Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear

Chapter 307: Yeo Haru's Nightmare (Paper Figure's POV) (1)

Outside the locker room, the group heard a familiar gurgling sound. They opened a crack in the door to take a peek at the pool area. The pool had started churning and swirling once more. On its surface, the paper figure they had left behind in place of Yeo Haru was still floating along the waves.

"Error. Error."

Along with this unnatural disturbance, the pool started complaining once more.

"There's an error again?" Rayen glanced at Adrian.

"Well, I just used the Playwright's Quill to write Yeo Haru's name. As for whether its Characterization Skill would work, it worked earlier. Now, I don't know."

Playwright's Quill's Characterization Skill could only create a character and assign it to a person to gain this character's attribute. Substituting Yeo Haru's name for the paper figure had only been a helpless gamble by Adrian.

As for the error now...

Rayen listened to the error message carefully.

"Error. Error. Emotional Event not triggered."

It was a different one. It wasn't 'incomplete' anymore, but 'not triggered'.

But why?

Adrian rested his hand on his chin, deep in thought.

"Maybe because that's an NPC? It shouldn't have any emotions or memories?" Adrian said. "Anyway, why don't you just ask the chat support?"

"Chat support?" the others asked simultaneously. "You can ask the chat support for something like this?"

Rayen glanced at Adrian.

'Chat support, my ass.'

Nevertheless, Rayen still pulled out his phone and headed toward the so-called 'chat support'.

[Rayen: In the midst of trouble. Is anyone here?]

Immediately, Mini Plotter sent a response.

[Propagator: (Mini_Plotter_sleeping.gif)]

'So what if you're sleeping?'

Raen decisively ignored this message and sent another one.

[Rayen: What do we do if a mission experiences an error?]

Mini Plotter only sent a series of ellipses and went silent for a moment. Then, there was a change outside. The surface of the water suddenly changed into something like a computer screen with a series of codes appearing on it.

[Debug commencing... Finding errors...]

[Host name: Haru... CHECK]

[Role: Scenario Core... CHECK]

[Restarting simulation according to host's memory core data...]

The lines of code surrounded the paper figure floating amidst the harsh waves of the pool. This substitute of Yeo Haru was tossed and turned, and whenever it did, its limbs would rise up into the sky as though asking for help.

Yet, no one came to its rescue. It looked quite pitiful.

[ERROR: Memory core data mismatched. Debugging...]

[ERROR: Debug unsuccessful...]

Several red error messages appeared across the water. The pool had already turned red from all of these messages, so it seemed like the paper figure was drowning in a pool of blood.

Seeing this, the members of SEEDZ all felt their backs turning cold.

"This looks really, really bad, Rayeye. I think we should really, really put Haruru back into the water..."

"What problems do you have with me, Xi Huan?" Yeo Haru said.

Just then, a ding from Rayen's phone shut the two up. Mini Plotter finally replied to Rayen's message earlier.

[Propagator: What have you done? This memory data... How did an NPC become Yeo Haru?]

[Rayen: Well... We fished out Yeo Haru too early and then there was an error. We can't just shove Haru back to the pool, right? So, we renamed a sacrificial paper figure in his place.]

Mini Plotter sent another batch of ellipses.

[Propagator: You should have put him back and just waited for a few moments! That was supposed to be your mission! Let him realize the emotions and then you go and save him!]

There's no way Rayen could do that! He couldn't just let the poor kid suffer again after tasting salvation, alright? Why is this mission so cruel to Yeo Haru? What did the kid even do to you?

Besides, shouldn't the system put up a timer so they wouldn't make that mistake in the first place?

[Propagator: Haru's memories are the ones supporting this Mission Scenario. If you suddenly substituted a different person with a different memory in his place... This... There's no saving this. The error had already produced another error.]

As Rayen received that message, the voice outside cried out once again.

"Error. Error. Detected a mismatch in the Memory Data. Error. Error. Unknown Life Book fragment missing. Error. Error. Error."

[Propagator: I'll do my best to work this out.]

[Propagator has gone offline.]

Rayen turned to look at Adrian with a wry smile.

"Unfortunately, the chat support said it can only try its best to send us its heartfelt support."

"....."

Rayen and the others could only look at the error that was happening outside. The paper figure had been drowning for a while now, and it had gradually begun to dissolve.

"I really pity the paper figure... Should we put Haruru back?" Xi Huan said again before looking at Yeo Haru. "It's just for a short moment, Haruru. We will fish you out after, don't worry."

"....." Yeo Haru was rendered speechless.

It wasn't just the pool that was experiencing the changes. The entire surrounding area had also started getting affected. The concrete walls began to transform into a wall of text.

Suddenly, it seemed like they were inside a book — literally. The walls were the pages, and not just ordinary pages but a parchment, just like the pages of a Life Book Page.

Is this entire scenario a Life Book?

[ERROR: Memory core mismatched... Debugging...]

The words in the papers also began to deteriorate and change. Everyone watched as everything in the entire scenario was getting erased and then restored with their naked eyes.

[ERROR: Debugged.]

Soon after this message appeared, the scenario gradually returned to normal. The walls became walls again, and the pool was no longer red and had calmed down. However, the drowning paper figure had been reduced to mush.

Rayen and the others looked at its multiple body pieces floating away from each other in the calm surface of the pool water.

'Was this Mini Plotter's doing?'

"It was resolved?" Adrian looked at Rayen.

Rayen, who also didn't know the answer could only look at his phone screen. However, Mini Plotter had not come back at all.

Suddenly, a new pop-up window appeared on his screen.
