Day in the life…Crauz
To an Infernal, the Clan Leaders were akin to Deities in the way that they were revered and respected. They weren't quite worshiped, but disobeying the will of a Clan Leader was among the worst crimes an Infernal could commit.
The will of the Clan Leader was the Will of the Eternal Flame, and the Will of the Eternal Flame was the Will of Existence itself.
In the minds of all Infernals, there were no greater powers in their lives than the Eternal Flame, and the Clan Leaders were on the same level as the concept of chaos itself in all their minds.
It also had nothing to do with strength to a point. Of course there was no such thing as a weak Clan Leader, but some of them were stronger than others, but every single one of them would be respected all the same.
As a result, joining one of their Clans and receiving the Eternal Flame, was among the greatest honors one could receive in the world of Infernals. The problem with that, is that even the youngest Clan Leader had been alive for many millennia and her Clan had long since reached a point of stability.
After a while the chances to join even a new Clan would eventually drop to a near impossibility as the Clan Leaders did not bestow the Eternal Flame willy nilly. The connection between a Clan member and the Leader was one of family, and it shouldn't be looked down upon even if the Clan had millions of members.
So, for majority of the Infernals living on Planet Infernal, they simply lived within the lands of another Clan as a regular citizen, just waiting for a chance that may never come. And there were no wars on Planet Infernal.
The lands of the Clan Leaders were not necessarily countries and all of them treated each other like brothers and sisters, so there wasn't like wars happened on the planet leaving opportunities for more bodies to join Clans at all.
So, when word was passed around that a new Patriarch was born. Something that wasn't hard to figure out since a new Flame was added to the Eternal Monument showcasing the addition of a new Clan Leader, Planet Infernal was in a frenzy.
It was no secret that the best time to join a Clan was when a new Clan Leader was born, and in this case a Patriarch. Of course, no one, could force themselves into a Clan, and if the new Patriarch rejected them then they would have no choice to but accept the Will of the Eternal Flame in that case.
Still…there was a chance.
Every Clan Leader built a clan without fail. Every single one. Whether they did it immediately, or after a few decades, a proper Clan would always get created, and this Patriarch would be no different.
So, favors were called in, and many slumbering giants awoke from their sleep to seize this opportunity. Although the premier rulers of Infernals were the Clan Leaders, that didn't mean other 'normal' Infernals hadn't grown to power as well. Even if they never managed to join a Clan, they didn't mean they would stop growing.
And sometimes, this would continue for generations.

Clans were at the peak, but there were plenty of families and groups on the Planet that while they lived in Clan Territory, weren't apart of Clan hierarchy. They had their own goals, and conducted their own businesses, mostly off world and many other things.
Crauz came from one such family.
His father was a rather influential Infernal and had many dealings with various Clans across Planet Infernal. Over the years he had built up a lot of trust and did a lot of work thus earning a few favors along the way.
All of which were called upon to allow his youngest son, a chance of joining the new Clan. Word was spread that Matriarch BLANK was asking for a small group of non-clan Infernals to join an expedition near the location of the new Patriarch.
It was all under the guise of training of course, but everyone knew the real reason…not that it was a secret of any kind.
The new Patriarch will need support and the Infernals never abandoned their own, so this training force would be there for him when he needed it. And there would be no doubt that he would need it eventually.
Chaos loves the Clans, is an old saying among Infernals.
Once that moment came, it would be up to those of the expedition to make a good impression and seize the opportunity before them and find a place in the empty Clan. Whether they did it or not was up to them, and if they failed then that would be the Will of the Eternal Flame.
Needless to say, Crauz couldn't have imagined that not only he would be accepted into the Clan, but he also got the role of guarding the new Patriarch. He had left home on a chance granted to him by his father and a lot of pressure was now placed on his shoulders.
But despite the pressure placed on him, he would never regret the chance that was laid in front of him. Not even when his first task was to support this new Patriarch in a war against the Vhampryls.
There weren't a race he liked all that much anyway, but even if he was fond of them for whatever reason, he would collect their heads and present them before the new Patriarch all the same.
It was also during that battle that he got to see what it meant for a Patriarch to fight.
Although he was weaker than him in cultivation, he saw firsthand, along with every other Infernal who was there when Patriarch Raizen rose from the core of planet with an Immortal Vhampryls and then launch a destructive beam of the Eternal Flame towards the enemy.
It was mesmerizing and worship worthy.
From that day forth, Crauz had pledged that should he ever get a chance to serve this Patriarch in a official capacity, he would give him his life.
Then a bunch of things happened really fast.
He decided to risk it all and remain on the planet in hopes of being chosen to join the Clan, only to find out they would all be accepted, and to multiply his good fortune even more, he was also selected to become a personal guard to the Patriarch.
There was no greater honor, or gift he could possibly receive that was higher than this. Of course there was actually being bestowed with the Eternal Flame, but in Crauz's mind that would only be a bonus at this point.
He was serving a Patriarch as their personal guard!
There wasn't a single person in his family who would be ashamed to claim him as a relative from this day forth. Not that there was any.
All the favors his father called in to get him in this position was no longer just worth it, they would be practically forgotten.
This was the type of position that couldn't be bought with money.
Only fate.
But it appeared fate wasn't done with yet. They journeyed to a brand new universe where he conversed with the Patriarch more times than he could hope for, and when they landed he was humbly granted the Eternal Flame.
He had long since vowed to give the Patriarch his life, but that vow had only green deeper as time in the clan had grown.
Even now, as they descended through the water of this foreign planet, Crauz was primed and ready. This was not their home turf and they were not the strongest in the area. But he will face all ensuing threats with conviction if they dare.
Especially since Vrusha had briefed all of them that all pests are to be handled without mercy. This came after the Patriarch had dealt with what was clearly a spoiled brat and decided he didn't want to deal with that any more.
Anyone else who approached with similar intentions should not be granted mercy.
And Crauz would have it no other way.
