Chapter 300: Everything is for Path Determination

A very natural inheritance, Lu Ren had no better explanation. After all, in the village where he lived as a child, people often gave children humble nicknames with the belief that it would help them survive.

And in ancient times, the infant mortality rate was quite high for children born in ordinary families due to extremely poor production resources and living environment. Poor families had to have more children, raising them casually, and considering one or two surviving was already quite good.

Erwa ran swiftly all the way, carrying Lu Ren to a thatched cottage at the foot of the mountain.

This thatched cottage was dilapidated and showed signs of repair, but the craftsmanship was truly unbearable to look at, even damaging the overall structure of the house, making it seem shaky, as if it would fall at a gust of wind.

Lu Ren shook his head at the sight.

"Do you live here?"

Erwa nodded slightly, putting Lu Ren down in front of the thatched cottage, with a happy smile, said, "I fenced off this empty space a few days ago, it's all mine now, I'm planning to plant some vegetables!"

Looking at the bamboo sticks leaning at odd angles, with vines desperately trying to keep them upright, he turned and glanced at the stack of straw inside the cottage.

Lu Ren sighed, feeling that growing up in such extremely harsh living conditions, Erwa's survival so far was certainly not easy.

"Uncle, you stay here for a while, I'm going into the mountains to hunt, I'll be back soon."

After putting Lu Ren on the pile of straw, Erwa said while giving instructions.

Without waiting for Lu Ren to speak, Erwa put down the basket, which Lu Ren could tell contained various herbs and the like.

Then Erwa took a bow and arrows from the side and dashed out in a flash.

Lu Ren didn't say much, Erwa was agile, fast, and had tremendous strength, his constitution was clearly very special. Moving in the outskirts of the forest, with his abilities, there was no need to worry about his survival.

In less than an hour, Lu Ren vaguely smelled a bloody scent wafting through the air.

He opened his eyes to see Erwa enthusiastically running from afar, carrying something like a small mountain—a huge boar-like animal.

Then watched as Erwa cleaned the boar by the nearby river, started a bonfire, and began roasting it directly on the fire.

After nearly three to four hours of busy activity, Erwa cut a piece of mostly raw meat from the boar and chewed it with gusto before slicing off another piece, sprinkling coarse salt mixed with dirt on it, and offering it to Lu Ren.

"Here, this wild boar's meat is quite good, although it has a bit of a strong smell, the taste isn't as overpowering when cooked."

The almost pungent and ammonia-like smell hit Lu Ren directly, akin to an olfactory assault, causing a physiological reaction in his stomach.

Involuntarily, he held his breath.

"Take it away, quickly, I'm not hungry!"

Seeing Lu Ren's furrowed brow, Erwa pouted, swallowed, and shook the meat in his hand.

"Really not eating?"

"Not eating, thank you."

After confirming Lu Ren wasn't hungry, Erwa didn't give it much thought, focusing entirely on the boar, which was charred on the outside and partly raw on the inside.

Under Lu Ren's surprised gaze, Erwa devoured almost the entire boar down to the bones, his stomach only slightly protruding then.

She patted her belly with satisfaction, letting out a rare belch.

"Actually, it's tough catching these wild boars. Lucky today, this one wandered out of the territory, looks like a defeated challenger expelled from its group."

She gestured with her hands, her little face quite animated.

"You might not have seen them, those wild boars a lot taller than me, charging through the forests in herds, not even those winged tigers dare to confront them."

Lu Ren gave a couple of perfunctory responses, noticing that this little girl seemingly hadn't spoken to anyone in a long time, her small mouth never stopping.

Mostly trivial matters of life, so much so that Lu Ren didn't need to ask anything, as Erwa conveyed all the information she knew.

This place is called Taihang Mountain Range, twenty miles from where Erwa lives sits a village, beyond which lies Bluestone Town. The fur, bones, and some herbs Erwa hunts are all entrusted to Grandpa Niu from the village to trade in exchange for coarse salt and other supplies.

Lu Ren felt quite speechless, as the Grandpa Niu, whom Erwa spoke highly of, sounded to Lu Ren like the quintessential skinflint, almost vampire-like compared to modern capitalists.

Eventually growing weary of listening, Lu Ren asked, "Why don't you live in the village?"

Erwa immediately fell silent, her mood dampened, fidgeting for quite a while before speaking softly, counting her fingers, "They dislike me, call me a freak, so I don't like interacting with them. Living alone is quite nice."

Lu Ren was thoughtful, then said.

"Did you build this thatched cottage?"

Erwa replied bashfully, "I don't really know how; when the wind and rain get heavy, the house collapses, and I have to hide in the nearby cave to shelter from the rain."

"Then why so persistent in building a house? Why not just live in the cave?"

"My mom, my dad used to live in a house."

Lu Ren listened in silence, indeed, Erwa was pitiful, but many in the world were even more unfortunate than her. At least Erwa wasn't troubled by livelihood, given her agility, she could lead quite a comfortable life.

He pondered for a moment and spoke, "I may need to stay with you for a while, I can teach you how to build a house, what do you think?"

"Really?!"

Erwa was extremely excited, nodding repeatedly in agreement, clearly pleased to have someone accompanying her.

Immediately, Erwa snuggled beside Lu Ren's straw pile and fell asleep right there.

Lu Ren shook his head watching; indeed, Erwa was quite straightforward, her mind untainted like a blank piece of paper.

A good thing, but also a bad.

He slowly closed his eyes, continuing to use the Breathing and Exhaling Technique to drive the Ten Lands True Scripture, constantly circulating to condense Spirit, and strengthen physique.

His power was still growing continuously, the Seventh Far-Reaching Land Realm hadn't reached its limits, and with the increasing Skill Level, his potential continued rising.

Moreover, as the Seventh Far-Reaching Land initially condenses the Bodhisattva Path Fruit, with the preliminary formation of Bodhisattva Golden Body, it granted him many wonders, the Buddhist Six Techniques, Taoist Proverbs, still letting him immerse deeply, pondering profundities.

Beyond the Seventh Land, far surpassing the Sixth Land.

This was the third Limit Breaking; at this pace, reaching the Tenth Land might involve three more Limit Breaking.

However, surprisingly, his Ten Lands True Scripture advanced to the Seventh Land, while in the Seventh Step of Bright Awakening as Spirit and body under another Limit Breaking, it had initially stepped into the Eighth Step of Bright Awakening.
