Infernal Apocalypse [ LitRPG , Non-Human Lead, Lots and lots of Fire ]

241. Taking in the Vibe (Book Four)

At some point the boy passed out from his many injuries, and I didn't feel like sitting there waiting for him to wake up so he could answer my question. Thankfully one of the attendants in this place was able to take him from me and bring him back to wherever he came from.

I'll need to ask that princess what this was all about, but for now this is fine. I have bigger things to worry about.

"Gather the clan. It is time to bestow the Eternal Flame."

I didn't want to do this out in the open like that, so I moved everyone to one of those massive training rooms we had access to, and from there I asked Lidaz to do his best to ensure that prying eyes don't intrude on what is happening.

Of course, if someone stronger than him was present and decide to peer within, then I told him not to stress over that too much. It wasn't like what I was doing was a secret per se, and if someone wanted to push Lidaz's defenses aside to take a look then so be it, I would just try to find that person when it was time.

Anyway, there were quite a few people here, and it would likely take me weeks or months of nonstop bestowals to grant the Eternal Flame to all of them individually. If that's what it would take then that's what I would do, but I wanted to at least try and do it a different way.

I'd like to believe that physical touch isn't necessarily required, and instead all that mattered was having a conduit that the Eternal Flame could travel along to my target, and I think my Qi should be enough to handle that task.

After spending a few minutes explaining that, and that if it didn't work I'll have to pass it along to two people at a time, I took a seat in the center of the training room and closed my eyes.

Of course, spreading my Qi across the entire room wouldn't be a problem. The challenge started when I had to generate a couple thousand tendrils from the core of the flame itself to attach to each and every of them.

Hm.

This is not a pain free experience.

It quite literally felt if someone forcefully pulling on a few thousand strings that were lodged deep within my very soul. Obviously the only person pulling on anything was me, so I had no one to blame but myself as I continued with the process despite how painful it felt.

But eventually after more than just a few hours passed, I managed to create enough tendrils for everyone.

Then from there it probably took another couple hours just to actually bring them out of my body, then using my Qi as a road pretty much, I sent one each to everyone in the room with the exception of Lidaz.

Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.

I could already tell that I would not be able to bestow the Eternal Flame to him. It was more of a feeling than anything concrete. It was like something was telling me that making any changes to his soul is far out of reach of my ability.

But no matter. Lidaz will not be exempt from receiving the Eternal Flame.

For now…I pushed on and the process of bestowing the Eternal Flame began anew once more. Of course I couldn't see it, but I've long since learned about the phenomena that it creates, and I can only imagine just how eye catching it must be when I was doing it for so many all at once.

Though I didn't have the luxury of using too much imagination as the weight of it all weighed down on me.

I have no idea how much time passed by the time it was all over, and I didn't even get a chance to verify if it went well before I was once again trapped in the embrace of unconsciousness.

The next time I awoke, I made sure to promise myself that if all those bestowals worked, then it would be the last time I found myself unconscious like that for a while.

Once I left the fancy room I woke up to find myself in, Vrusha was of course waiting nearby and he relayed a few bits of news.

Firstly and most importantly, the bestowals were successful.

Secondly, I was told that word was sent that my presence was requested for a meeting regarding the fights ahead. There was no rush on when I would need to show up for this meeting, but I saw no reason to wait and made that intention known.

Before long I was being led through to the city just outside the estates we given to stay within.

The city had everything one would expect of a city, but it carried a bit of a medieval feel to it. It was weird, since they clearly had very advanced technology, like being able to traverse the void between universes for example, but I did not see a single car, and the roads did not really look wide enough for vehicles that I was familiar with… but there were carriages.

Not a single one was being drawn by horses though, but by some other animals I could not recognize.

There were plenty of markets and stalls, people going to and from, even children playing or being reprimanded by parents. It just looked normal, which was interesting in and of itself.

What a world raised within the wider Multiverse looked like. Where cultivation had been reigning supreme for more than just a few decades. Likely hundreds of thousands, or even millions of years.

Yet while the people here were entirely different, for the most part it was a fairly normal environment. Hm. There was plenty to do within the estates, but perhaps it would be worth it to walk around and… well, take in the vibe.

And unlike what would have happened if I walked around any of the cities on Earth with twenty plus dudes who did not look all the way human, dressed in pitch black robes, not a single soul here batted an eye at our appearance.

Sure, we got some looks, but it was not like an entire market stopped to look at us due to how out of place we were. We fit in here at least somewhat. Interesting.

But the exploration soon came to an end as we reached an elevator of sorts in the middle of the city, and since there was nothing above the building that I could see, I had a feeling I knew which direction it would go.

The elevator was not anything crazy, and honestly it was a little underwhelming. Perhaps since I have seen similar things before the system hit us on Earth, either in movies or even kind of in real life, it did not have the same impact.

Plus, I had just left a ship where we traveled through water to get from place to place. The only thing that was kind of interesting to see was the amount of wildlife I did not recognize swimming around the elevator as we sank deeper and deeper into the ocean.

Where a much bigger city was awaiting me.
