"Then we'll fall in love."
Corey's lips instantly twitched when he heard Pamela's words.
Fall in love?
Then we'll fall in love?
Was it that easy to fall in love?
Was falling in love one of his priorities?
"Oh fuck." He shook his head while holding the space between his eyes.
"What do you mean we'll fall in love? What the hell are you saying? What the hell is wrong with you?"
Pamela looked down, and Primus and Prima flew toward them. They sat on her laps and ate their popcorn and drank their drinks.
Their eyes were full of stars and excitement as they alternated their gaze between her and Corey.
"Are we going to have a little brother?" Primus whispered softly into Prima's ears.
Prima shook her head. "Maybe a little sister."
"But I want a little brother." Primus pouted, and Prima scoffed.
"Of course you do. We'll know if we're getting a little brother or little sister... soon."
Crunch
Primus threw a popcorn into his mouth and chewed. With the popcorn still in his mouth, he spoke.
"Soon."
Crunch
Prima did the same, then she nodded.
"Soon."
Corey glared at the duo, and although he wanted to say a million things to them, he decided not to.
They would just piss him off the more.
He looked at Pamela. "Hey... I don't know if you were not listening to me, but I said we can't have a kid. It's far too dangerous and not wise to have a kid at this point."
"And you say we'll fall in love, but I'll most likely leave New Earth. We won't be together."
Pamela looked at Corey, then she scoffed before shifting her gaze back to Primus and Prima.
She rubbed both of their heads with a gentle smile.
"I know what you're trying to say. I know that having a child right now is extremely dangerous, especially after everything you've done and everything you're about to do."
"Then-"
"Don't interrupt me."
Prima pointed at Corey without looking at him, and Corey's left eye twitched, but he kept quiet.
"Good."
She slowly lowered her hand, then she continued speaking.
"Like I said, I know that you have a lot of enemies and you're not safe. You're wanted. I know that, Corey."
She paused, then turned and stared straight and deep into Corey's eyes.
"But let me ask you, Corey. When will you ever not have enemies?"
Corey's eyes widened slightly and his eyes instantly flashed with a trillion thoughts.
"I-I-"
He stuttered, and Pamela smiled warmly at him.
"You see. You can't answer."
She gently picked up Primus and Prima, and brought them close to her face. She smiled at them.
"For you, the only time when you'll be safe is when you're most likely at the peak of power. When you're as strong as your Ancestor... or if you reach a roadblock and can't advance anymore, or you suddenly decide to stop climbing the path of power."
"Those are the three situations where you'll be forced to consider settling down and having a family, and how many years is that going to be from now, Corey.?"
"We both know you'll find a way to get past any future roadblocks on your path to power. I also have the feeling that your ambition would not be so easily doused after knowing about beings like your ancestor."
"You want to be as powerful as them, and if there's a way, you want to surpass them. I can see it in your eyes. It's so visible in your eyes, and even the runes around radiate that ambition of yours."
Corey's eyes flickered, and Pamela snapped her fingers, creating tiny rocking wooden chairs from runes.
Prima and Primus' eyes widened, and they quickly jumped and sat on the rocking wooden chairs.
Pamela smiled softly when she saw the excited expressions of Prima and Primus, then she shifted her gaze back to Corey.
"You'll always have powerful enemies, Corey. Hell, even those beings called the Supremes are already your enemies. Until you reach the peak and you're untouchable, there won't be peace for you."
"Unless you've decided in your heart that you don't want children unless you're at the peak, then you'll have to come to the realization that you might die anytime without leaving behind any of your kids."
Corey looked down with a deep contemplative light in his eyes, and Pamela continued.
"I was also like you until I think a year ago. I knew I'd always have enemies no matter what, but I also want my own children and family."
"Power is lonely, selfish, and wicked because if you have love or loved ones, you can suffer immensely because of it."
"But I don't care. If I want to have children. If I want to have kids, not even power can stop me from having happiness."
"And if any of my enemies hurt any of my loved ones, then I'll kill them in the worst possible way. It's as simple as that."
Corey slowly looked up and looked at Pamela. He wanted to say a million things, but all he could do was release an exhausted sigh.
"You know that if we're to talk about this, we can go on for an entire day before we come to an agreement."
Pamela smiled warmly. "I know that. But at least you're not telling me no and you're not telling me that you don't want to have kids at all."
Corey shook his head with a wry smile. "Well... It's a lot to take in, and it's certainly an eye-opener for me. I've never thought deeply about... love, family, and kids."
Corey released another sigh, then he looked at Pamela with a slightly curious expression.
"Why don't you want to use the method of Survival by Battle to evolve your race? Won't that method be faster for you."
Pamela shook her head with a slightly solemn expression.
"I've used that method so many times, and I feel like my body has gotten way too used to that method... If I want to evolve using that method, I believe I'll have to fight at least a Tier 8 or Tier 9 and win."
"Or worst case scenario... I'll have to fight a god in my current Tier and either win or survive. There's more to it, but that's why I don't want to use that method any longer."
"The requirements is just too high and I might actually die."
She paused and looked to the side.
"You know that my race is already at the peak of the universe, so if I want to advance my race, I'll have to literally perform a universe breaking feat... and that is extremely dangerous for me. Not everybody is like you, you know."
Corey chuckled softly, then he nonchalantly waved his hand.
"I understand. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, let's focus on what's important..."
He waved his right hand, and his status screen appeared in front of him.
"Unlinking myself from the Universal System."
