Mage Legend

Chapter 753: Legends and Legends in Legends Chapter Thirty-Eight Bishop

"So, there's a power influencing this venue?" Kuboert frowned, attempting to find the answer to the problem in Zilvra's eyes. "Is it good or bad? How can you prove it?"

"I don't need to prove it. It exists, not because I say it does, but because it just does." Zilvra glanced at the celebration attendees around, then refocused on Kuboert. "The rest is your own task. As for whether you believe me or not, finding this strange ability is entirely up to you. However, when you can't withstand the effects of the spell, you can get as close to me as possible. My followers will protect you in the meantime."

"This isn't like you, Zilvra." The Priest shook his head, speaking softly, "You've never cared about others' situations; you're just looking for fun."

"Yes, I can indeed find enjoyment in it." Zilvra didn't take Kuboert's words to heart but responded lightly, "Keeping you alive can make Lynch happy. I have a bit of sympathy for pets that bring joy—whether you believe it or not."

After she finished speaking, Zilvra turned away from Kuboert and walked toward the dining table on the other side of the banquet. The Black Dragon-turned-guard passed by Kuboert's side, closely following Zilvra. Its gaze swept over the Priest, exuding a momentarily regal aura of the Dragon Clan. Kuboert clenched his fist, gritting his teeth to restrain his trembling legs, barely avoiding collapsing onto the ground. This was the Black Dragon's response to the Light Priest's doubt in its own way: a creature as powerful as itself wouldn't stoop to creating fear with baseless rumors; its inherent power alone could easily achieve the same.

The Priest wiped the sweat from his palms on the ceremonial robe, kissed the Sun Sacred Emblem on his necklace, and prayed for strength from the god of light and justice. Then, he left in the opposite direction from where Zilvra departed, circling around and starting his search from outside the hall for anything unusual.

Traces of spiritual power are seldom found, and only those necromancers are skilled at finding clues. They often dissect corpses, able to detect creatures attacked by spiritual power; these individuals' brains are slightly different from normal. Aside from that, even the great mage of the prophecy school, Lynch's mentor Caso, couldn't determine the pattern of spiritual power. This ability, distinct from arcane and Divine Arts, is extremely rare in Anriel World, with only a few creatures exhibiting slight power. This significantly differs from other planar worlds.

Only those travelers who have journeyed through the Multi-Universe and knowledgeable creatures can perceive the effects of spiritual power, and Zilvra's giant dragon happens to be of this type. While helping his mistress pass through the detection array at the entrance, the Black Dragon already sensed the oddity of the hall. A faint but persistent spiritual power subtly altered the emotions of the attendees, making them excited and relaxed. This contradictory state would cause them to exaggerate the information received and easily believe it. The Black Dragon thought that something aimed to gradually control everyone's minds here and relayed this information to Zilvra.

The female Drow was just slightly surprised, but upon recalling the methods of the clerics she had seen in Ratris City, she easily associated this spiritual power with religion. Although this was somewhat different than what the Black Dragon intended to convey, it had achieved enough freedom to enjoy activities in human form, so the Black Dragon didn't fuss over unnecessary demands.

It was now nearing nightfall. Clouds obscured the last ray of daylight today, gradually tinting the entire city with a grayish hue. A dense mist rolled in from the sea, floating on the streets. Although most windows had lights on, there were hardly any people on the streets. Citizens were told they should remain indoors unless they were part of the celebration parade. However, Zilvra didn't really think normal citizens would be interested in attending the celebration. She could even see those faces hiding behind the windows, nervously scrutinizing every passerby, fearing they were Snake-men invading the city.
