Nezha thought for a long time and said, "I don't have a good method for earning spiritual materials at the moment, but I might have some way for the first thing."
The Jade Emperor was a bit disappointed. If it weren't for the big mess left by his original self, he wouldn't have come to ask Nezha. However, upon hearing that there might be a proper way to solve the second issue, he perked up and inquired, "Oh, what's the method?"
"You and I shouldn't show our faces in this matter; we can only find someone to stir things up and make the matter big. At that time, we can catch a typical offender and severely punish them as a warning to others."
Upon hearing this plan, the Jade Emperor pondered who might have the courage for such a task, inwardly coming to an understanding.
The two shared a few more drinks before Nezha prepared to take his leave. The Jade Emperor, feeling somewhat helpless about not finding a suitable business, subtly hinted that he had heard of the tradition of a dowry when marrying a wife in the mortal world. Nezha pretended not to understand and made a swift exit.
Your daughter is already clinging to me, do you really expect a dowry?
It's already good enough that I don't drain your assets!
After returning to Ziwei Star, Nezha inspected with the Kunlun Mirror. Frankly, what the Jade Emperor mentioned, of the immortals raising demons for alchemy, was indeed happening. This is a tricky situation to judge right from wrong; it all depends on whose side you're on.
Originally, this matter had nothing to do with him, but since his teacher is Nuwa, he thought he should offer some help. Also, the mastermind behind this was an awkward figure, the Old Longevity Star.
The current Longevity Star is not the Nanji Immortal, but the Good Corpse of the former Nanji Immortal. When Nanji Immortal's cultivation fell, the Old Longevity Star connected his Divine Soul to the Investiture of the Gods, avoiding erasure. However, although it preserved him and freed him from Nanji's control, he became subject to the Investiture of the Gods.
Ironically, when the sky fell, he was among the unfortunate. Not wanting to be retrieved by the Nanji Immortal, he had to rely on himself. The gods on the Investiture of the Gods indeed cannot die and will have their bodies reshaped, yet none of this comes free; it costs Merit.
The Longevity Star barely covered most of it with his previous savings, but he was now penniless, worrying about longevity despite having the title of Longevity Star, positing a major disgrace for the former Nanji Immortal.
Even so, he is, after all, the top disciple of Yuanshi Tianzun, skilled and quick to spot the current opportunity: extending life.
Ways to prolong life are rare because the Immortals and Great Experts didn't bother to study it. Life span, in their eyes, is just an accessory to seeking the Dao. As long as one's cultivation advances, no one's heard of any Great Expert dying of old age—this notion is laughable, even more than falling off a cliff to death.
However, as Yuanshi Tianzun's disciple and the Primordial era's premier health enthusiast, he indeed knew a few methods. The simplest was the Immortal Elixir of the Kunlun Queen Mother, effective in just one dose with no other side effects. However, he dared not go near Kunlun now, much less since losing the halo of a Chan Sect disciple; the Queen Mother wouldn't heed him.
After much contemplation, he found another way, which was refining medicine. As for the raw materials...
Nezha, having investigated for a while, found himself reminded of the Golden Phoenix Egg when approaching Old Longevity Star. Entering a stable integration phase, Nezha planned to personally deliver it to Yuxu Palace.
Since Yuanshi Tianzun left, the Yuxu disciples, cursed by the pseudo-Demon God, laid stagnant for years. Nezha seized this chance to visit.
Nezha settled some affairs with Daji and others, then embarked leisurely. Gazing at majestic Kunlun, he chuckled, recalling his first visit.
Back then, he was indeed fearless.
"Disciple Li Nezha, answering the Saint's request, returns the Golden Phoenix Egg."
His voice wasn't loud, yet resonated throughout Kunlun. Soon, Child Bai He hurried over to greet him: "Bai He greets Junior Master."
"Nephew, no need for formality, I'm here upon Yuan Shi Master's invitation to deliver the senior Golden Phoenix."
He raised a hand, revealing an egg shimmering faintly with Golden Light, and held a Jade Token given by Yuanshi Tianzun upon his call to Kunlun.
A Saint's artifact cannot be faked. Additionally, Bai He, originally belonging to the Phoenix Clan under the Qingluan's jurisdiction, had some ties to the clan, deepening with current circumstances.
He courteously said, "Junior Master, please follow me."
Then led Nezha into Kunlun. Kunlun Mountain is indeed a prosperous land; otherwise, Pangu wouldn't have placed The Three Pure Ones there. As he walked and observed, everything seemed harmonized with the Heavenly Dao.
Nezha was received at Yuxu Palace by Nanji Immortal, due to most Chan Sect disciples lying inactive, leaving luckier ones working outside, while Nanji Immortal, often seen slacking, oversaw Yuxu Palace's duties.
Child Bai He handled most operations, with him mainly appearing when visitors arrived. Despite his current weak cultivation, he remains Yuan Shi Venerable's foremost disciple, owning the status.
Disdain brewed between the two; Nanji Immortal didn't need to heed Nezha's face, and Nezha would never indulge him. Enmity arose from Nanji Immortal's arrogance, leading to Nezha, leveraging the Heavenly Dao, forcibly severing his Great Dao—a clear victory.
"Junior Brother, since Golden Phoenix Daoist Friend is delivered, head back if there's nothing else."
Nanji Immortal felt vexed by Nezha's presence, preoccupied with refining his cultivation. Nezha was unfazed, believing a victor should greet a loser boldly!
"No rush, no rush. I used to come to Yuxu Immortal Palace hastily; now, I want to thoroughly tour it."
Nanji Immortal's face darkened. Yuxu Palace is a very ceremonial place, and now that Nezha, the 'guest', hadn't left, the 'host' Nanji Immortal couldn't depart; such were Yuxu Palace's customs.
Despite Yuanshi Tianzun's absence, none dared flout them.
Assume a Saint a fool, and you'd be the greatest fool.
Nezha began speaking as a bold victor.
"Senior Brother Nanji, your cultivation has certainly advanced, nearing the middle stage of Golden Immortal. Quite swift indeed."
"Senior Brother Nanji, past issues between us were mere misunderstandings. Rest assured, I no longer mind."
"Senior Brother Nanji, I've reached Daluo Cultivation. If senior brother is uncertain about anything, I shall gladly share my knowledge!"
Nanji Immortal, distressed under Nezha's barrage, flushed red with frustration, the veins bulging on his forehead about to burst.
"Junior Brother, I see you're in rosy spirits. There must be good news!"
Nanji Immortal held back, replying, "If Junior Brother has no business, heading back soon would be my best news."
"Small-minded, Senior Brother Nanji, too narrow visioned. Now with Saints absent, an extended stay here from me showcases our camaraderie as Saint disciples, exhibiting our united familial ideology to outsiders."
Nanji Immortal silently fumed, 'Who the hell considers you family? This plight of mine stems from your blameworthy actions. Yet now, you dare taunt face-to-face, hypocritically patronizing this elder, simply despicable!'
No matter how angry he felt, he couldn't show it, since Nezha was upon Yuanshi Tianzun's request. None could prompt his departure; they must serve him amiably.
Resided at Biyou Palace, stayed at Nuwa Palace, visited Doushuai Temple, yet Yuxu Palace was unexplored territory for Nezha!
Nezha aimed to stay longer, purely to admire a bit of Yuqing Saint's splendor and learn.
Facing Nezha's antics, Nanji Immortal was helpless, subtly urging his departure. The more persuasive he was, the more Nezha ignored him; with no Yuanshi Tianzun there, who was he to fear?
He simply desired to taunt Nanji Immortal vigorously!
Sufficient food and drink throughout vast Yuxu Palace caused no shortage due to Nezha, just his boastful smirk and endless 'If unsure, I'll teach!', 'Are you competent?', 'Train if lacking!' remarks—utterly a soul-crushing blow!
"I, the foremost disciple of Yuanshi Tianzun, once a Quasi-Saint Great Expert at my peak—need you for guidance?"
