The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 136: Shocking the Past and Present

Brahma Void Heavenly Court, the fires of war illuminated the night sky, with streaks of Immortal Light shining brightly, resembling the cascading fires of the Nine Heavens.

This battle has already been going on for ten days, and there is still no sign of stopping.

Sun Wukong and Emperor Yao, both supreme rulers of the Heavenly Court, battled from one-on-one to later manifesting countless Dharma Bodies, wielding the Heavenly Dao and fiercely engaging each other.

Chaos unfolded like a scroll being pulled, terrifying and suffocating.

"When will this war end?"

People wondered.

Though the battle between the two Heavenly Emperors took place atop the Star Palace of death, the cascading fires still reached other places, generating violent explosions.

Creatures in nearby Star Palaces were utterly terrified, in a state of constant alarm.

Death is frightening, but seeing death approach without knowing when it will strike is even more terrifying.

"How has it not reached the limit?"

The White Robed Venerate watched the sky.

This war had gone on for too long, and Sun Wukong's potential had exceeded his expectations.

The White Robed Venerate was about to issue an order when he suddenly turned his head towards the Light Gate.

There, thousands of Buddhist disciples gathered at the gate, suspended in Chaos, with golden clouds stretching for dozens of miles.

They were about to pass through the Light Gate when suddenly, with a thunderous rumble, a burst of golden light emerged fiercely from the gate, its fighting spirit soaring.

The golden light struck the golden clouds, with thunderbolts crossing through, striking down countless Buddhist disciples in an instant.

The Buddhist disciples near the Light Gate reacted promptly and engaged them in fierce battle.

"Buddha?"

The White Robed Venerate looked and frowned.

"Great King, we're here to help you!"

A crisp voice resonated in the void.

The voice, like music from heaven, was audible to everyone.

The White Robed Venerate looked and saw a young girl.

Sun Wukong, who was in combat, also turned around and saw it was Daji.

She clashed with the Buddhist disciples, Immortal Light streaking across hundreds of miles, White silk waving, thousands of Buddhist disciples perishing in a daze.

Sun Wukong's eyes then caught sight of the Buddha sitting near the Light Gate and he couldn't help but smile, "Good."

The Buddhist disciples from the Heavenly Court always attempted to fly into the void, and while they didn't directly affect Sun Wukong, they indeed distracted him, preventing him from giving his all.

Seeing the Buddha's arrival, Sun Wukong felt a sense of relief, his fighting spirit surged anew, exuding an extraordinary majesty.

"I am going all out now!"

Sun Wukong, standing in the void atop his Cloud Shoes, declared to Emperor Yao.

Emperor Yao was on full alert, raising his Heavy Sword.

"This guy is a monster!"

He thought to himself, having never encountered someone like Sun Wukong throughout the millennia.

He was protected by his Blood Soul, impervious to harm, something that would have driven most to despair.

But not Sun Wukong; facing the Blood Soul, he was as fiery as one who finds his target.

"I've never seen anyone who could fight like this!"

Emperor Yao thought.

Perhaps by coincidence, just then, Sun Wukong also spoke, "You're good; I've never seen anyone who could withstand so much!"

Emperor Yao almost felt like spitting blood.

Sun Wukong's combat spirit was boiling; this fight truly invigorated him.

None of his previous opponents could take hits like Emperor Yao.

Now, Sun Wukong felt slightly reluctant for it to end.

"I have a new move, watch out!"

Sun Wukong lifted his Jingu Bang, its radiance shifting, a blood tide overwhelming the essence of sun and moon, blocking everything.

What's happening!

Emperor Yao looked as the Jingu Bang transformed into millions, staining Chaos with blood, forming a terrifying Killing Formation.

This move's aura, why does it feel so familiar.

"Heavenly Tribulation!"

Sun Wukong swung down, the blood tide boiling, successive shadows of his staff striking down.

Emperor Yao tried to dodge, but suddenly felt a chilling sensation behind him as bloodied hands from deep beneath seized him.

The relentless staff strikes bombarded him, countless Tao converging and attacking, various Dao Fruits emerging and then being extinguished, the impact staggering.

Several Star Palaces were engulfed by the Blood Sea, horrifying yet dazzling, lasting for a long time.

This familiar scene also sent chills down the White Robed Venerate's spine.

Impossible!

This move, isn't it the same one used by Emperor Yao against Sun Wukong earlier?

That move was the culmination of all of Emperor Yao's Dao Fruits, how could Sun Wukong have learned it?

Countless people stared in shock at the Blood Sea.

After a long time, Emperor Yao emerged from the Blood Sea.

"You are still unharmed."

Sun Wukong looked at the blood light on his body: "You really should thank them for their protection."

"You stole this move!"

Emperor Yao said with a cold face.

"From the way you speak, do you think I would only learn one move?"

Sun Wukong shook his head: "I have learned all your moves."

He swung his staff casually, and the shadows of the staff intertwined into a Blood Sword, slashing towards Emperor Yao, which was another one of his moves.

Emperor Yao went all out, resisting the murderous Blood Sword.

"Despicable!"

He cursed loudly: "Stealing skills is no talent!"

"We are all fighting, learning from each other; you can learn mine too."

Sun Wukong laughed loudly: "I didn't stop you!"

Emperor Yao cursed inwardly.

He certainly wanted to absorb Sun Wukong's Daoist Skill, but learning a different Heavenly Dao was extremely difficult.

He simply couldn't learn it.

Sun Wukong was like a monster.

"I will definitely suppress you!"

Emperor Yao grew increasingly angry, Divine Power burst forth, killing intent spread, attacking recklessly.

He couldn't delay any longer, continuing to do so, even protected by the Blood Soul, would result in a complete defeat.

Emperor Yao became anxious.

On the ground, the White Robed Venerate looked cool as water.

"Emperor Yao has fought for too long, his Dao Heart is wounded, no longer stable."

The Venerate watched Emperor Yao, his blood light soaring to the sky, Divine Skills fully unleashed, already unable to fight for long.

The White Robed Venerate couldn't just stand by and watch.

He called many Bodhisattvas: "I underestimated that Sun Wukong, you better go over!"

The Bodhisattvas couldn't feel happy at all.

"Does Sun Wukong have no limit?"

They all knew that the White Robed Venerate hoped to use Emperor Yao to push Sun Wukong to his limit, to rise to the level of War God.

But after observing for over a dozen days, Sun Wukong kept rising, yet he never reached his limit.

The current battle was far from enough to force Sun Wukong into becoming a War God.

"Venerate, how much longer can Sun Wukong fight!"

The Bodhisattvas asked.

The White Robed Venerate shook his head: "I don't know."

The Bodhisattvas looked at each other, then flew towards Chaos.

The White Robed Venerate watched their backs, sighing inwardly.

Sacrifice was now inevitable.

Feeling new enemies approaching, a frightening fluctuation surged in the sky.

"Good timing!"

Sun Wukong shouted loudly, his divine majesty fierce, his brilliance like the sun.

The White Robed Venerate looked over, a flash of envy in his eyes.

Sun Wukong grew stronger as he fought, limitless; all beings in Chaos must be reborn through fire, Sun Wukong hadn't done that yet, but he could match the fully achieved Emperor Yao.

For him, perhaps War God was just a new starting point, a foundation for further improvement.

But the current war, for him, was still not enough.

Sun Wukong hadn't reached his limit, so he wouldn't be reborn through fire.

Such terrifying talent, the White Robed Venerate had never seen before.

"Truly can be said to shake the ancients and dazzle the present..."

The White Robed Venerate thought to himself.

If Sun Wukong continued to grow, in a few hundred years, he might very well be a match for the Venerate.
