The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 153: How are You Still Not Dead Yet?

Ten days later, a group of people flew out of the Light Gate of the Three Realms.

Before their eyes lay an endless world, with majestic mountains, towering ancient trees, and dense mists, all radiating divinity and peace.

For those seeing the Three Realms for the first time, such a beautiful world was a rare treasure amidst the vast Chaos.

"Do not wander off, follow behind me."

Daji said to the Buddhists: "I will take you to the Virtue Palace to find the Heavenly Empress."

The Buddhists nodded promptly and followed Daji, passing through the scrutiny of numerous Heavenly Soldiers, and arrived at the Virtue Palace.

The Virtue Palace, enveloped by the Merit Fire, was magnificent and awe-inspiring.

At the center of the Virtue Palace stood the towering Wanling Tree, dazzling and majestic.

The Buddhists stood under the tree and handed an Immortal Mirror to Ao Luan.

Ao Luan took the Immortal Mirror, and with the aid of the numerous Buddhists, activated it, revealing a map of the Star Palace.

On the Star Palace Map, hundreds of Star Palaces glittered like marbles scattered in the Chaos.

"This displays the appearance of the Brahma Void Heavenly Court."

The Buddhists said.

"Is this the Heavenly Court?"

Lord Lao Zi stood beside Ao Luan, curiously examining the Immortal Mirror.

Each marble here represented an independent world.

Sun Wukong had left less than a month ago and had already gathered so many worlds under his control.

"He never ceases to cause ripples wherever he goes."

Lord Lao Zi expressed with deep emotion.

Ao Luan looked for a long time before raising her head to ask, "How many inhabitants are there in the Heavenly Court?"

"I know this."

Daji volunteered to answer: "The Brahma Void Heavenly Court has undergone a tremendous calamity, no Star Palace there surpasses the population of the Three Realms, but the total population is more than forty times that of the Three Realms."

This was what Sun Wukong had told her before she returned.

Ao Luan fell silent upon hearing this.

She understood why Sun Wukong had the Buddhists bring the Immortal Mirror back—the vast Heavenly Court would be difficult to manage without the help of the Three Realms.

"Heavenly Empress."

Lord Lao Zi said to Ao Luan: "The Brahma Void Heavenly Court, plus the Star Palaces previously conquered by the Heavenly Emperor, in aggregate, we might also be short of hands."

"This can be resolved over a few years."

Ao Luan responded: "The major problem is, the distances between these Star Palaces are too vast."

Just within the Brahma Void Heavenly Court, traveling from one Star Palace to another could take months, how could they manage such a long route effectively?

"Daji."

Ao Luan addressed Daji: "Did elder brother mention anything else?"

"He did."

Daji nodded, Sun Wukong had anticipated the issues that worried Ao Luan.

"The Brahma Void Heavenly Court possesses the Spell of Shattering Void, these Buddhists know it, and the Great King has sent them here to teach it."

Daji indicated the Buddhists standing beside her.

The Shattering Void, a crucial spell for traversing through the Chaos.

Ao Luan breathed a sigh of relief and arranged for the Buddhists.

"Ao Luan, there is one more thing I need to ask of you."

Daji leaned close to Ao Luan's ear and whispered a few words.

"I understand."

Ao Luan nodded, turning her gaze towards the door.

Standing there was a man, watching coldly—Emperor Yao.

Ao Luan, accompanied by Daji, approached Emperor Yao.

"You are Emperor Yao, right?"

She said: "Elder brother has asked me to show you something, come with me."

After speaking, Ao Luan, along with Daji, left the Virtue Palace and flew towards the South Heavenly Gate.

Emperor Yao followed them, albeit reluctantly, he did not refuse.

After the White Robed Venerate's death, Emperor Yao remained in the Brahma Void Heavenly Court, becoming an unstable bomb.

At this moment, Sun Wukong wanted him to see something; Emperor Yao was indeed curious about what trick Sun Wukong was playing.

He followed Ao Luan and Daji out of the Heaven Palace and flew towards the Southern Continent.

The Southern Continent, with its grand and spectacular cities stretching endlessly, had thirteen Floating Cities suspended in the sky, all built after the great calamity.

Ao Luan led Emperor Yao to one of the heavily guarded Floating Cities.

"What spell is this?"

Upon arriving at this Floating City, Emperor Yao was utterly astonished.

In this Floating City, apart from the normal living beings of the Three Realms, there are also some translucent phantoms walking the streets.

These phantoms clearly aren't beings from the Three Realms, but projections from another realm.

"This city was personally constructed by Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, existing simultaneously in two worlds."

Ao Luan said to Emperor Yao: "We and the beings of that world can communicate through this city, although we cannot make direct contact, exchanging knowledge is enough."

She led Emperor Yao to the palace in the center of the city.

Deep in the palace, there was an Immortal Spring, reflecting a tremendous Heavenly Pillar.

That was the Heavenly Palace from another world; the Heavenly Pillar towering majestically, supporting both the heavens and the earth.

Such a scene is also rare even in Chaos.

"That Heavenly Pillar was built by my brother."

Ao Luan said, every time she saw the Heavenly Pillar, she would admire the resilience of the beings from that world.

"Help me contact Fang Mountain."

Ao Luan instructed an Immortal beside the Immortal Spring.

The Immortals cast Immortal Law and soon after, the waters of the Immortal Spring rippled and a man appeared.

"Ao Luan Fairy, it's been a long time."

The man said.

"Fang Mountain."

Ao Luan said: "Help me find Nu Ying."

Nu Ying?

Upon hearing these two names, Emperor Yao was momentarily stunned.

It's impossible! I must have heard it wrong.

"You want me to meet Nu Ying?"

Emperor Yao asked Ao Luan.

"Of course."

Ao Luan nodded: "My brother said you know them."

"Absurd!"

Emperor Yao, furious, thought that Sun Wukong was attempting to deceive him with such tricks!

"I don't have time to waste here."

Emperor Yao turned to leave: "I'm going to find Sun Wukong and clarify things."

"Won't you wait a bit longer?"

Ao Luan didn't turn back, saying faintly: "My brother never does things he's unsure of."

Emperor Yao halted in his steps, then snorted coldly.

"Fine, let's see what kind of trick he's playing."

Emperor Yao looked toward the Immortal Spring.

Soon after, noises came from the spring.

"My foolish sister."

A voice said: "This contest was interrupted by Fang Mountain, yet I still won."

"Sister, don't forget, you've lost to me once in total."

Another voice retorted sarcastically.

"They're here."

Ao Luan informed Emperor Yao.

Emperor Yao slightly frowned, then saw the faces of two women appear in the Immortal Spring.

At the sight of those two faces, it was as though Emperor Yao was struck hard, taking a step back.

"No, it's impossible..."

His heart trembled, unbelieving of his own eyes.

Those were two unfamiliar faces, yet he could see in them something he was familiar with.

Their eyes, noses, even their eyebrows... all resembled those two children.

Such traces threw Emperor Yao into inner turmoil, at a loss.

No, it's impossible… It must be a lie!

Emperor Yao desperately convinced himself.

The two women, seeing Emperor Yao, also froze.

"Fa-... Father..."

Their voices started to stammer.

Having seen their father again after millions of years, both felt as if they were seeing a ghost.

"How are you not dead yet?"

They both inquired.
