From A Producer To A Global Superstar

Chapter 156: Instant exposure

The moment the video hit the internet, it exploded.

One of the reasons the video was an instant massive hit was because this was the first thing Dayo was posting since he came back after four years, and the internet attacked it like a hungry hyena. People had waited too long. Some had even given up hope of him ever coming back online. So the moment the notification appeared, it was like the whole world suddenly pressed pause.

Within minutes, numbers started climbing at a speed that didn't even look normal.

TikTok had the highest numbers, with more than 55 million followers flooding in.

His Instagram climbed to about 35 million followers, and his X (Twitter) crossed 20 million followers with ease.

People were following him on every platform like their life depended on it.

Comments flew nonstop.

Notifications were vibrating so fast that even Sharon had to mute her phone because it was making her anxious.

Under the TikTok video:

"WHERE IS THE FULL VIDEO OMG!!!"

"JD is making content now?? I thought I was dreaming."

"JD does charity?"

"Y'all acting surprised?? He's been doing charity for YEARS. Don't you know he once donated the whole 1M prize he won??"

"Wait… JD has an NGO??"

"Yes. Check his linktree. He didn't disappear completely, you just weren't paying attention."

"My gosh I feel like a bad fan for not knowing JD had an NGO."

"Look at the lady crying… imagine how long she's been carrying that stress."

"Nah that old man broke me. This is real humanity."

"WHERE IS THE FULL VIDEO?!"

"It's on his YouTube!! He said only the full one is there."

"BRO I'M RUNNING THERE NOW."

"JD as a content creator??? Who is this man??"

"I miss JD the musician 😭 but this content is FIRE."

"Both can exist. Let him cook."

"Why does he look even younger than four years ago?? Bro what water is he drinking??"

"JD is one of the few people that can disappear for years and come back like he never left."

His YouTube received more than 800k followers in the first hour, just two hundred thousand less than the record held for the fastest one-hour subscriber growth in history.

By the end of the day, he had gained more than 15 million new subscribers, bringing him to 40,000,000+ subscribers.

A number that didn't even make sense.

People had been starving for four years — starving for anything connected to JD — and the internet attacked the video like hungry hyenas. Even people who didn't know him before were now getting pulled in by the hype.

More comments kept coming:

"AH finally found the full video."

"This is edited."

"Nah look at their reaction. This is real."

"Deepfake, maybe?"

"Nah, I was THERE. I saw him live. He even gave me chocolate."

"I mean how can somebody call this fake? Look at the tears of joy in the eyes of the people."

"Lol hired actors are rampant."

"You upstairs need therapy. And why would he do that? Someone who is worth more than you can ever be."

"Oh that's deep hehe."

"Yeah yeah you can say all you want, this is PR and nothing else."

"Haters in the building. You will cry. JD IS BACK AND HE IS GOING NOWHERE."

"But I expected new music, not a video content. Although I like the content."

"Yeah you upstairs mirror my thought."

"Well he can't rush it."

"I am new here and I just listened to JD's song for the first time. How did I never hear this masterpiece before??"

"Lmao I just ordered an album now."

"Yoo I'm going to get JAD Treats. Heard it has that homemade feeling."

"Doing the same too."

"Me three hahaha."

Even the chocolate brand, JAD Treats, trended at #3 globally, with people ordering packs of the chocolate from different countries. Some stores even ran out of stock within hours.

By the end of the day, JD's YouTube had crossed 50 million subscribers, making it one of the fastest jumps in history.

Across all platforms combined, Dayo had more than 160 million followers.

Before he left, he had around 200 million.

And now, in less than a week, he had gained more than half of what he previously lost.

Inside JD Records Headquarters

Meanwhile, Dayo was in his office at JD Records.

Wayne, Valerie, Ulrich, and Alice sat around the meeting table with tablets in hand.

Charts, numbers, graphs — all of them rising like crazy.

Wayne cleared his throat. "Alright, so… updates."

Valerie slid her tablet to Dayo. "Your numbers have doubled across every platform. Literally doubled. Streams have shot up by more than 500% in the last 24 hours."

Ulrich added, "Your old album — The Other side — sold over 100,000 digital copies today alone. After four years of silence."

Alice tapped her screen. "And three songs re-entered the Billboard charts. 'Say Something ft Luna' is back at #132, 'Heavenly' is at #190, and the album The Other Side re-entered the Billboard 200 at #178."

Wayne smiled. "And this is all from a single content video. No promo. No interviews. Just the video."

Valerie looked at Dayo. "Your editing trick worked. Using your songs as background audio… people went back to replay them. That's what caused the spike."

Ulrich nodded. "Everywhere online, they're calling this the greatest unplanned comeback in modern entertainment."

Alice added softly, "They missed you, JD. And it shows."

Dayo leaned back in his chair, absorbing everything quietly.

He had expected growth… but not this.

Not a wave strong enough to resurrect a four-year-old album and push it back onto Billboard.

He exhaled slowly, eyes steady.

"Good," he said. "Then let's keep going."

Everyone in the room nodded.

Ulrich checked his screen again. "Oh, and some people are asking for new music."

Dayo smiled. "Yeah, I know they would ask. But that's on pause."

"So we let them starve?" Ulrich asked.

"Hm. Kind of."

"But why? We already dealt with Michael and his weak point."

Dayo smirked, playing with the pen in his hand. "Michael wasn't an issue from the start."

"What?" they all said almost at the same time.

The room went silent. They genuinely believed Michael was the reason Dayo hadn't released anything. Hearing that he wasn't the real reason made all of them more curious.

Alice finally broke the silence. "So who is it?"

Dayo gave a playful smile. "You all will know in due time."

Then he heard a familiar sound.
