The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 132: The Sword is Not Bad

A sea of silver light, the Brahma Void Star Sea, ablaze with war.

Two arcs of rainbow light collided between star palaces, emitting earth-shattering sounds of staff and sword, divine light eclipsing the sun, flames soaring to the sky, space itself distorting.

An overwhelming army of Buddhas shouted as they joined the battlefield, yet they couldn't catch up to the combat speed of those two rays of rainbow light.

Occasional streaks of firelight shot out, sending the Buddhas tumbling through the clouds and plummeting down.

Sun Wukong wielded the Jingu Bang, igniting the endless divine power within his body, merging the will of the War God Seal with himself, continuously growing stronger, breaking limits.

He and the man in white battled from the chaos to the surface, the flash of light from their collision briefly exploding over a million li before manifesting at another star palace.

"Come again!"

Sun Wukong fought spiritedly, his staff stirring the winds and clouds, causing oceans to churn and mountains to crumble.

The man was equally formidable; with his Supreme Divine Power, the sword's momentum was overwhelming. Each strike rolled clouds and tossed waves, the sky as if wailing intensely, thundering loudly.

Every time they passed a star palace, the heavens shook and the earth quaked, flames lingering for a long time.

This was a contention of the Heavenly Dao, with countless strange and wondrous sights rising around them, as if the circulation of the sun, moon, and stars, the cycle of plant and animal life.

"Who on earth is he?"

The more Sun Wukong fought, the stronger he became, and the more curious his heart grew.

This man did not seem like a subordinate of the White Robed Venerate, with broad divine skills, having countless Tao fruits.

Their battle was no longer merely a competition of physical prowess and spells, but also a contention of the Heavenly Dao. Each collision was an impact between two different taos.

This was a war between taos.

The flames produced by this war annihilated anyone who touched them.

The countless Buddhas in the sky feared to even be near them, watching as the battle fire flew into another star palace.

In this star palace, the man in white suddenly disappeared.

Sun Wukong looked around, the land was undulating with majestic mountains, and in the sky hung grand palaces; here the spiritual energy was rich, a precious land blessed by nature and humanity.

However, it was the same as the other star palaces – void of any living creatures.

"Where has he hidden?"

Sun Wukong searched around, landing in front of a palace in the clouds.

The palace majestic, with 'Emperor Yao Palace' inscribed in large characters above its gate.

Upon seeing the words 'Emperor Yao,' something seemed to surface in Sun Wukong's mind, as though he recalled something.

But before he could grasp it, an attack interrupted him.

The Heavenly Sword came with an overwhelming firelight.

The man in white appeared once more.

He was supremely elegant, the momentum of his sword uncompromising.

"Good timing."

Sun Wukong laughed heartily, the Jingu Bang enveloped in flames, meeting the sword in attack.

The Heavenly Sword and the Jingu Bang collided, clanging sonorously, the aura of Heavenly Dao rippling outward.

The grand palace, upon encountering the aura, quickly collapsed, scattered, turning into a mound of sand.

A flash of annoyance passed through the man's eyes.

Sun Wukong caught that flash of annoyance, repelled him with a swing, and asked, "Are you Emperor Yao?"

"Sun Wukong."

The man's Heavenly Sword slashed down: "For a million years, you have been the opponent I most wished to suppress."

"Unfortunately, you can't do it!"

Sun Wukong, holding his staff, ascended.

The two engaged in battle once again, erupting in fierce flames, Tao contending, the roaring terrifying!

In this battle, Sun Wukong did not leave the star palace. Thousands upon thousands of mountains collapsed within the flames, rivers dried up, the heavens and earth cried in agony, filled with sorrow.

The man's eyes burgeoned with growing irritation.

"Why do you persist in this place?"

He finally couldn't bear it and bellowed loudly.

"So, you truly are Emperor Yao."

Sun Wukong saw the man cease and couldn't help but laugh: "You're quite straightforward. If you weren't from the Heavenly Court, perhaps we could have become Daoist friends."

"Ridiculous!"

The man's voice sparkled with fury: "I've seen many Heavenly Emperors like you, ignorant and lacking in reverence. Countless mortals have been dragged into their schemes, turned to dust, and faded away."

His eyes flashed with a chill: "This time, I am determined to suppress you."

Sun Wukong furrowed his brow: "So, you think a lifeless Pure Land is truly best?"

"What's wrong with Jile?"

The man replied: "Life is born only to perish. The White Robed Venerate broke free from this Imprisonment, transforming mortals into undying beings. Can you achieve that?"

Sun Wukong shook his head.

He genuinely could not.

He felt a bit of regret: "It seems, then, that we do not walk the same path."

"You've got that right, and this battle should come to an end."

The man drew the Heavenly Sword across his palm, calling forth Essence Blood.

Behind him, a Blood Sword materialized.

The sword was incredibly red, shimmering with various Taos, thunder and lightning flickering, the sky itself splitting open.

"When the Emperor decrees your death, you can do naught but die!"

The man raised his hand, and in this moment, his aura transformed, radiating an intangible majesty.

Sun Wukong seemed to see a Divine Crown flickering in and out of visibility on the man's head.

Before he could get a clear look, the Blood Sword burst with radiant light, slashing down.

This sword, as heavy as Tai Mountain and as quick as lightning, pierced through the sky in an instant, bearing down on Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong was shocked and about to counterattack when suddenly, he felt a chill down his spine as a gigantic hand surged from the ground, enveloping him within.

With a loud boom, the Blood Sword struck the massive hand, with three thousand Taos blasting at once, countless Dao Fruits being born and then extinguished within, an earth-shattering spectacle!

The man looked on coldly, for although the move was of limited range, it was his strongest killing move.

It could sever Dao Fruits, a single sword blow could devolve a Heavenly Emperor into a mortal.

Within the Chaos, the forces of the disciples of Buddha retreated, trembling with fear.

"Emperor Yao has succeeded!"

"That Sun Wukong, with his Dao Fruits destroyed, is surely doomed!"

The disciples of Buddha gazed towards the Star Palace, where on the earth, the blood light surged like a tide, lingering on and on.

After a long while, a figure emerged from the blood light.

It was Sun Wukong, who in that instant, donned the Locking Gold Armor, a brilliance piercing to any who beheld it.

The disciples of Buddha fell into silence, a chill running down their spines.

Sun Wukong's Dao Fruits had been destroyed, yet his aura grew even more vigorous.

"What sword is this?"

Sun Wukong raised his head to inquire of the man.

The power of this blow, though weakened by his decoy Dao Fruits, still surpassed even the Jade Emperor's Tribulation Sword.

"It has no name."

The man replied, his expression growing graver.

He had been arrogant, believing Sun Wukong would never escape this strike.

But now it seemed, to subdue Sun Wukong, he, too, must be prepared to suffer significant setbacks!

The man conjured Essence Blood once more, and one Blood Sword after another shimmered in the Chaos, forming a terrifying Killing Formation that targeted Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong gripped the Jingu Bang tightly.

"Truly, a mighty sword."

His fighting spirit soared, bursting with even greater battle intent.

The War God Seal sensed his will, emitting intense light.

A transparent flame burned on Sun Wukong's Golden Hoop, materializing into a 'sanctified' Immortal Talisman.

"The sword is fine, but..."

Sun Wukong raised the Jingu Bang, his eyes aglow with fiery light: "You're just a bit short!"

His battle intent blazed ferociously.
