Chapter 605: The Third Shooting Incident (Part 2)

Jimmy had always felt indifferent about this cross before; even when using Heart Eye Vision to examine it, he hadn't seen it emit any distinctive energy. Now that Father Rodney said it contained a faint power, it presumably did, but he simply couldn't detect it.

In fact, Jimmy had observed the items in the Church as well, and indeed hadn't noticed any situation akin to the Evil Spirit emitting power. It could either be that Jimmy's abilities were lacking, or the Church's powers were somewhat special.

Jimmy and Julia met at the agreed location in Bronx. Julia got out of the car and handed the documents to Jimmy.

Will Scott's address is in South Bronx, Mott Haven Community. Just by looking at this address, Jimmy felt hesitant to go there.

Bronx is the least safe district in New York, and Mott Haven is one of the least safe communities in the Bronx District. In a place where the majority are African American and Latino, the two of them, both Chinese, driving there, are very likely to encounter an incident.

Of course, the incident may not necessarily happen to them, but even if it were others, it would still bring them a lot of trouble.

Mott Haven Community used to be the industrial area of Bronx. In the 1950s and 1960s, the demolition of many factories and other buildings, along with the construction of the Cross Bronx Expressway, led to the displacement of many residents in Mott Haven Community, marking the beginning of poverty and decay in South Bronx.

Now, the Mott Haven Community began urbanization around the 1980s, but residents originally in the area have experienced decades of chaos. Even though urban development took place, there was hardly any change in the population, so the safety of the entire area remained low, even around the proud Yankees Stadium in New York.

Jimmy and Julia drove to Will Scott's address. It was a five-story apartment building that appeared to be built before the 1970s, judging by this, Will seemed to come from a humble background.

Jimmy and Julia went upstairs and knocked on Will's door. Inside, an elderly man came trembling to open the door. Seeing the two Chinese, he asked in surprise, "Who are you looking for?"

Jimmy smiled and said, "We are looking for Will Scott. May I ask who you are?"

George: "I'm George. The Scott family no longer lives here."

Jimmy: "When did they move out?"

George: "About a year ago. Will and his wife went to Brooklyn; he said he found a new job there. I'm just temporarily staying here."

Jimmy: "Do you have his new address?"

George: "No, I don't. I haven't seen him in months."

Julia suddenly interjected, "Then how are you paying his rent?"

George: "No rent. He asked me to take care of the house. I can live here free of charge."

Jimmy turned to Julia, who nodded. Jimmy looked at George and asked, "Do you have his phone number?"

George looked at Jimmy suspiciously, "Who are you guys?"

Jimmy and Julia showed their credentials, "FBI Special Agent Jimmy Yang, this is Julia Lee. We need to contact Will for some confirmation."

George asked, "Is he in trouble?"

Jimmy: "No, he's just a witness in a case. We hadn't verified his identity earlier, so we need to contact him now to finalize the testimony."

George glanced at Jimmy and Julia, two young Chinese FBI agents. They didn't seem dangerous. If Will had committed a crime, they presumably wouldn't send these two to capture him?

George nodded, "Hold on a moment, I'll get my phone."

Jimmy got Will Scott's phone number soon after, thanked George, and left the apartment building. As they reached the bottom and were about to get into the car, they suddenly noticed two Black guys standing not far away by the roadside, staring at Jimmy's battle-scarred Suburban.

Jimmy stared at them for a few seconds before opening the car door, getting in, and driving away with Julia.

It seemed like the Suburban had caught their attention. In a place like Mott Haven Community, a Suburban with Federation license plates meant that FBI personnel were nearby. They were probably keeping surveillance. Old George upstairs would be unlucky; he might get harassed by these people.

Although Jimmy guessed the possible developments afterward, he didn't stop to cause trouble for them. That would only make things more chaotic. As long as old George explained honestly to these gang members about their investigation, it should be fine. If Jimmy acted, things could get deadly.

While driving, Jimmy called Julia, "Julia, head back to the office first, have someone locate this phone number. I'll visit Sea Eagle Bar, get confirmation from old Sea Eagle if this number is Will's, interrupted earlier, forgot to ask."

Julia: "Okay, what do we do next?"

Jimmy thought for a moment, "First, confirm his location, and also check if he has any other properties."

Julia: "Understood."

They parted ways, Julia headed to Manhattan, while Jimmy drove directly to Brooklyn. By the time he arrived at the bar, old Sea Eagle was already waiting for him at the door. It wasn't yet opening time for the bar. Jimmy had called old Sea Eagle to notify him while on the way over; although it made old Sea Eagle quite uncomfortable, he didn't complain.
