Chaos roared, the sky trembled, two kinds of Tao clashed, creating a fiery sea resembling a painting.
White Robed Venerate looked up at the battle in the Chaos, his gaze fiery, unknowing of his thoughts.
He was at Fanjing Mountain, its peak shaped like an inverted bell, flowing Auspicious Light and fragrant mist, grand beyond compare, with layered pavilions and halls, surrounded by the light of Immortals.
"Venerable."
A phoenix's and sparrow's chorus sounded, and two Golden Arhats descended from the sky, bowing and saying, "The battle outside the heavens is too fierce; the disciples of Buddha can't get close."
"It doesn't matter."
White Robed Venerate answered, "Let them retreat for now."
"Why not let us go?"
Another voice arose.
White Robed Venerate turned his head, a lotus bloomed before him, revealing figures in Kasayas, Bodhisattvas, some with dignified aura, others with overwhelming Buddha Light.
"Emperor Yao is unparalleled and invincible in Divine Skills, the disciples of Buddha cannot approach, only we can help him!"
The Bodhisattvas said, "Let us go."
White Robed Venerate looked at these Bodhisattvas.
These Bodhisattvas, like Emperor Yao, were not from Brahma Void Heavenly Court, but were Great Divine Powers from all over the Chaos.
These were his strongest reliance, and the strongest combat power of the Heavenly Court.
White Robed Venerate shook his head: "Wait a bit longer."
Sun Wukong had not yet reached his limit; it was too dangerous for the Bodhisattvas to go now.
Losing a Bodhisattva arbitrarily would be a huge loss for him.
"Let Emperor Yao delay a bit longer."
White Robed Venerate said, "He might push Sun Wukong to his limit, perhaps without needing your intervention."
Laughter immediately emanated from his chest.
"Emperor Yao, when faced with us, would likely avoid us at all costs. Sun Wukong, although unliked, is brave and strategic, daring to confront us."
The laughter said, "Emperor Yao cannot defeat Sun Wukong."
White Robed Venerate remained unmoved: "Emperor Yao avoids you, only fearing that he would have to kill you."
"Does he still remember past enmities?"
The Buddha Beads lamented: "No wonder you have never been able to convert him."
White Robed Venerate silenced the Buddha Beads.
"Clamor."
His words caused subtle expressions on the nearby Bodhisattvas.
The Bodhisattvas had not interrupted until then, and finally spoke: "Venerable, there is something unusual near the Heavenly Court, it might be those Undying folks lurking."
"Let us go and assist Emperor Yao!"
They pleaded: "If those Undying folks intervene to aid Sun Wukong, it might cause further ripples."
The Undying folks were remnants of the Hongmeng World, elusive and opposing the Brahma Void Heavenly Court, establishing pharmacies, searching for treasure, and recruiting Great Divine Powers.
Sun Wukong had long been in their sights.
"Venerable, those Undying folks and Sun Wukong..."
The Bodhisattvas wanted to continue, but White Robed Venerate interrupted them.
"There are some Independent Immortals peering near the Heavenly Court; no need to worry."
He said: "The Undying and Sun Wukong are incompatible like fire and water; they won't help him."
The Bodhisattvas were shocked, knowing that Sun Wukong had long been in contact with the pharmacy, but White Robed Venerate continued so.
But the White Robed Venerate being all-knowing, must know the inside story to speak thusly.
The Bodhisattvas accepted this and retreated.
White Robed Venerate looked towards the Chaos; the grand battle between two Heavenly Emperors continued there, spanning endless Star Rivers, numerous disciples of Buddha being involved, transforming into rain of light and falling.
"He is ascending."
White Robed Venerate's gaze was compelling; Emperor Yao was pushing Sun Wukong to the extreme, ascending to a War God.
This battle, a clear and outright confrontation, inescapable, successive displays, only at the end might let Sun Wukong willingly concede and submit at his feet.
"Go to the Light Gate."
The White Robed Venerate did not forget to place a new piece on the chessboard.
Amidst the Chaos, a huge cloud of gold rose up, fluttering with banners, about to step through the Light Gate.
Witnessing this amid the fierce battle, Sun Wukong saw Jingu Bang emit a dazzling brilliance.
"Take my strike!"
With a swing of his staff, Immortal Light surged, and golden flames enveloped the heavens, charging towards those Buddha's disciples in the distance.
The flames spread across the Chaos like a vast ocean, rolling forward, vast and unstoppable, sparing no one.
In an instant, countless beams of light rained down from the sky.
However, Emperor Yao's Heavenly Sword blocked part of the flames; he suddenly appeared in front, slicing through the sea of fire with his sword, and led some Buddha's disciples into the void.
Sun Wukong's expression darkened.
"Why protect them?"
He asked coldly.
Emperor Yao was not from the Heavenly Court, and even if he was an enemy, Sun Wukong could understand.
But he could not accept Emperor Yao protecting those Buddha's disciples—knowing that their departure would bring war to another Star Palace.
"May I assume that you are not only my enemy?"
Sun Wukong asked coldly.
Emperor Yao slightly furrowed his brow, then nodded, "This is also for the good of your people."
Sun Wukong couldn't help but laugh.
A shocking battle intent rose from him, majestic divine presence, and one after another 'Holy' Immortal Talismans materialized on the Jingu Bang, quickly spreading across the entire staff.
"Something's amiss!"
Emperor Yao felt a chill in his heart and quickly raised the Heavenly Sword.
The next moment, Sun Wukong swung the Jingu Bang, chopping it vertically.
This strike, as long as ten thousand miles and heavy as Tai Mountain, seemed usual, but when it descended, Emperor Yao realized something was wrong.
A vast and terrifying battle intent overwhelmed him, causing his whole body's hairs to stand on end; the Heavenly Sword roared, shaking violently, as if it were wailing, about to shatter.
"No good!"
Emperor Yao wanted to dodge but didn't expect the terrifying battle intent to form a powerful domain, twisting space, and making it feel as though his feet had taken root.
"Boom, boom, boom"
The Jingu Bang struck Emperor Yao, emitting a terrifying sound, and various lights were extinguished in the Chaos.
This blow was tremendously earth-shaking, shocking even the White Robed Venerate.
But he immediately calmed down.
After Jingu Bang, in the twisted Chaos, a figure appeared, that was an unscathed Emperor Yao, appearing like a blood-drenched War God, his blood-red glow terrifying.
"What kind of move is this?"
Sun Wukong asked.
Emperor Yao remained unharmed, his white robes surrounded by blood light, resembling a blood-colored battle armor, blocking his strike.
The blood light was strange, like a curse, yet like a blessing, emitting a chilling aura, seemingly more terrifying than any Heavenly Dao Emperor Yao had ever cast.
Sun Wukong used his Eyes of Golden Flame to look, but could not discern what it was.
Emperor Yao gazed at the blood light on his body, his heart stirring.
He remembered these lights.
These were not his spells, but the marks left by the countless citizens of his shattered world, forgotten in the tides of time.
Emperor Yao hadn't expected, after a million years, they still protected him.
But what of it?
His people were already dead.
Emperor Yao raised the Heavenly Sword, his eyes devoid of light: "These no longer matter."
He had nothing left except this sword.
The endless Heavenly Dao once created a world.
Now, they resonate only for the sword.
