North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 641: Fishing

Jimmy took out his disposable phone and dialed Justin's number, but no one answered. He checked the time. Well, he must still be sleeping now. Let's wait until the afternoon.

It's been a long time since Jimmy called Justin. He really forgot that Justin usually sleeps in the mornings and only wakes up in the afternoon. His routine is indeed different from others, but it's quite similar to Woody's at Jimmy's bar.

Jimmy's bar isn't open 24 hours—it's operational from afternoon till night, with most other times being downtime. Hmm, if Justin came to New York, he might have some common topics with Woody.

The internal management of Jimmy's bar is mostly handled by Woody, while external business contacts are managed by Isaac, the manager. Their partnership is quite good; each performs their own duties without interfering with each other, allowing them to take turns resting, preventing anyone from becoming bored by staying at the bar for too long.

Justin and Woody are quite similar. They'll either be dressed in a neat suit or in a black and white bartender outfit, meticulously groomed from head to toe, and both are very skilled at mixing drinks. However, they look different: Justin is relatively more handsome, while Woody seems more mature.

Is it possible that the bartender profession is jinxed? Both Justin and Woody are single, not married, and without a steady girlfriend... If one were to use either of them as a best man, would it have any effect? Catching the single disease wouldn't be good. Actually, apart from being older, they don't have any other shortcomings, and their looks are quite good.

In the afternoon, Jimmy checked the time, intending to call Justin. His phone rang, and he answered: "Mark, what's up?"

Mark: "Jimmy, we've made some progress here, and I need to update you. We received news this morning that Neil's friend called him, saying he almost got kidnapped but managed to escape. We've just brought him in, and we're investigating surveillance footage related to the attempted kidnapping, which should soon yield results."

Jimmy: "Kidnapping? Is it Falcknei?"

Mark: "I heard Mahong and the others called him Polk."

Jimmy: "That's correct; he's called Falcknei. Polk is a term for a middleman, not his real name."

Mark: "Yeah, Neil and this Falcknei are currently in a safe house in Brooklyn. Mahong and I are on our way back to the office."

Jimmy: "OK, I'll wait for your update."

It seems Jimmy's previous estimation was wrong. They used this Falcknei as a middleman to sell art pieces, but he was taken out, and the art pieces were lost too. They must be seeking Falcknei to confirm what happened. If they clearly knew that those people were taken out by the FBI, they surely wouldn't trouble the middleman now.

Jimmy previously thought the gunmen taken out were mercenaries, and they wouldn't cause trouble for those who died. But it seems now, because they acted quickly, the middleman hasn't contacted them yet, causing a misjudgment on their side, thinking it was a double-cross.

If it were a double-cross, it's possible mercenaries would come to New York to do the job, as taking out the other party would allow them to continue the double-cross and gain considerable revenue.

Unfortunately, the ones who took them out were Jimmy and the FBI—the largest FBI office in New York. If they were to all come to the United States seeking revenge, it could become a big issue.

Now we just have to see Mahong and Mark's investigation to see what other clues can be uncovered.

After a while, Jimmy guessed they must have returned, so he got up and left the office to check in with Mahong.

He needs to confirm that if they can find clues to identify the kidnappers of Falcknei, they can quickly proceed with arrests and wrap up this case. The 7-8 pieces of art that haven't been recovered are still a hassle, preventing the case from closing. Significantly, Julia and Jones's injuries—they'll need another month or two to fully recover. This gang left both teams half-crippled.

Mahong has recently been fixated on this case. It's hard to say he isn't motivated by some personal vendetta. If it were just an ordinary art case, it would've likely been shelved by now.

Speaking of which, I forgot to visit Julia over the weekend. I should go to the hospital after work. Jimmy pondered these things while walking towards Mahong's office, arriving to find Mahong and Mark already in the conference room playing footage on a recorder.

Jimmy pushed the conference room door open: "Mahong, any news? What's up with this Falcknei?"

Mahong, focused on the surveillance, didn't turn around: "He's been targeted again. Those looking for him have excellent sources of information. He's stayed in a safe house these days. Yesterday, a client contacted him by phone to arrange a meeting today. While leaving the client's place, someone directly found him on the road, attempting to kidnap him without a word.

Clearly, someone tipped off the information. Neil and Falcknei are now hiding in another place. He doesn't trust anyone at the moment."

Jimmy: "What about Falcknei's phone? Could someone be using phone location tracking?"

Mahong turned to look at Jimmy: "If those trying to find him have phone location tracking permission, I think our investigation will be futile."
