Female complications - day 31 the problem with secret rooms

I warn Iselin, Kari, Ciara and Alith where we will be as Jane has found the 'b-room'. So half an hour later - and with encouragement and suggestions from Kari while I was showering - I bring Jane down to the b-room via the library and show her where the lock for the bookcase is, and we go down and I light on the oil lamps. Jane turns out to have been creative in her clothing choices under the dress, and she is proud and makes a show of it. She is sexy and knows it. She has also brought her own little bag of 'accessories'. When I order her to line them up nicely with the others, I see that they have increased since the last time, so she has probably raided my attic again, which I will have to make her admit and 'punish' her for.

Game On.

As we lie recovering on the bed, Jane declares that her top five list is getting better and better. I have to admit it's a sure top ten, which makes Jane happier. To be honest I've actually stopped counting a long time ago, but this sure was up there somewhere and I know Jane wants both honesty and a goal and our sex to get better. Jane loves that we have a proper sex dungeon, and thankfully sees the humour in the fact that the dungeon is actually a few square meters larger than her bedroom. She also loves that our sex dungeon is an actual real stone walled cellar room lit by primitive oil lamps, because it gives her experience that little extra compared to just a normal bedroom. Then there is almost no ambient noise down here and just very quiet, especially when we put in the ventilation hole plugs. Just the sounds of us echoing against hard grey stone walls. However, Jane is right that we should hang more fabric to cut down on the echo and it would not be wrong with decorated pieces of fabric or similar on the ceiling and walls. Now it's just yellow thick woollen cloth to be dampening and not be too light absorbing. I should also replace one of the ventilation plugs with an electric fan, because it gets surprisingly hot if we're here for a long time and with several oil lamps lit. It would also be a good idea to update the door lock to the dungeon so it requires some sort of special key, and not just someone pushing in the right wooden peg, because that's pretty obvious to try on a suspicious wall. Maybe a narrow slot a flat special key has to be pushed into so and force locking plates to line up, and the wooden peg can then be pushed in? Would be a simple discrete solution and not that hard. I could actually make similar locks for the epic painting and the bookcase door so it takes a key to open them and not just curiosity and luck, and there could be a special key for the b-room door. Kari would probably like that. Jane definitely does. It should be possible to make a magnetic solution, where a strong magnet held in the right place unlocks, and the library already keeps a strong U magnet as part of the exclusive gadgets. In an emergency, it could be very important and advantageous to be able to open without a key.

We talk through the session, the good and the bad, and the limitations of how often we'll have a session, which Jane understandably completely agrees with. She wants it to feel special when we're using our dungeon, instead of routine. Jane giggles and smiles as she repeats, "Our sex dungeon!"

I tell her that these secret rooms originally had no purpose, and most still don't. If it is to be secret, it limits what the rooms can be used for, and it is not completely soundproof. If she screams, it will be heard faintly in the library, the dining room or the secret basement room under the mezzanine, but it will probably not be possible to determine where the scream comes from. The dungeon will of course stay as the sex dungeon, and a secret library under the second library is good for hiding away books or writings that are sensitive, or just where, for example, the sejdwoman who gave me the information wants to keep it secret. I can also store weapon blueprints and such there, probably in fireproof safes that gets an alarm. I've been thinking about giving the secret library and dungeon an extra protected metal roof and covered beams with a layer of thin tiles on top later this spring to be more fireproof, which should also dampen the sound a bit more. Jane loves everything.

I'd love to do a Man Cave under the mezzanine, with a home cinema, music system, pinball machine and other things, but I can't really do that here, although I'm hoping for a pinball machine and air hockey table in the future, which Jane thinks would be worthy projects, and we talk more about what the room might contain. Jane would really like to see a minibar, although there's not exactly a lot of different spirits and such here, although practically everyone brew their own stuff in the countryside. A sofa and a music system would be nice, but the only practical thing would be a speaker and MP3 player using Tom's mobile phone, but currently I don't want to sacrifice components on another amplifier. It might be a dartboard as the floor and most of the walls are stone. Jane makes more suggestions like maybe a skeeball machine, table football or something similar, but there is limited floor space for that. A minibar with some chairs and a sofa, and a dartboard will fit. And a disco ball. Jane challenges me to make true 'steampunk style' light effects, using oil lamps and powered by the central heating steam system, because electric light and electric motor would be too easy for me. It's a pretty interesting project, but I declare it silly for many reasons. Although it might be something steam punk themed. Jane is damn smug and enthusiastic while we discuss it some more.

Jane is right that we can have more space demanding stuff in other places like the attic, and a pool table would be fun, but I'm not sure about getting such large flat slate surfaces made and shipped here. Maybe it's possible to build in two or three pieces, and wood would probably work okay even if harder is better. Then, however, there is the problem of covering the surface in felt cloth, and making wadded springy triangle edges that are consistent in bouncing when there is no rubber, and making nice round balls that rolls exactly straight. In addition to wood for balls, bones or horns can certainly be used, but it will not be lightweight. What is the density of a pool ball? And what size? Pool tables also take up a lot of space all around, so although the basement space is 3.6 meters wide, there's more room in the attic.

For the newbies who need to be taught, Iselin is giving a lesson on how wind power works, is maintained and repaired, and they will get to build a wind turbine when the parts are picked up after the next shopping trip in Borgarsandr. Iselin is just proud and eager to try to educate others about it without me being there, which gives me time to do other things, which is to install the striptease pole.

I got the striptease pole and accessories up discreetly by hoisting it up via my balcony patio. It was the easiest way as the pole is long but not very heavy at about 8 kg. The striptease pole's ceiling bracket was no problem attaching to a wooden beam, although I did need to fetch one of the stepladders that Thrymheim has. So I'm in the process of installing the floor mount and attaching it firmly to the floor, and I've used a simple plumb bob to align the centre of the mount to the on in the ceiling. The floor has 'loose' but just pegged together floorboards, so it had to be a special solution, and it is quite easy to remove the pole and screw in a wooden plug in the hole in the floor. Threaded in, the wooden plug will not move even when you walk on it. Hopefully I can make a better plug with matched wood and grain surface so it is barely noticeable. It's built so it's easy to remove the pole as I don't want it in the way in my bedroom all the time, and I don't think it will end up being used all that much anyway once the newness goes away. In fact, in the future I should make another set of brackets, so the pole can be elsewhere. Jane will probably suggest in the secret room below the mezzanine.

Eventually, everything is done, and I can install the pole and lock it in place. With the locking bolt in place, the striptease pole is very stable and rotates as Jane wanted, and after a little oiling, it barely squeaks when I try it. There is a bit of regret that I did not get Olafr to make a rod twice as long so I could attach it to the ceiling and use it as a fireman's pole from up there. Unnecessary but would be fun. However, the fun would surely have passed quickly, and would also be worse placement, and the pole should probably be way thicker than a striptease pole.

I tell the bodyguards to temporarily ignore and reset any alarms from the basements, and I guide Jane down to the semi-secret room under the mezzanine. I show her the passageway leading to the barely used basement vault, and point out the hidden escape tunnels in there, and then we return to the semi-secret room.

Jane just laughs at her own stupidity as she stood there proudly knowing about the secret basement, completely unaware that there were hidden and secret passageways in either direction from this room. She has only been down here twice more since then, but the room was still just empty, deserted and uninteresting. She didn't even think about looking behind the simple tapestry, and the shelf hiding the vault corridor door is still empty. It's hard to not giggle as she walks over and lightly bangs her head on the tapestry, and it sounds wood and hollow behind it. Which makes her more frustrated.

"Hey! Mind your brain cells, you need every one you got."

My comment is not appreciated, although it does make her smile. She's glad there's something new down there, which is the loom I'll give to Kari. It's the best place to keep a big bulky thing secret from Kari, because she only really cares about two of the secret rooms, and that doesn't include this room or the vault. I haven't even proposed to Kari yet.

Is it even a decent idea to make a minibar here? I basically don't drink at all, and this room is supposed to be a secret, and not even all living here knowns about it. I think. Staff and guards are one thing, but guests should not know about this room. At least not until I hide the door behind the tapestry better. Instead of a tapestry we could do some sort of ball mechanism or similar artwork there to stop people from feeling it or knocking etc, but Jane is very willing to paint another epic painting so people don't touch that wall. Although then we really need to have epic paintings in several places so that it becomes common and doesn't mark one wall as special. Jane is willing to do a collage with several similar paintings down here. Perhaps different seasons, or just a larger motif spread out over different ones. She definitely is seriously thinking about it, but it would be more appropriate elsewhere where there is also more light.

"Robert, I absolutely love that you didn't just think to include all the wonderful comforts, security things like the windows and a really good vault for valuables in the large common cellar when you designed and had Thrymheim built, but also a secret vault and secret rooms! This place is just secret, upon secret, upon secret, upon secret! It's magnificent!"

"Well, I admit some of it was because secret doors and rooms are cool, and I got a bit carried away with my 'inception style secrets' plan."

"Yeah, this is sort of like that Inception movie, with layers upon layers. Glorious!"

"I can tell you that Thrymheim have secrets that only I know, and some just one other person knows. Iselin knows the most since she is now my wife and thus in charge of the house, and Alith comes second after her since she is the Guard Captain. But now you know a whole lot more than yesterday, and the large secrets, and what the hidden handles do."

"Yeah, you sure weren't kidding about those handles! Bloody hell, love! I never even suspected it was something like that! Consider this world we live in, I do feel safer with stuff like that, but I agree with the bodyguards and the rest of you, that come summer, Thrymheim should get a garden with thick tall stone walls, and there should be stone walls protecting the courtyard too. That should also get an alarm system and floodlights."

"Something like that will be built when warmer weather, available manpower and economy makes that possible, and I no longer have to prioritise the Academy or such. I really shouldn't have announced that the Academy will take students and start this spring. That was dumb. I could at least have said the autumn, but I didn't know what I was doing. And it was all a bit rushed to get Thrymheim built before the winter, and even though I love to have a nice road, that work could have been spent on the Academy or giving Thrymheim protective walls."

"It's nice to know even you make mistakes, at least when it's something not dangerous or unimportant." Jane gives me a hug and kiss, I happily return similar. "I want there to be something secret that only you and I know."

"You're welcome to come with suggestions."

"Until then, I'm going to paint more large paintings, partially because it is fun and I have gotten plenty of ideas, and the guest mansion could use one or two, but also so they act like camouflage for the dining room painting. Oh! Can we do a secret door to the workshop from my room?!"

"I'll gladly take the paintings, but that secret door is a bad idea. Beside very limited possible places due to the workshop stairs and battery location and steam pipes, that would be a weakness in the main buildings security. You know the door to the wing is a security door."

"Oh! Right! Sorry."

"No worries." I give her another kiss, and squeeze her bum with both hands, which rewards me with another kiss. "I've had plenty of time to think about stuff like that, but I'll try to figure something out."

"How about an under-the-floor crawl space thingy? Or a floor safe?"

"A shallow floor safe is possible, but the secret vault is mostly under your room, so the thick stone celling is close under the floorboards. There is basically just some insulation in between. If your room had been the next door guest room, something larger-deeper would have been possible toward the corridor side, since they filled in with some rubble there. The ground underneath was a slope. Although returning steam pipes might be in the way. Sorry."

"That my room can't have a large secret floor vault is hardly something to apologise for."

"A small floor safe is possible, but we have to make that first. Please continue to come with other suggestions or ideas. Two minds are better than one."

"Will do."

We walk up the stairs to the nook under the stairs, and I take the opportunity to quietly push her up against the wall for some make out before we go out. It feels so nice that Jane is immediately on board and eager. Jane's hand fingering the buttons of my fly tells me just how game she is, but I'm going to have to save myself for later today when I intend to show Jane the striptease pole, so I'm forced to give a poor excuse.

I let the guards know to react to the alarms again, and I head back up to my bedroom. I find Iselin has discovered the striptease pole, that it spins and she likes to get a bit of speed, hold on and spin round on it without being given any hints as to its purpose. I'm sure she'll try pole dancing given how she's already enjoying herself, and she wants to know what it's for, but I say I'll tell her later today or tomorrow, because I feel that Jane should be the first to really use the striptease pole, and I can easily remove it until then. I really should have done so, but didn't think about it.
