Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 1067: 1064: Sacrificing (2)

"Can you save me?"

The moment Corey heard these words, he frowned in thought while staring at Pamela.

He remained silent for nearly a minute, and the silence was uncomfortable as everybody's attention was on both him and Pamela.

Corey was silent not because he didn't want to answer, but because he was thinking of how he could save Pamela.

At first, he wanted to ask Pamela why she thought he would be able to save her. But then he remembered that Pamela could speak to runes and runes could speak to her, and if she specifically asked him if he could help her, then the runes most likely told her that he could.

But the problem was how could he help her?

He knew that his current powers could not undo the powers of the Book of Death since he was too weak. And despite possessing the Book of Death, there was nothing in the Book that said that the death of a person can be undone even after writing their name in the Book.

There was nothing like that in the Book of Death, and Corey became lost when no solution came to his mind for an entire minute.

An entire minute was long for somebody like him with his unique mind, and the number of thoughts he had in this minute was in the millions.

Just as Corey was about to tell Pamela the bitter truth that he didn't have a way to save her, his Stars of Consciousness suddenly brought something to his attention and he subconsciously glanced at Jeremy.

"Hmm?" Jeremy tilted his head in confusion when he saw Corey's gaze land on him, and a second later, his eyes widened in realization and disbelief.

He took a step back while looking at Corey with a wary expression.

"Don't tell me you want to kill me to save her?"

Corey calmly shook his head. "I won't. If I do that, my sister won't be safe. And that's my number one priority."

Jeremy visibly let out a sigh of relief, and then he looked at Pamela who had her eyes closed and sat in a meditative pose.

"Can you help her? Pamela is definitely amongst the top ten strongest New Earthlings, and it would be a massive blow to our planet if she dies." Jeremy said with a slight furrow of his brows, and Corey approached Pamela.

"I couldn't actually care less about the world even if I wanted to. The only person I truly care about is my sister. She's all that matters to me."

Corey sat down in a cross-legged position, and then Pamela opened her eyes and looked at him.

"Were you able to find a way to help me? Or did you have a way of helping me but you were thinking of whether to use it on me or not? Whether I was worth it or not?"

Corey did not respond. Instead, he brought out a hourglass.

The Lifeless Hourglass.

----

[Lifeless Hourglass- Can freeze a person's death moment for up to three hours, suspending them between life and death. It has a hidden function.]

----

Corey stared at the hourglass in his hands with a contemplative expression, and then he looked at Pamela with a stoic expression.

"I didn't know how to save you until I eventually remembered... no... stumbled on something."

He paused for two seconds, and then he continued while staring into Pamela's dim and dying eyes.

"If I want to save you, I'm going to have to sacrifice a very useful artifact of mine, and it's not going to be free. It might not work, but if it does, you're going to be greatly indebted to me."

Pamela narrowed her eyes, and then she stared at the black hourglass with black sand in Corey's hands.

"Just how much debt would I be in?"

"A lot of it. It cannot be quantified since I might come to regret it in the future." Corey said with an indifferent expression and tone, and Pamela looked at him with a slight frown.

"What if the debt is not equivalent or fair to me? What if you overquantify it?"

Corey shook his head slightly. "I won't. When I feel like you've done enough, your debt would be considered paid... You can trust me on that. I'll be fair."

Pamela remained silent as she stared at Corey and then the Lifeless Hourglass.

To be honest, even if Corey decided to be unfair, he could ask for something unreasonable in exchange for saving her since he was literally protecting her from death.

Even if he asked her to have sex with him, she would consider it and most likely agree to it.

'The runes are telling me that the hourglass is the solution. I wonder what it can do.'

As Pamela had this thought, she nodded at Corey.

"Alright. I agree. Do what you have to do."

Corey nodded slightly. "Lie down."

"What?" Pamela was stunned.

'Don't tell me he actually wants to have sex with me before he even heals me?' Pamela thought in horror, and so did the others.

Corey could literally read Pamela's thoughts based on her expression, and his lips could not help but twitch in annoyance.

"If you want to live, then fucking lie down."

Pamela wanted to speak, but when she saw Corey's annoyed expression, she chose to keep quiet and lay on the floor, but she was ready to act in case Corey tried anything inappropriate.

Corey clicked his tongue when he saw this, but he didn't comment on it.

He moved closer to her, and then held the Lifeless Hourglass above her face.

"I'm going to crush it. Leave your eyes open since it'll be easier and faster for it to save you. The eyes are the windows to the soul after all."

"Huh?" Pamela wanted to ask so many questions, but she suddenly felt dizzy and extremely weak because her soul was getting a lot weaker.

She did as she was told, and then Corey crushed the Lifeless Hourglass above her face.

The black glass and black sand fell on Pamela's face, and then they began sinking into her face like how an object sank in water.

Pamela kept her eyes open like Corey said, but she felt a stinging pain in her eyes the moment the shards and sand of the Lifeless Hourglass fell into her eyes.

She nearly screamed in pain, but she gritted her teeth and held it in.

Divine and Rosa watched with bated breath, and their entire attention was on her soul.

After some minutes, they saw that her soul began to recover and they could not help but release a sigh of relief.

Even Corey released an onward sigh of relief since it meant that he had not just sacrificed a precious artifact of his for no reason.
