From A Producer To A Global Superstar

Chapter 157: Life of Min-Jae (1)

Min-Jae woke up slowly, blinking at the ceiling for a few seconds before sitting up. He stretched his arms and dragged himself out of bed. When his feet touched the cold floor, he sighed and walked toward the bathroom.

He washed his face, brushed his teeth, and glanced around the room with a small smile tugging at his lips.

If anyone had told him years ago that he would one day live in a mansion like this… he would have laughed in their face. Back then, he could barely afford rent. Now, he woke up every morning in a house big enough to confuse him sometimes.

He shook his head lightly, still smiling, grabbed his brush from the counter, and walked out of the room.

The hallway was spotless. Everything lined up neatly.

As he walked toward the dining room, he heard faint sounds from the kitchen. The dining room was open and close to it, so he could see her immediately.

His girlfriend — the one who had been with him through everything — stood by the counter mixing something in a bowl. Her hair was tied up, and she wore simple home clothes, but she looked perfect to him.

Min-Jae walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Yeobo," he murmured softly in Korean, "what are you cooking?"

She laughed and turned her head slightly. "Since when did you start asking? You always eat everything. Are you suddenly judging my food?"

Min-Jae raised both hands in surrender. "No, no. Never. Your food is perfect."

She shook her head and tapped his forehead playfully. "Good. Because you eat like a child."

He laughed and kissed her cheek before letting her go." I am your kid."

Yeobo laughed she had been with him since before fame… before money… before recognition. When his parents passed and his whole world collapsed, she stayed. She helped him, managed the house, and practically became a part of the family.

Losing her was something he didn't even want to imagine.

He sat at the dining table while she set the plates. They ate together quietly, talking about little things — the weather, his schedule, her plans for the day.

After breakfast, he grabbed his jacket, slipped on his shoes, and headed out.

The driver pulled up immediately.

"Good morning, sir," the driver said as Min-Jae got in.

"Morning," Min-Jae replied.

His assistant climbed into the front seat and turned around to hand him a tablet.

"These are the updates for today," she said.

She began swiping through different profiles and progress reports.

"First — the BTS global tour. Everything is on track. Ticket sales are insane as usual. They're preparing for the big Japan show next month."

Min-Jae nodded. "Good. Make sure their alignment with the Japan label is stable. No last-minute issues."

"Yes, sir. Already taken care of."

She swiped again.

"And for the new girl group — recordings are going smoothly. Studio sessions booked. Production on schedule. We are only waiting for the final vocal profile of the last member."

"Okay. No problem. Continue."

She tapped the final file.

"And this…" she paused, her eyes widening slightly. "…this is the update concerning the Movie 'Train to Busan.'"

Min-Jae raised a brow. "The one we received from above, right?"

"Yes. The movie project. The one they handed to you last quarter. The studio wasn't secured, so the team went ahead and bought it outright. It was cheaper and faster."

Min-Jae leaned forward. "So production started?"

"Yes. They've already filmed the first chunk. The set is ready. They're waiting for you to visit today."

He nodded, a spark of excitement hitting him. He had been waiting to see how the project would turn out. It wasn't a huge movie, but it had potential — and he wanted to make sure everything aligned with with Dayo's vision.

"Alright," he said. "Let's go to the set."

The assistant nodded and relayed the instruction to the driver.

Min-Jae sat back in his seat, scrolling through the files again, his mind already shifting into work mode.

Upon arriving at the set, Min-Jae looked around. This was his first time coming to a film set, apart from when he recorded his music video, which was about two years ago.

Min-Jae stepped out of the car and looked around. The set was bigger than he expected. Lights, props, cameras, staff running around — everything felt alive. Different sections were marked out with signs showing where each scene would be filmed.

As he walked forward, a man approached him quickly.

"Min-Jae-ssi?" the man asked.

Min-Jae turned. "Yes?"

The man bowed slightly. "I'm Director Jang-Wook."

Min-Jae bowed back respectfully. "Ah, Director-nim. I've been looking forward to meeting you."

Director Jang-Wook smiled. "Not at all. Your reputation precedes you. I've wanted to meet you for a while."

They shook hands, and Min-Jae looked around again. "The set looks good."

"We're trying our best," the director said. "Your team told me you were coming, so I cleared some time."

Min-Jae nodded. "I just wanted to see how everything is going."

Director Jang-Wook tapped the script he was holding. "May I ask… who gave you this script? The one for the new 'Train to Busan' project?"

Min-Jae hesitated for a second, then smiled lightly. "Someone I know. Someone with good instincts."

"A friend?"

"Something like that," Min-Jae said, shrugging.

The director opened the script a little and shook his head in amazement. "Well, whoever gave it to you… they're a genius. This script is incredible. I'm not exaggerating when I say it has blockbuster potential."

Min-Jae raised a brow. "Really?"

"Yes," Director Jang-Wook said with confidence. "I've worked with hundreds of scripts, and this is one of the most unique ones I've seen in a long time. The pacing, the emotion, the action — everything is balanced. If executed well, this can break records."

Min-Jae let out a small laugh. "That's… surprising. Good surprising."

"It's full of twists," the director continued. "Even I didn't see some of the story turns coming. Whoever wrote this understands how to keep an audience hooked."

Min-Jae nodded. "Alright. That's good to hear. I only came to look around and get a feel of the place."

Director Jang-Wook asked, "Are you leaving already?"

"Yes, I just needed to check the progress."

The director nodded respectfully. "Understood."

Min-Jae paused. "So… when will filming begin?"

"We're only waiting for the final orders," Director Jang-Wook said. "Once you give the go-ahead, we start immediately."

Min-Jae nodded once. "You can begin. Everything looks good."

Director Jang-Wook gave a satisfied smile. "Then we'll get to work right away."

Min-Jae gave him one last nod and turned to leave the set, hands in his pockets, mind already shifting to the next thing on his schedule.
