The Supreme Beauty Fell in Love with Me

Chapter 338: Tight Defense

Lin Chuan clenched his teeth, grabbed his firearm and charged out again. This time, he dashed into the forest in one breath.

"Not good, the kid has escaped into the big mountain," everyone immediately panicked.

"What should we do?" Old Si arrived panting and joined the group. He didn't expect his strategy to fail.

Eagle put his hands on his waist, looked at the vast forest, and clenched his teeth, "Chase after him for me."

"Boss, that kid is like a monkey in the jungle. It's probably useless for us to go in," the man in the teal blue clothes who escaped last night hurriedly said, "Why don't we just seal the mountain. As long as he doesn't come out, he will eventually die in there."

Eagle thought about it and felt it made some sense. He nodded, "Go, find Black Bear and get more people, seal off the Headless Mountain, no one is allowed up or down. Not even a fly should be allowed to escape."

"Yes!" Old Si nodded.

Sealing the mountain is always a big job, with people needed to guard over stretches of dozens of miles. Moreover, Lin Chuan was basically a monkey. Attempting to deal with Lin Chuan by sealing the mountain seemed somewhat unrealistic, but apart from this, there seemed to be no other way.

After entering the jungle, Lin Chuan first collected some plants that repel mosquitoes and ground them into a paste to apply on his body. This was to keep away the disturbance of mosquitoes and snakes. As for larger animals, he had to rely on his own strength.

In broad daylight, Lin Chuan chose to rest on a big tree and covered himself with an extremely large banana leaf. From the outside, Lin Chuan's figure was completely invisible.

He had almost stayed up all night the day before yesterday and last night. Lin Chuan needed to fully recharge his energy to have a chance to make a move against Eagle at night.

Eagle's people were busy sealing off the mountain.

Time passed, and the daytime flew by, especially in such mountains and forests, daytime felt a bit shorter. At half-past five in the afternoon, the sun set, at six o'clock, the sky darkened, and at half-past six, the night began to unfold.

At seven o'clock, it was pitch black in the mountains, so dark that one couldn't see their own hands. At the foot of the mountain, over a hundred soldiers were patrolling with high-powered flashlights on their heads and firearms in their hands.

The chirping of crickets woke Lin Chuan. He lifted the green banana leaf covering his body and leaped from the tree trunk.

Lin Chuan first carefully checked his firearm, a knockoff AK47. The workmanship was barely passable, but it was evident at a glance that it was produced by a small workshop. There were twenty-six bullets in the magazine. Lin Chuan had two more full magazines on him.

Grrrl...

Having not eaten for two days, Lin Chuan's stomach made a series of growling noises.

With the growl of his stomach, Lin Chuan immediately felt waves of hunger. Man is iron, food is steel, and without a meal, one starves. Jumping down from the tree, Lin Chuan foraged for some wild fruits to alleviate his hunger. Although it couldn't satisfy the need to eat to his fill, it could at least help replenish some energy.

As night fell, around eight-thirty, Lin Chuan began to descend from the mountain.

Within the forest, enveloped in darkness where one couldn't see their own hand, Lin Chuan's eyes naturally adjusted to low light, allowing him to see faint glimmers, which was enough for him to make his way down the mountain.

At the foot of the mountain, several bonfires were burning brightly.

A few soldiers were grilling a wild boar over the fire, and the smell of roasting meat was tantalizing and irresistible.

As Lin Chuan descended the mountain, he was quickly attracted by the aroma.

"Damn, is this a feast prepared for me?" Lin Chuan couldn't help feeling excited.

Watching the pork about to be cooked, Lin Chuan prepared to make his move.

Whoosh...

In the darkness, a shadow swooped down from the mountain, carefully crawling on the ground like a four-legged lizard, stealthily approaching the three soldiers grilling meat by the fire. Lin Chuan's mouth held a sharp dagger.

As he was about to approach them, Lin Chuan leaped forward.

Crack...

Lin Chuan snapped the neck of a soldier. The other two were shocked and were about to resist when a flash of white light passed by.

Thud...

Under the firelight, a splash of dark blood rose, and one person slowly collapsed. The last person was directly stabbed through the throat by Lin Chuan's dagger. He wanted to scream, but his mouth moved a few times, and a lot of fresh blood sprayed out. The person fell thunderously.

"Smells so good!" Lin Chuan sniffed deeply.

He quickly pulled the dagger from one person's throat and wiped the blood from the dagger on the clothes of the deceased.

Sizzle...

Lin Chuan grabbed the dagger and cut off the fattest hind leg from the wild boar, breaking the bone with force. He bit into the pork leg meat, which was delicious and fragrant. Being as hungry as Lin Chuan was, anything he ate would probably taste scrumptious.

It had just come off the fire and was a bit hot, but Lin Chuan paid no attention to that.

"Damn, are you seriously hogging all the food?" The man in teal clothes turned back to see a dark figure beside the fire frantically gnawing away.

Lin Chuan paused for a moment before he immediately waved towards the man in dark cyan clothing.

Seeing this, the man hurriedly scampered over. However, after running for a bit, he suddenly got a bad premonition. Under the light of the fire, the figure's silhouette seemed all too familiar to him. He paused momentarily and didn't rush over immediately. Upon closer inspection, he realized that three more people were lying around nearby.

"Something's not right!" The man panicked at once.

At this moment, Lin Chuan's lips curled up into a sinister smile, noticing the hesitation in the other party. Lin Chuan's dagger, used for slicing meat, was firmly gripped in his hand.

Gurgle...

The man in the dark cyan clothes could clearly sense the murderous intent emanating from Lin Chuan. He swallowed his saliva, struggling briefly, which for him was a form of torture and even more so, agony. His current situation was clearly a dilemma of being caught between a rock and a hard place.

He wanted to call for help, but he knew that as soon as he made the slightest sound, the other party would immediately take his life.

"Haha..." The man in the dark cyan clothes burst out laughing and said, "Kid, sneaking food all alone, aren't you afraid of dying?"

While speaking, his hand was already stealthily reaching towards his waist.

After a few steps, he instantly drew his gun to shoot.

Whoosh...

The speed of drawing the gun and firing was clearly no match for the instant Lin Chuan swung his knife.

Thud...

The dagger pierced into the eyebrow of the man in the dark cyan clothes, penetrating three inches deep. Blood slowly trickled from the brow, flowing down the bridge of his nose to the corner of his mouth and then drip by drip from his chin.

"How... how is this possible!" The man's eyes widened in disbelief.

The man collapsed with a thud, dead with eyes wide open. Lin Chuan walked over at a leisurely pace, pulled the knife out from the man's body, and wiped the blood off the knife using the man's clothes. Lin Chuan then sat down and continued slicing meat with the dagger to eat.

After eating his fill, Lin Chuan stood up, patted the dust off his bottom, slung a firearm over his back, and slowly made his way towards Headless Town.

At the foot of Headless Mountain, within that manor.

Eagle was lying on the bed asleep with a delicate woman by his side. The two were cuddled up together; having failed to encircle and suppress Lin Chuan during the day, Eagle was venting his frustration, and therefore he found a girl to release his anger. As a result, he had slept soundly until now without waking.

At the entrance of the manor, there were several watchtowers with armed soldiers on guard. The entrance was also patrolled by many more soldiers searching the area.

Lin Chuan was lurking in a patch of woods not far from the manor, staring at the brightly lit estate from a distance. He was also voraciously gnawing on a piece of sugarcane in his hand.

"This damned place is guarded so tightly?" Lin Chuan frowned.

To kill Eagle, he had to first get into this manor; otherwise, it was all empty talk. However, with the manor being so tightly guarded, how to get in was a major problem. Lin Chuan circled around the manor and eventually found that this place was not entirely impenetrable.

Behind the manor lied a natural lake, from which all the drinking water for the manor was drawn, separate from the water source of Headless Town. The water from Headless Town was easy to poison, but the water from this lake could not be tampered with. No one could possibly contaminate the entire lake.

This lake fed a river that entered the manor and wound its way through, passing several swimming pools and a few irrigation points.

Splash...

Lin Chuan dove into the lake water; while it was bitingly cold, for the sake of killing Eagle, he was prepared to go to any lengths.

For the sake of stealth, he bit on a straw, remaining hidden under the water's surface as he infiltrated along the river. After swimming for over ten minutes, Lin Chuan finally managed to stealthily enter the manor's river system. To his dismay, there was a wire mesh under the river, making it impossible to pass through.

"Damn it!" Lin Chuan cursed under his breath.

With no other choice, he had to abandon his original plan. He climbed along the wire mesh upwards; there were patrolling soldiers on both sides of the river, vigilant and on guard. Little did they realize someone was moving beneath the water.

Not long after, Lin Chuan surfaced from under the water, quickly climbed over the wire mesh, and swiftly dove back into the water.

"Huh..." A soldier looked puzzled at the suddenly disturbed water surface.

"Ah Jin, come here for a second." From a distance, another soldier called out.

The soldier who noticed something amiss turned and ran over, unwittingly squandering the only chance they had to discover and surround Lin Chuan. Lin Chuan continued moving towards the interior of the manor along the river, slowly advancing.

It didn't take long before Lin Chuan disappeared into the river.

..................

Inside the room, Eagle turned over.

The naked woman beside him pouted and complained, opening her eyes and scolding, "You deadbeat, no energy left? Didn't you say 'don't go, fight till dawn'? The night is still young, yet here you are, sleeping like a dead pig."
