Sun Wukong walked into the palace and discovered another world within.
This was an altar, with pavilions and towers, as beautiful as the Immortal Realm, with pristine mist floating in the air, transcending the mundane world.
Above the altar, a pagoda-shaped object was steaming with Spiritual Energy, enshrouded in various colored mists.
Sun Wukong walked over.
"Is it you?"
He asked.
"It is I."
The pagoda answered.
Sun Wukong furrowed his brow slightly: "Who are you?"
"I am Mother Earth's Lifebound Treasure."
The pagoda answered, "After the calamity of the Heavenly Court, I assumed the form of a pagoda to protect the War God Seal."
"What is that?"
Sun Wukong looked at a jade object within the pagoda.
"The War God Seal."
The pagoda answered, "I am the guardian. Only by obtaining it can you subdue me."
It opened the tower gate, and surging blood light bloomed, flowing through the air as if it had life.
The War God Seal was the size of a goose egg and entirely crimson.
Sun Wukong reached his hand into the pagoda. The War God Seal suddenly burst forth with blood light. Before Sun Wukong's hand even got close, it spewed endless killing intent.
Sun Wukong's vision blurred as if he had entered a battlefield. A massive army descended upon him from the sky, the Blood Sea overwhelming, terrifyingly boundless.
That was the killing intent!
The War God Seal, after endless years and countless battlefields, sent a deluge of killing intent at Sun Wukong, roaring and trembling as if the whole world was shaking, awe-inspiring.
This vast army could engulf and drive any person who perceived it into madness.
But to Sun Wukong, it was ineffective.
The army engulfed Sun Wukong.
"Boom"
A golden shockwave erupted, sharp as a sword, tearing the army apart, turning the soldiers into dust.
After the dust vanished, Sun Wukong stood alone on the battlefield, cloaked in red flames, the killing intent possessing him, ominous like a death star.
Yet his eyes remained as clear as always, unchanged.
"Splendid."
A voice emerged: "Only with such willpower are you worthy of the War God Seal."
A man appeared before Sun Wukong.
He was a tall man, holding a giant axe, solid as a rock.
He stood there, eyes blazing with fire, his fighting spirit surging.
"Are you Xingtian?"
Sun Wukong was uncertain.
"I am the collective will to fight of all beings."
Xingtian said, "Different from previous trials, I truly exist, the embodiment of the War God Seal."
Sun Wukong nodded.
"Then here I come!"
Xingtian charged at him, his giant axe like a burning sun, intensely dazzling, smashing down on Sun Wukong like a mountain.
Sun Wukong narrowed his eyes but did not dodge.
This was not a contest of immortal power but of will. He knew that if he dodged, he would surely fail the trial.
Sun Wukong could not retreat, and indeed, had no need to retreat!
Xingtian roared, the giant axe splitting into thousands of blood lights, all striking Sun Wukong, instantly exploding into countless flashes of light, thunderous, as if numerous lightning strikes were detonating.
Sun Wukong stood unmoved as a mountain.
The power of the War God Seal came from the collective will to fight, but when it comes to willpower, Sun Wukong was second to none.
This was the dignity of his Immortal Position.
Ultimately, Xingtian's attacks were blocked by Sun Wukong, unable to break through.
"Boom!"
Even so, Xingtian's assault created a vast ocean of fighting spirit and waves of blood around Sun Wukong.
Sun Wukong stood atop the ocean, untainted by the blood waves.
"Though there be tens of thousands, you shall proceed."
Xingtian stowed his giant axe.
"Had the War God been alive, he would surely have wished to battle you."
He gleamed allover, beginning to vanish.
His trial was over, and he felt some satisfaction: "You are truly the War God."
Sun Wukong's will did not waver in the slightest; such determination, even the former War God did not possess.
"From today on, the Heavenly Court is in your hands to protect."
With those words, Xingtian disappeared.
As he vanished, a jade artifact flew out of the Pagoda and drifted in front of Sun Wukong.
This was the War God Seal, as well as the Immortal Position of the War God.
Sun Wukong hesitated for a moment; his battle intent was sometimes too strong, and accepting this seal would surely make it even stronger.
Excessive battle intent is not always a good thing.
Just as he was pondering this, the Pagoda suddenly illuminated, transforming into a young maiden.
"Master, please take the War God Seal!"
The maiden knelt on the ground and said, "You are the most revered in heaven and earth; with the War God Seal, you will surely be able to defeat the White Robed Venerable!"
A glint flashed in Sun Wukong's eyes: "Why do you say that?"
"The White Robed Heavenly Emperor came here tens of thousands of years ago."
The maiden said, "He took away the Heavenly Emperor Jade Seal. The War God Seal is the only thing that can threaten him; he wanted me to surrender the seal, but I refused."
She told Sun Wukong that there are two things in the Brahma Void Heavenly Court that can control the wills of all beings: one is the Heavenly Emperor Jade Seal, the other is the War God Seal.
The War God Seal can defeat the Heavenly Emperor Jade Seal.
"If I were the White Robed Venerable, I would have to get the War God Seal."
Sun Wukong asked, "Why did he let you go?"
"The White Robed Venerable never let me go."
The maiden replied, "The Heavenly Emperor governs the Three Realms of heaven, earth, and humanity. As Mother Earth's Magical Treasure, I am immortal and indestructible; he could not eradicate me, only seal me here."
Sun Wukong understood.
He eyed the War God Seal floating in mid-air, still hesitant.
"Master."
Seeing this, the maiden said, "I have seen that White Robed Venerable. He looks the same as the Venerable who killed the Heavenly Emperor."
"The same!?"
Sun Wukong's body shuddered; his heart stirred like towering waves.
The White Robed Venerable and the Venerable looked the same?
"Is that true?"
Sun Wukong asked in a cold voice.
"True."
The maiden said, "He is good at concealing himself, but he cannot deceive me."
Sun Wukong fell into deep thought.
"Alright."
Sun Wukong immediately said, "I accept the War God Seal."
He absorbed the War God Seal into his body, and with a thunderous roar, his battle intent surged like startling thunder, stirring up a fierce Blood Sea inside the palace, extremely domineering.
The Blood Sea enveloped Sun Wukong; his body trembled with excitement, with exhilaration.
"Return!"
Sun Wukong shouted, and the Blood Sea abruptly contracted, being retracted back to the depths of his heart.
Since his enlightenment, Sun Wukong's battle intent had leaked for the first time.
He was too strong; every battle was never fulfilling, leading to a fire that had been smoldering in his heart over time.
After accepting the War God Seal, this flame grew even more intense.
Sun Wukong calmed his heart and looked at the maiden: "Let's go out."
"Yes."
The excited maiden nodded and followed Sun Wukong outside: "I will go and capture those four Golden Dragons!"
"You will capture?"
Sun Wukong stopped in his tracks: "Aren't you telling me how to capture them?"
"Tell the master?"
The maiden realized, "Does the master wish to learn Shattering Void? No, you cannot learn it yet."
"Shattering Void?"
It was only then that Sun Wukong discovered that the power of Hidden Soul was called Shattering Void.
"Why can't I learn it?"
He asked.
"It cannot be learned here."
The maiden answered.
Of course, Sun Wukong would have to learn Shattering Void sooner or later; otherwise, without this power, he would never be able to defeat the White Robed Venerable.
But Shattering Void was not so simple to master.
"In the Chaos, there is a Void that both exists and does not exist here; it is the fastest route through Chaos."
The maiden said, "To learn its power, Master needs the right time, place, and harmony; none can be lacking."
