information useless, but after leaving the room, he remembered to go back and return it to his uncle.

The development of the situation seemed a bit strange, but now everyone was in the fog and had no idea where the breakthrough point was.

By the time Xiaofan left his uncle's office and headed towards the rental apartment, it was already evening.

Xiaofan couldn't spare the time for dinner; he had to meet up with everyone and continue searching for clues.

When he returned to the rental apartment, the empty house surprised Xiaofan. Li Kuo's house had been sealed, so logically, he should be here. Did they go out for dinner?

Just as Xiaofan was about to call Li San to inquire, a slight sound came from the direction of the balcony.

Someone?

Xiaofan instinctively became vigilant.

'Ding ding dang dang'

Suddenly, a sound came from the floor; looking down, a bomb-like object was rolling towards him.

Immediately, Xiaofan dashed towards the kitchen.

'Boom.'

As soon as he reached the doorway, a loud explosion occurred. The force pushed Xiaofan into the kitchen; everything around him was overturned, making the whole house shake slightly.

Assassins are here?

Xiaofan removed the pots and pans covering him and climbed up from the ground, immediately thinking of the Assassination Order.

Using a bomb, these guys have really gotten clever.

But where did Li San and the others go? Why aren't they in the apartment; could they have been ambushed by assassins?

Thinking about this, Xiaofan's anger surged from the bottom of his heart. There's something I have to deal with here, and you bastards keep causing trouble. I'll make you pay.

After one bomb, the opponents thought that even if Xiaofan wasn't dead, he should have been dazed by the blast.

Thus, two people holding daggers rushed over from the balcony towards the place where Xiaofan fell.

'Whoosh.'

Suddenly, Xiaofan fired two cold arrows, toothpicks shot straight at the two rushing figures.

'Ding ding.'

The sound of clanging was heard; obviously, the opponents managed to block the toothpicks Xiaofan shot under such circumstances.

Experts?

The two in front were no longer like the previous idiots. It seemed that the one billion price tag had tempted many hidden experts to emerge.

'Whoosh.'

A cold light flashed by; evidently, the opponent had guessed that Xiaofan's martial power was no small feat and wasn't looking down on him at all.

After all, a one-billion-dollar prey shouldn't be underestimated.

Faced with the sudden attack, Xiaofan disdainfully glanced at the opponent, swung his large hand, and a toothpick appeared again in Xiaofan's hand. He slightly arched his hand and stabbed fiercely at the opponent's wrist holding the dagger.

"Ah."

Hearing his companion's painful cry, the other person quickly followed to support him. Their coordination was very tight; it was obvious that they had been working together in the assassin profession for many years.

But Xiaofan was just waiting for the other person to approach. A single hand formed a palm, a move of Buddha's Fury greeted him, hitting the incoming assassin squarely.

'Bang.'

The palm struck the heart, instantly severing the heart's veins with Xiaofan's Palm Force. The whole person flew backward, fell to the ground, twitching a few times unwillingly before losing all signs of life.

They were trained, but they weren't Huaxia people. The cultivation of inner strength wasn't pure. If they had enough Inner Strength to block that palm earlier, they'd merely be injured, not fatally harmed. But unfortunately, their Inner Strength was really too poor.

"Hmph, you think having some skills means you can mess with your grandpa?"

With a disdainful snort, Xiaofan turned his figure, Ghost Shadow Step flickered instantly, once again appearing before the attacker. A single hand formed a claw, gripping the opponent's throat. With the other hand, he easily bent the opponent's hand back.

'Crack.'

After ruthlessly breaking the arm, he disregarded the pig-like wailing and coldly asked, "Did you take my friends?"

'%&...¥#*'

The opponent's response was gibberish, not even English would help; at least Xiaofan could converse a bit in English.

At this point, Xiaofan only suspected Li San and the others were taken by assassins, not confirmed, so to be sure, he could only call them.

Letting go of the twisted arm, Xiaofan took out his phone and dialed Li San's number.

"Hey, Xiaofan? You're back?"

"Where did you all go? Out for dinner?" Xiaofan finally breathed a sigh of relief hearing Li San's voice.

"We're in the hospital, hush, don't speak too loudly here."

"Hospital? Why did you go to the hospital? Who got injured? Huh? What? Actually... okay, got it."

Gently putting down the phone, Xiaofan's expression suddenly turned cold.

He was angry, extremely, extremely angry. The news on the phone was unacceptable to him.

The man under Xiaofan's control dared not move a muscle; with his throat tightly locked, he knew any slight movement would mean instant death.

But, do you think staying still means Xiaofan won't kill you? Ridiculous, you should know, in this line of work, sooner or later, you have to pay.

'Crack.'

His neck was directly twisted with one-hand motion from Xiaofan. He casually tossed the assassin and immediately walked out of the door while making a call.

"Hey, Lin Miaoke, I've got two dead assassins at my place, send someone to clean up. Also... huh? You're also at the hospital? Got it, I'm coming over."

8 PM. Medical University Affiliated Hospital.

After driving over, Xiaofan parked the car and quickly ran towards the inpatient department.

Upon arriving at the critical care ward area, Xiaofan saw Li San and the other three outside a ward.

"How's it going?"

"Li Zhongran is dead, Li Kuo's mother, critically injured, just saved from death, severe head trauma, although not life-threatening, there's a possibility she may become a vegetable."

"Li Kuo?" Xiaofan asked indifferently.

"Hmm..." Ren Ying gestured with a glance inside the ward.

Xiaofan walked over slowly, indeed seeing Li Kuo crying inside the ward through the window.

"He can't handle such a hard hit, keeps saying his dad isn't dead, and won't allow the hospital staff to move the corpse to the morgue."

Inside the ward, Li Kuo lay on a hospital bed, his body sobbing heavily. On the bed lay a body covered by a white cloth, undoubtedly Li Kuo's father. Behind Li Kuo was a woman; Xiaofan saw her during junior high; she was Li Kuo's mother.

"What happened? Why did it turn out like this?" Xiaofan only went to his uncle to see some files, but hadn't expected to come back to this mess. He hadn't even had time to investigate.
