Chapter 966: Misinformation

In the dark night sky, tiny silver lights continuously plummeted from above, accompanied by a faint whistling sound. The sound of a single silver light falling was indeed small, but when numerous silver lights fell simultaneously and continuously, the resulting noise was anything but subtle. The piercing noise incessantly emanated from the sky, interspersed with the intermittent screams of the Fire Pattern Superpower Users. Accompanying the screams was the hot, crimson blood, which stained the grass and painted the eyes of everyone present in red. Everywhere one looked was a sea of red, so intense it was terrifying.

Suspended in mid-air, Shu and El heard the sharp whistling and the agonizing screams, their gaze slightly shifting at the horrific sight in the manor below, causing their bodies to involuntarily shudder. They were not unacquainted with death, but there are scenes more horrendous than mere death, such as the current situation in the Fire Pattern Guild's manor. Although both were startled by the scene in the manor, they knew that without Zhu Bufan's extreme measures, the three of them wouldn't be able to leave that place alive, let alone gather any information about Long Feiyun. They were equally puzzled by Long Feiyun's importance to Zhu Bufan, as they had only known him for a few days, yet Zhu Bufan valued him so greatly, which left both Shu and El quite confused. However, confusion aside, they were not the types to be bullied. Since they were already under attack, there was no need for courtesy.

While witnessing the horrifying scene in the manor, several thoughts crossed the minds of Shu and El, and afterwards, their expressions returned to normal. After a brief rest, El regained his strength, broke free from Shu's support, and hovered in mid-air on his own. El's gaze shifted from the manor to Zhu Bufan, who still held Grant motionless, seemingly with no intention of further action.

Zhu Bufan still stared expressionlessly at the situation in the manor, his left hand pressed against Grant's face, while restraining his limbs to prevent any movement. The silver-light-covered eyes showed no emotion, as if Zhu Bufan were looking at a dead person, as he gazed at the superpower users devastated by the silver lights. When the final silver light plummeted from the sky and pierced a Fire Pattern Superpower User's arm, Zhu Bufan's right hand trembled slightly before he pointed his right index finger at Grant's forehead, his gaze meeting Grant's.

"Are you still unwilling to talk?" Zhu Bufan's voice turned as cold as midwinter frost, while a faint glimmer of silver light began to flicker at his right index fingertip.

Grant couldn't respond, nor was he able to. His mouth and nose were covered by Zhu Bufan, rendering him unable to make a sound, while his eyes were filled with rage.

Sighing softly, Zhu Bufan said, "I didn't want to do this. But since you refuse to speak, you leave me no choice." With that, Zhu Bufan gently touched Grant's forehead with the fingertip flickering with faint silver light.

As soon as Zhu Bufan's fingertip touched Grant's forehead, the weak silver light at the tip surged like a small snake into Grant's skin and then disappeared without a trace.

When the silver light entered his forehead, Grant's body, though restrained by Zhu Bufan, suddenly convulsed violently, and his eyes, full of anger, revealed an extremely terrified expression. However, this expression didn't last long, as his gaze soon dimmed and became lifeless. Watching Grant's gaze weaken like a dimming flame, Zhu Bufan released the grip of his left hand on Grant, silver light swirling in his eyes as he looked into Grant's vacant eyes.

The disappearance of the silver light didn't last long, around five minutes or so, before it re-emerged from Grant's forehead and quickly returned to Zhu Bufan's right index finger. As the silver light entered Zhu Bufan's skin, his mind was flooded with countless images. However, he didn't dwell on these images; instead, he stood up, tossed the now unconscious Grant beside the Fire Pattern Superpower Users, and slowly ascended into the air. He gestured to Shu and El before flying in a certain direction.

As Zhu Bufan escorted Shu and El, he began to analyze the memories acquired from Grant. Grant did indeed visit Zhu Bufan's residence with people, but he did not attack Long Feiyun or abduct him. Grant went there merely to discuss a transaction with Zhu Bufan, but since Zhu Bufan wasn't present, he only left a message for Long Feiyun to pass along.

Zhu Bufan had no reason to doubt this truth because it was a genuine memory from Grant's mind, with no possibility of deception. However, both Long Yan and Feng Yan claimed that on the day of Long Feiyun's disappearance, only Grant's group had passed by Zhu Bufan's residence. So, where had Long Feiyun gone?

As Zhu Bufan pondered this, his communication device vibrated in his pocket once more. It was Long Yan calling. Zhu Bufan felt a slight stir in his heart as if realizing something, though he was not certain. Nonetheless, he didn't hesitate and immediately accepted Long Yan's call.

"Zhu Bufan, the information was wrong. Long Feiyun wasn't taken by the Fire Pattern people." As soon as the call connected, Long Yan immediately informed, not giving Zhu Bufan a chance to speak.

"I know." Zhu Bufan's voice was calm, showing no obvious emotional fluctuation. Long Yan's call timing seemed too coincidental; just after Zhu Bufan dealt with the Fire Pattern people and discovered the news, Long Yan contacted him and immediately stated that Long Feiyun wasn't in the Fire Pattern Guild. This led Zhu Bufan to suspect that Long Yan might be using him to deal with the Fire Pattern people. Zhu Bufan didn't want to think this way, since Long Yan and Long Feiyun had a profound relationship.

"You know?" Long Yan was somewhat surprised; even with his position as a member of Long Zhu, it had taken time to uncover this information. How could Zhu Bufan have learned it before him?

After a brief silence, Long Yan continued, "Do you know who took Long Feiyun?"

"Not yet." Zhu Bufan's responses were exceptionally brief, yet his tone remained unchanged, still calm, devoid of even a hint of impatience.

However, Long Yan knew well that once he decided to contact Zhu Bufan, any conversation would erode Zhu Bufan's trust in him. Zhu Bufan's cold demeanor only confirmed his thoughts further. But Long Yan didn't plan to explain anything, as Zhu Bufan would likely not heed his explanations. Ending the conversation with a few casual remarks, Long Yan severed the line.

After hanging up, Long Yan massaged his temples with slight frustration. It was indeed a troublesome matter, one that might not have escalated into the current situation had it been handled more carefully from the start. Glancing at the pitch-dark night sky, Long Yan took a deep breath and muttered, "It seems the work of a master. I want to see who could have fooled Long Zhu and stolen someone away so silently." With that, Long Yan's figure vanished mysteriously, leaving no trace.
