The First Mythical Dragon: Harem System

Chapter 218: A Successful Bait

"What now?" Jim asked as he stared ahead. Even though the night sky stretched above them, he realized he now had enhanced vision, almost like night vision, allowing him to see the whole area with perfect clarity. Even the patches that the dim streetlights couldn't cover were now visible as if daylight had replaced the darkness.

The humans down below paused, staring in confusion. Then, with a collective hiss, they turned around and began walking away, returning to their business as if nothing had happened, leaving the two odd figures hanging on the rooftop and keeping a watchful eye on the surroundings.

"We wait." Max replied calmly, crossing his arms. His natural draconic aura, amplified by Jim's newly awakened energy, spread far and wide. It was dense, tangible, and undeniably powerful, radiating in a way that would attract whoever they were hunting out into the open.

"But how long do we actually wait for?" Jim asked, turning to face Max in confusion. His eyes narrowed as he studied the dragon, only to notice a small, knowing smile forming on Max's face.

"I guess not for long." Max replied, his gaze drifting behind the newly turned dragon. Jim instinctively spun around and saw several figures steadily approaching their rooftop perch.

At first glance, they looked human—ordinary, even but a moment later, Jim sniffed the air and froze. Closing his eyes briefly, he snapped them open with alarm.

"The…they aren't humans. Their aura reeks of something else." Jim muttered, his brow furrowing deeply.

"Exactly. They are demon vessels, no doubt from the dark forces gang," Max said with a wide grin, excitement glinting in his eyes as he observed the figures approaching. Each step they took was deliberate and confident, movements calm and measured as if they were completely unconcerned with anything around them.

Soon enough, the figures revealed themselves fully. Their eyes were pitch black, shadows seeming to dance within them. Their fingers were elongated, curved into deadly claws, and their teeth slightly pointed, sharp like fangs. Every one of them wore tight-fitting black attire, their frowns deep as they glared up at the duo standing on the rooftop.

They numbered around twenty-five, standing strong and ready for anything.

Suddenly, the sound of running footsteps echoed from the left of the establishment. The duo's attention immediately snapped to that direction. Jim counted more than a hundred men dressed in black uniforms with streaks of blue cutting across the fabric. Two more demon vessels in full black walked at the center of the ranks, commanding attention with every step.

"Those in black with blue streaks through their uniforms are no doubt Ava's personal gang members, and they're all humans," Max muttered just loud enough for Jim to hear.

"Yeah, it's obvious," Jim replied, scanning the area carefully, analyzing the situation as the new reinforcements moved into view.

Farther ahead, some civilians had begun to gather, slowly striding closer, curiosity etched on their faces as they tried to understand what was happening. They saw the gang members converging in one direction, memories of a few months ago flashing in their minds when the dark forces had previously invaded their town.

The townspeople cautiously positioned themselves at the far end, maintaining a distance of about seven meters between them and the men at the front lines.

"Looks like their leader isn't showing u…" Before Jim could finish his words, a chilling, sinister aura descended upon the area. Both dragons froze, their eyes glowing as they locked on to a figure standing about seven meters away from the dark forces.

His silhouette merged with the shadows of the night, a small, dangerous smirk playing on his lips. His eyes glowed pitch black as he surveyed the scene calmly, exuding a presence that made the air feel heavy and oppressive.

'To think that two dragons would come down to this town and unleash their auras. I must admit, I am intrigued. But why should I complain? Today, two strong individuals will be consumed by me, and through their energy, I will finally amass enough strength to transform fully into a complete, full-fledged demon,' he thought, his grin widening slightly as he prepared for the confrontation to come.

"I wonder what rank I will be assigned," he thought, his grin widening as he stared ahead at the men and the chaos that was about to unfold in front of them.

"Oh! He showed up," Jim muttered before he traced his eyes back down to glare at the men below who were staring up at them with mixed expressions of confusion and hostility.

"Who are you both? And why were we pulled here by your auras?" One of the twenty-five men asked, his gaze hardened as he narrowed his pitch-black eyes at the duo.

"Oh! Seems like you guys are newbies. Understandable since one of you actually tried to fight me earlier without even knowing who I truly am," Max replied as he stepped forward, still standing tall on the rooftop. "How disappointing that you don't know what I'm capable of."

"Wait! What are you two trying to do? Where is our leader? If you are up there, then where is she?" One of Ava's gang members asked with a deep frown, his grip tightening on his weapon as he scanned the rooftop nervously.

'That is true,' the sinister demon vessel at the far back thought as his dark aura trembled slightly. 'Where is Ava? Did these two defeat her? Or did she betray me? No, that can't be it. They are dragons, which means they are strong enough to overpower her. Tsk! What a pity. I wanted to eat her in more ways than one.'

"You baited us here?" One of the demon vessels hissed, baring his pointed teeth at the duo.

"Yes, we did. So?" Jim replied with a raised brow, completely unmoved by their hostility.

"What is your aim? Who are you two? Hybrids?" another demon vessel demanded.

"Hybr… hahahaha!" Max suddenly burst into fierce laughter, clutching his stomach as he bent forward slightly. A tear rolled from his eye as he kept walking toward the very edge of the rooftop.

He crouched down, leaning forward as his eyes glowed yellow for a moment before shifting back to crimson. His fangs extended as he grinned wickedly at the men below.

"Do you honestly think that I'm something as weak as a hybrid? How totally demeaning."

"He's about to say it!" Pix squealed excitedly as she shimmered into view beside him, her tiny hands clenched in anticipation. "He's going to say it, he's about to. Come on, say it, say it already!"

"Then what are you? Who are you and what do you want?" one of the men asked with a deep scowl, adjusting his stance like he expected the worst.

Silence fell for a moment. The night air grew heavier as Max slowly rose to his full height at the rooftop's edge.

"He is going to say it…" Pix whispered, grinning widely as Max spread both arms out with confidence and looked down at the demon vessels gathered below.

"I'm Max Ashwell," Max began as he tilted his eyes to the side.

[Draconic Force Palm Activated]

His palms lit up with a fierce, blazing yellow glow. The men below immediately took stances, their expressions twisting with caution.

"The First Mythical Dragon. And what I want is simple," he said, voice rumbling with power.

Then…

Bang!

Max launched himself upward, hovering in the air for a few long dramatic seconds. All the men below froze, mouths agape as they watched his glowing hands slowly drawing closer together.

"I want you all gone and obliterated!"

"He said it!" Pix screamed joyfully as she twirled around in excitement.

CLAP!

KA-BOOOM!

A thunderous shockwave exploded outward, ripping through the air with devastating force.
