But Lynch could not remain at peace. A loud explosion echoed from outside the hall, the heavy tremor completely shattering the crystal windows. The mage staggered slightly, but the protection magic on him did not activate—the explosion did not seem to be some new spell attack method.
The crystal mural on the dome of the hall shattered into a rain of rubble, the sharp shards like daggers, some even capable of piercing the hard ground. However, no shards fell near Lynch, as if he was protected by an invisible shield, allowing him to safely walk through the chaos.
He flew over the obstacles on the ground, reaching the platform of the All-Knowing Tower as quickly as possible. The Flying Fortress remained stable in the air, yet the plants and trees upon it were all askew. It was as if a frenzied storm had suddenly swept across everything, turning what was once orderly into chaos.
Beyond the broken flowers and the bare twisted trees stripped of branches, the weather outside the tower caught Lynch's attention more. The sky was completely dark, thick clouds made the sun, moon, and stars unable to penetrate even a sliver of light. Only the tower itself emitted a milky glow, becoming the sole beacon in this suddenly arrived night. The fierce wind roared, pouring down massive hail from the sky.
The Elemental Protection of the All-Knowing Tower took effect, the ice could only make cracking sounds against the powerful wind barrier, posing no threat to the buildings and residents within. However, the weather's assault methods were not limited to these. Within the swirling clouds, red and blue light chains moved from distant to near, like long serpents with ripples swimming toward them.
Right beside the tower, these red and blue light chains converged, forming a black void region in Lynch's vision, where nothing existed, and everything seemed to be obliterated in the clash of the bi-colored lightning. Then, an inward explosion occurred, and with a thunderous boom, a wave of scorching heat blasted toward the Flying Fortress.
"Someone is attacking the Flying Tower! We cannot stay in this area for long!" Lynch estimated the size of the dark cloud area and immediately started to elevate the city's altitude. The storm, as if after two attempts had found a rival that excited it, gathered all its strength, preparing for a fiercer assault on the Flying City.
Lynch waved his magic wand, and words of magic language surged from his mouth. He utilized the oldest and most primal power, using the Great Arcanist's ability to bind Elementals to try and seize control of the storm.
The entire tower began to shake, as if a person convulsing uncontrollably during a seizure. However, this lasted only a short while. Once the mage adjusted the way of chanting the spell, his All-Knowing Tower could become another magic wand enhancing his spell's power.
The storm was caught between two forces, unable to advance or retreat. Its sound seemed to die down, but it had yet to dissipate. Lynch knew that the opponent was gathering energy to ensure a one hundred percent hit confidence.
Power continuously flowed from Lynch, circulating around the All-Knowing Tower, forming a solid shield. He was fully concentrated to complete this lengthy spell before the attack arrived. Yet, he still felt the ground of the Flying Fortress begin to tremble.
A crack appeared in the black clouds, a fiery red beam shot obliquely from it, blinding to the eyes. The process was entirely silent, as if some power suppressed the air there, preventing any sound from escaping.
The crack quickly turned into a vortex, and the gap between the black clouds grew larger. The fiery red beam turned purple, then pale yellow, and finally became a dazzling white light. Lynch lifted his head after finishing the last syllable of the protection spell, seeing a gigantic meteor rushing from the vortex.
"This is the real killer move!" Lynch immediately began to change the direction of the All-Knowing Tower, striving to avoid the meteor's trajectory. Thunder and storm, formidable as they were, the elemental protection of the All-Knowing Tower was equally strong. However, when facing a high-speed meteor, the power of the elements offered no help.
The flight of the tower abruptly halted in mid-air, everything not nailed to the floor flew out sideways. Countless statues and decorations, as well as all the bowls, shattered upon the hard ground. The rock spirits rolled about, falling from one end of the castle to the other. Even the reliably sturdy dwarves had to hold onto fixed objects around them to stabilize themselves.
