"Your Majesty, gentlemen!"
Lynch first gave a slight bow to the Emperor to show respect, then calmly glanced over the faces of the noble ministers. His voice was steady, without trembling, without fluctuations in strength, giving people a very reliable impression.
He pronounced the common language very accurately, without any Federation accent, very internationally precise.
"When facing a problem, I often try to solve the problems I need to solve in stages through methods like 'discovering the problem', 'seeking solutions', 'implementing specific steps', 'accumulating phased victories', and finally 'achieving the goal'."
"During this period, I have also been paying attention to the situation in the Amelia Region, and have found the core problem of the local situation spiraling out of control: Imperial soldiers cannot win, cannot outrun, and cannot find, which is the root of all this!"
The Emperor quickly glanced at the Minister of the Army and stroked his beard. His movements were not small, if someone was paying attention, they would surely notice his subtle actions.
The Minister of the Army also noticed and quickly reacted, coughing as if to stop Lynch from continuing.
Lynch looked at him and politely asked, "Sir, are you feeling unwell?"
The Minister of the Army shook his head, unsure if Lynch was truly oblivious or pretending, "My throat itches a little."
At this point, the dialogue between the two was still normal. If nothing unexpected happened, Lynch should show some concern for the Minister of the Army's health and then bypass the previously mentioned issues, continuing to the next topic, thus preserving each other's dignity and making it a minor episode.
However, Lynch did not do so, "You know, sir, if you cannot face your pain, cannot confront your mistakes, always avoiding these issues, these issues will persist forever and surround you."
"We all know this fact and know these issues will not disappear automatically because of your avoidance!"
"Now that we are aware of these issues, we should start resolving them instead of ignoring them."
"Am I correct?"
"Sir?!"
Rendered speechless by Lynch's few words, the Minister of the Army sat embarrassedly, glancing at the Emperor, he had done his best.
The Emperor first frowned, he did not like what Lynch was saying. It was the Empire's pain and his most annoying issue; he didn't even want to hear it mentioned.
The Gafura Army...may only bully militarily backward small countries, other than that, it seems useless.
The Navy's continuous victories covered up the Army's incompetence, so much so that over the years, Gafura people haven't considered changing the current state of the Army.
Of course, this is also related to the Navy being overly strong; the rise of the Age of Exploration made sea control very important, and Gafura's Navy could accomplish tasks the Army could not, so people wouldn't notice the Army's problems.
There's a saying, "Before a lame person walks, people only care about his hat," which very vividly describes Gafura's current situation. To change this, one must address the problem.
After a moment, the Emperor relaxed his brows and tapped the armrest of the throne with his finger. People's attention was immediately drawn to the sound, "Continue, Mister Lynch."
Lynch bowed again to show respect for the Emperor's "support" and continued, "Let's analyze the specific reasons: first, cannot win."
"Due to geographical reasons, Gafura people have no enemies requiring direct land combat, thus neglecting Army development, so much so...," he pouted, "...I don't even want to mention their performance in Amelia."
"Cannot outrun, these soldiers severely lack systematic military training. Combined with the previous point, I can understand, as the Army is more like a ceremonial guard than a combat-ready force."
"When advantaged, unable to chase the fleeing enemies, when faced with adversity, unable to outrun pursuing forces."
"And then there is 'cannot find'!"
"To date, I've noticed the Empire has not captured any heads of anti-government armed groups, nor effectively destroyed any anti-government armed organization…"
The atmosphere in the room immediately became oppressive; for two years, the situation in the Amelia Region was utterly chaotic. So far, not to mention dismantling certain organizations, even some notable figures haven't been caught.
The core issues driving current military chaos are precisely the three points Lynch highlighted.
Cannot win, cannot outrun, cannot find.
Even the strongest boxer cannot defeat an enemy he can never contact.
No one has ever presented such a simple and transparent way of clarifying problems, giving the Emperor some hope in the process. He straightaway asked, "How do you plan to solve these problems?"
"As Bail Federal and Gafura Empire are currently the most powerful countries globally and allies, they should engage in comprehensive cooperation across various fields to set an example for maintaining world peace."
"Of course, to avoid some trouble, please allow me to introduce the business of one of my subordinate companies…", Lynch looked at everyone here, when he smiled, even the previously embarrassed Minister of the Army reduced his aversion to Lynch.
"I have a company, called Darkstone Security, currently employing over three thousand seven hundred people. The business of this company, besides providing routine security services to individuals or enterprises, can also face countries and accept some international security orders."
Someone interjected, "Isn't this just a private armed organization?"
Lynch's words were interrupted, he turned his head towards the direction of the voice and glanced slightly, this time his gaze was somewhat different, those under his gaze felt a certain pressure.
Then he turned back to look at the Emperor of the Empire, "Darkstone Security is a legitimate enterprise registered, our business is permitted by Federation law, which is also the easiest solution I have found for you all."
"Hiring warfare!"
"Once we sign the agreement, you don't need to worry about your soldiers anymore; they can safely remain behind reliable fortifications, leaving the hardest, most dangerous combat work to me."
"I will have my subordinates, those trained with the most stringent, professional military training, complete all tasks."
"They can win, they can outrun, they can find, and Your Majesty, all you need to do is pay a paltry fee, lower than the Gafura soldier's pension, to achieve all of this."
"I also promise you and the gentlemen here that we are very fast!"
The just almost embarrassed Minister of the Army interjected, "How fast?"
Lynch turned to look at him, the two stared at each other for a moment, neither moving their gaze, confronting directly.
After about ten seconds, Lynch turned to the Emperor, "Give me a phone and twenty-four hours, I will prove how fast!"
The Emperor looked at Lynch for a few moments and then nodded.
Soon, a steward inside the Imperial Palace brought Lynch a phone, he lifted it in front of everyone and dialed a number.
The royal steward beside the Emperor squinted for a long time and then whispered in the Emperor's ear, "It's an Amelia Region number..."
"Ring..."
While on vacation, Major watched TV in boredom. He had been assigned to Amelia for a while now. He thought it would be a tough job, but surprisingly it wasn't so arduous.
They lived comfortably during this period, except for some boredom.
Major's joining Lynch's Darkstone Security was actually arranged by the Federation Army. Lynch's large intake of veterans had already been known to the Ministry of Defense and Army, but he has a unique feature—it did not conceal his intentions from others.
Regardless of inquiries from the Ministry of Defense or Mr. Truman, he plainly stated his purpose: to make money!
He wanted to use the retired soldiers' proficient military skills to earn money for himself; it sounded unpleasant, but his frankness made it less unacceptable.
Especially when Lynch confirmed his intention to intervene in the armed conflict in the Amelia Region, the Army decided to arrange some personnel to enter Lynch's Darkstone Security.
It's to monitor whether Lynch posed any threat to national security; it can also be said that after the Navy became Federation Heroes, the Army was unwilling to remain nameless.
The Navy proved their strength through a naval battle, so what about the Army?
The Army hadn't stopped their downsizing plans to date, on one hand, it was the Federation Government's appeasement for other countries, cutting down the Army was undoubtedly the best approach.
Without the Army, there was no invasion warfare, no matter how severe the situation, it merely resulted in their fleets bombarding inland seas for a while before leaving when they were done.
Having the Army makes it different, the Army can progressively occupy aggression zones until a country perishes.
The Army was inexplicably downsized and certainly was dissatisfied, but it was a national strategy issue, they couldn't resist, the only way is to prove to the Federation Government and the world that they aren't weaker than the Navy.
Only by doing so can the Army have more authority within the official system.
But the problem is, the current Federation could not start wars with some countries without reason, without wars how could the Army prove its excellence?
Coincidentally, Lynch and Darkstone Security's appearance gave the Army a chance to demonstrate their strength, under Mr. Truman's mediation, this cooperation, known to everyone but unspoken, began.
The Major and those around him were actually the elite of the Army, their task was to make the world recognize them!
