In the pitch blackness, newly awakened, Yi Yun had no idea where he was. He just felt utterly powerless all over, even the uncontrollable power he usually had lay quietly within him, showing no sign of activity. Feeling this powerlessness, Yi Yun was filled with terror. Regardless of whether he was a Superpower User, he was, after all, just a child and had never encountered such a situation. To say he wasn't scared was completely impossible. He wanted to scream, but when he opened his mouth, only hoarse, strange sounds came out, and he couldn't utter a single word. This left Yi Yun thoroughly panicked; unable to move or make a sound, and being in such a pitch-dark and unknown place, Yi Yun wondered if he was already dead. Although he didn't know what death would be like, the current situation didn't seem significantly different from death.
Just as Yi Yun's heart was in chaos, he suddenly felt the place where he was shake slightly, then return to stability. This shaking caused Yi Yun's head to hit a hard surface, making a dull thudding sound. Yi Yun felt a sharp pain in his head, followed by dizziness. However, this blow also clearly indicated to Yi Yun that he wasn't dead because he remembered his dad saying that the dead don't feel anything, and since he felt something, it meant he was still alive.
While Yi Yun was internally rejoicing that he wasn't dead, he suddenly realized his current situation—unable to move or talk—wasn't much different from being dead. The excitement that once sparkled in his eyes dimmed instantly, and he let out a long sigh, feeling utterly deflated. He didn't even know why he was here; the only thing he remembered was someone coming to find Zhu Bufan, after which his memory went blank.
What on earth happened?
The dispirited Yi Yun suddenly became engrossed in trying to recall what had happened. His mind was blank, as though his memories had been erased.
But no matter how hard Yi Yun tried to remember, he couldn't figure out why he was in such a dark place.
What should I do?
Since he couldn't recall what happened, he thought of leaving this strange place first. With that in mind, Yi Yun began to try moving his body without hesitation. However, no matter how much he tried, he couldn't control his body; it was as if this body wasn't his. The only thing somewhat responsive was the energy inside him, which, though usually in a violent state, was now slightly agitated despite being suppressed.
As the Thunder Attribute Energy stirred within him, Yi Yun felt a faint current emanate from his abdomen, making his body tremble involuntarily for a moment before calming down again. This unintentional tremor excited Yi Yun greatly. Because when the energy surged through his body, Yi Yun realized he could control his body, albeit only for a fleeting moment, but this gave him hope of regaining control over his own body.
Unfortunately, things often don't go as smoothly as imagined. When Yi Yun concentrated and attempted to mobilize the suppressed power within him, he found himself unable to touch the energy inside, let alone control it. This left Yi Yun dumbfounded. Clearly, he had felt the energy present just a moment ago, but now he couldn't touch it at all. It was as though he was viewing something through glass, seeing it clearly yet unable to touch it. However, the barrier between Yi Yun and the Thunder Attribute Energy was far more formidable than ordinary glass.
After trying several times and failing to touch the energy within him, Yi Yun's stubbornness flared. If he couldn't touch it and his power was being suppressed, he decided to let it be suppressed.
After all, Yi Yun was still a child. Once his stubbornness took hold, he didn't care about the consequences of his actions. Just like now, without any hesitation, he began to use some of the attack methods Zhu Bufan taught him despite not being able to mobilize his power. One must know that launching such attacks without energy support is impossible, and even if it somehow succeeded, it could easily lead to a backlash of energy. The attack methods taught by Zhu Bufan weren't simply based on utilizing internal energy but were meant to connect the energies within the world through one's internal energy, acting as a catalyst or a key to unleash an attack.
Now, while daring to force open the door without a key, the consequences Yi Yun could face are unimaginable. Zhu Bufan had warned Yi Yun, but once stubbornness took over, such warnings were long forgotten.
Unable to move his body, Yi Yun could only silently rotate the non-existent energy within his body according to the meridian sequence. The first round had no reaction, and the suppressed Thunder Attribute Energy remained quiet. Still no reaction on the second round, and the third, fourth... Yi Yun had lost count of how many times he simulated energy circulation, yet he felt nothing, not even a slight disturbance in the energy within him.
Damn it! Yi Yun cursed in his heart and kept biting his teeth, recklessly continuing to simulate energy circulation. Without any real energy, he was merely repeating futile actions along the empty meridians over and over.
Yi Yun began to feel dizzy; continuously focusing was extremely draining. As Yi Yun concentrated as much as he could on moving energy through his empty meridians, a slight distraction led him astray into another meridian. This tiny error caused the previously unresponsive Thunder Attribute Energy to flicker; a faint strand of energy separated and quickly traveled once along the meridians Yi Yun had simulated countless times before following his consciousness into the incorrect meridian. This led to the surrounding energies in his current location flowing continuously into Yi Yun's body.
The space here was of unknown size, but the energy contained was incredibly scarce, at least far from enough to activate an attack. The energy inside him was suppressed, unable to fill the large void. Immediately upon entering, this minimal external energy was drained completely, leaving Yi Yun with a strange, nauseating fatigue. Then, wave after wave of powerful drawing forces persistently demanded more energy from him. But with no ability to mobilize energy, Yi Yun had no energy to provide.
The energy that was drawn away started churning and surging, endlessly attacking Yi Yun's meridians, causing fine cracks to appear on them. Yi Yun groaned, a red stream of blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. Even as naïve as Yi Yun was, he now understood this was the energy backlash Zhu Bufan often warned him about.
Yi Yun had no idea how to handle this situation; he was thoroughly panicked. If his initial panic stemmed from being in a completely passive state, now it was due to the tangible threat of death. This was a real, looming death. He vividly remembered every word Zhu Bufan had said, but recalling them now was useless; it was too late for regrets. Yi Yun cursed himself, but it was to no avail.
The feeling of fatigue intensified, while the drawing force from the meridians grew stronger. Minor meridians already couldn't withstand the pressure and began to rupture. Tiny blood marks appeared on Yi Yun's skin, a result of capillaries bursting in response to the energy impact.
Continuous booming roars echoed in his ears, and Yi Yun could not discern if they were real sounds or mere hallucinations. All he wished for now was death to escape this inhuman agony, yet he couldn't move, let alone seek death.
The meridians within him continued to rupture and dissipate, yet the backlash energies remained relentless, persistently assaulting Yi Yun's bodily meridians, trying to claim more energy to fill the void. Each energy strike would snap parts of the meridians, sometimes erasing them entirely, before launching an even fiercer attack.
Strange sensations constantly transmitted to Yi Yun's mind from within his body—numbness, pain, tingling, all conceivable and inconceivable feelings appeared, with the most intense being that bizarre fatigue.
I'm probably about to die. After enduring repetitive agony, this thought emerged in Yi Yun's mind. Then, as if trying to escape this inhuman pain, he suddenly fainted, and regardless of how wildly the energy within him surged, he did not wake up.
