"Thalos."
The expressions of Syrelle, Anton, Pamela, the Tier 6 priest of the Temple of Darkness, and the Tier 6 Mage, changed the moment they saw Thalos appear from thin air.
Corey lowered his right hand, and the grey light that coated his hand slowly dissipated.
He inhaled and exhaled deeply as he felt his void energy reserves plummet by more than half. Teleporting an Immortal, even with the void was not an easy feat.
It was like he was moving an entire mountain, and despite the distance, it was an enormous task.
'I'm lucky he didn't resist. If he did, I would have faced an enormous backlash.'
Just as Corey had this thought, Pamela spoke.
"How did he get here? I thought he was gravely injured?"
Corey replied without looking at her. "I healed him."
He shifted his gaze to the world tree, and a light of madness flashed in his eyes. Meanwhile, Pamela had a baffled expression after hearing his words.
"What? When? I've been with you ever since, and not once did I ever see you with him."
"Illusions. Remember?" Corey replied nonchalantly and without thinking too much about the answer.
However, Pamela's lips twitched when she knew that Corey just gave her an answer he randomly thought of.
'You really do need to suffer.' She thought with a slight scoff. Meanwhile, Syrelle conversed with Thalos.
"Thalos. What are you doing here? How did you get here? Is it him?"
Syrelle looked at Corey, and then she frowned.
"No. It cannot be him. No matter how unique he is, he's just a mortal, and he could not have brought you past the defenses in the path to this place."
Thalos turned his sword with an utterly cold expression.
"That is not what you should be worried about. You should be worried about whether you'll live to see another day." He pointed his sword at her. "I'm going to kill you very slowly, Syrelle."
Syrelle rolled her eyes and shook her head. "You as well as I, know that you're not a match for me. I'm more talented than you and stronger than you. Because you're family, I'll give you the opportunity to leave after I destroy your mana core and cripple you. That's the last shred of kindness I'm going to give to you."
Thalos' eyes flashed with anger. "Mother and everybody else always failed to see the cruelty you always hid in your heart. The way you took pleasure in slaughtering our enemies, killing criminals, and so on. Everybody saw you as a powerful being who would protect them, but I knew that you were cruel and vicious."
"Today. I'll kill you."
Shing!
Thalos' sword emitted flashed of silver lightning along with a sharp light that made Corey to narrow his eyes in surprise and suspicion.
'Sword Intent? No. It's extremely close to Sword Intent, but it's not the same... Sword Force then...'
'... This is a surprise. If the Prince was given a little bit more time, he might have comprehended Sword Intent. He might not be so talented like Syrelle or Ecles, but I believe he's more talented in the path of the sword compared to the others.'
Syrelle stretched out her hand, and her spear flew into her grasp.
"Too bad then. I truly didn't want to kill my family with my own hands."
"Don't worry about that. You won't have the opportunity to do so." Thalos said coldly, and then he vanished.
CLANG!!!
BANG!!!!
A shockwave that was so powerful to the point that cracks appeared on the barrier that protected the walking dead, Anton, and the two Tier 6s.
Corey and Pamela were nearly flung away, but they grabbed unto a part of the root, which prevented them from being flung to an unknown distance.
"Corey! Tell me your plan is not for the Prince to battle two Immortals at once?! Especially an Immortal that's stronger than Queen without the World Tree?!"
Pamela shouted as she slowly pushed her way through the shockwave that threatened to blast her away.
Cuts and injuries appeared on her body due to the remnant Immortal Mana that was released from the duo, and unlike before where they had somebody that could protect them from the mana, they had nobody this time around.
Their defenses were like pieces of paper before the immortal mana, and if not for their powerful bodies and healing abilities they both had, they would have suffered grievous injuries that could end their lives eventually.
"I have another plan." Corey said calmly, and then he pointed at the crown of the world tree where the lightning bolts above thundered furiously.
"We need to get as high up as possible and assist the world tree. I believe it has been poisoned with an energy called Death Qi, and this poison is preventing it from unleashing its full strength."
"If we can remove the Death Qi from the world tree, I'm sure the world tree would be able to defend itself much better against the leader of the Freedom Fighters."
Pamela raised her brows when she heard this. "Shouldn't we go to one of the roots instead? I'm sure we're meant the roots are actually the source of the problem."
"They are. But do you think those guys will allow us to heal the world tree through the roots that are down here?" Corey looked at her while gesturing towards Anton and the two Tier 6s who were not even bothering to look at both of them.
Their attention was fixed on the fight going on between Thalos and Syrelle, and it was not surprising since Thalos was the true threat in this space. Not Corey or Pamela.
Pamela saw this, and then she nodded. "You're right. They're attention would definitely shift toward us once we try to heal it through the roots."
Corey nodded. "But if we're up there, I'm sure the danger posed to them by the world tree would be a lot more. So let's go."
