Skills

Titles

Abilities

Resistance

And so many other things that was shown by the Universal System on a person's status screen.

Very few would question how crushing skill crystals, absorbing soul stones, and gaining Titles made one stronger.

How does the Universal System make one to instantly learn and understand a skill they never knew of before.

How could a human who had only seen movies and anime characters releasing fire balls from their hands suddenly learn how to do the same thing after merely crushing a skill crystal.

How could Titles make a person stronger?

Titles were just that... Titles.

They should not have any effect on their surroundings or the individuals around them. They should just be a sign of accomplishment and pride for the individual, but there were Titles that could increase an individual's physical strength, agility, constitution, and so on.

These things were intangible, so how were they affecting the physical body of an individual, and also others around the individual.

The answer was simple... Runes.

Skill crystals and other items that could allow one to instantly learn and use a skill, accomplished this by infusing the runes of the skill into the individual's soul.

This rune was created by the Universal System, and it was created to make it easier for those who were just being introduced to mana and power.

Whenever one activated a skill they got from the Universal System, what they were doing was activating the rune which would then cause the soul to automatically make the body use the skill.

The person's mana veins, mana flow, muscles, bones, and even breathing would automatically move in the required pattern to perform the skill.

When one raises their skill proficiency, they were basically understanding these runes to a higher level.

Titles were different in the sense that they could not be manually activated. Titles activates on their own when the soul senses that the physical body is in the right environment and conditions for the Title to activate.

Corey realized all of these after he decided to thoroughly inspect every part of himself and also when he was increasing the proficiency of some of his skills to the Origin level.

Whenever he increased his proficiency to the Origin level, he saw the origin of the skill, and... let's just say that it was an eye-opener for him.

It was after he understood this and some other things, he realized that the soul was extremely important to the Universal System.

Or to be more precise... The Supreme Ancestor.

----

As Pamela stared into Corey's Cosmic Soul, the first thing that shook her was not the planets, stars, nebulae, and even black holes she could see from outside his soul.

No

What shook her were the countless runes his soul carried.

She was a Rune Sage, and she understood what these runes meant the moment she looked at them.

What shook her was not only the utter complexity, grade, and beauty of the runes, but the sheer weight they possessed.

Many of these runes were skill runes, title runes, and so on.

And she could see that many of these skills were entirely dormant. These dormant skills were self-created skills, and they possessed so much weight to the point that Pamela wondered if her soul could carry a single one of these terrifying skills.

'How is his soul carrying dozens of these skills? They're even more terrifying than the Forbidden Skills I can see.'

'How did he even create these skills? From what I can see, I don't think he meets the requirements for these skills.'

'Some can only be used when he becomes a Mystic Being, and some can only be used when he becomes an Immortal.'

'So, how did he create these skills?'

'I thought I was terrifying and insane, but he's more insane.'

'His body is unique, but why do I have this gut feeling that his mind is even more unique?'

She glanced at Corey, and she saw him having a stoic and indifferent expression as he gazed inside his soul.

'You already have so much potential and power beyond anybody's imagination, so why do you still want more? Why do you still want to take the risk?'

'Isn't it enough for you?'

Although she had these questions in her mind, she already knew Corey's answers.

Since there was a way for him to get stronger and increase his potential, why shouldn't he take it?

Pamela sighed inwardly, then she shifted her gaze back to his soul.

"Are you sure about this? You'll most likely lose many, if not all of these skills and Titles once you destroy the Universal Brand in your soul... You'll need to start from the very beginning."

Corey remained silent for a few seconds, then he placed his left hand on the shell of his Cosmic Soul.

His Cosmic Soul was still in its shell form, but the cracks on it could not be compared to what it was in the last two years.

Every single part of his Cosmic Soul had cracks on it, and it looked like it would not take much for it to crack.

But that was far from the truth.

A light smile appeared on his lips, then he looked at Pamela.

"My titles and skills are things I can get back with time. Since I already know about them, it wouldn't be so difficult for me to get them."

He paused, then his lips curled up the more.

"Also, I increased the proficiency of certain skills to the Origin level. It should not take me time to get some of those skills back."

Pamela's lips twitched, and though she wanted to say a million things, she chose not to for her own sanity.

'Having more than one skill at Origin level proficiency is not normal, Corey. Especially for a mortal.'

Pamela released a sigh, then she looked down.

She saw Corey's right hand in front of her. He was gesturing for her to hold it, and she did.

"Let's go."

Corey smiled, then with a light push, they both entered his Cosmic Soul.
