Seth 2 clenched his fist tight, causing another trickle of silver blood to pour from the wound. Yet he didn't care for the pain, and instead let out a heavy sigh. Although his name was in reference to his arm count, as they decided, it suddenly began to carry with it a different weight.
"The body remembers... It remembers the cuts, the bruises, the burns. Every injury leaves a mark. Not all of them leave a scar, but all of them leave a mark.
When you turn your body into its soul form, it remembers how it was. Every cut, every bruise. Everything, so that it can build itself back again, just as it was.
We... You dissolved into a soul form then were regenerated. I was produced from the shattered parts of your soul. It seems since it skipped that step and didn't come from a new body outright, I was just given a new body. One straight from the source code...
DNA, If I had to guess. No scars, no marks... No lost hand. Just a fresh face grown from scratch."
He spoke emotionlessly, watching the blood trickle down his arm. It reached his elbow, starting to form a droplet. But just before it could fall, it pulled itself back up and traversed its path in reverse.
Opening his hand, the blood trail was slurped back into the open wound, which was already knitting itself back together. The blood disappeared back into his body, the skin zipped itself closed leaving not even a faint scar.
Yet even if there was not a physical mark... He could still feel that cut on his hand. The cut on the hand that he should not have.
Seth 2 let out another deep, morose sigh as he raised his head, only to be met with a confused and concerned stare from the original model. He knew what the stare was about, how could he not, but at this moment he didn't care.
Nixie stood in between them, glancing between the two identical dads in confusion - at least in her eyes, they were identical. Her eyes seem to completely bypass the scars and the missing arm, and only focus on the fact that they both looked, smelled and felt like her dad. That was good enough for her.
Seth 1 smiled at her, patting her on the head again, before shooting another concerned look to his morbid double.
"Look, First things first, we need to actually sort out what we are going to do. Proper names, how we are going to proceed with our life from this moment on. I mean I don't know how Astra is going to react to two of us being here."
"I mean... She could enjoy it..."
Seth two cracked a smile, wriggling his eyebrows and causing Nixie to tilt her head in confusion. If she were a garden, an innocent daisy would have sprouted from her head.
"Stop it..."
"Oh you know you were thinking it too!"
"Of course I was! But I had the decency to keep it to myself!"
Seth 1 facepalmed at his twins, and technically his own, idiocy and filthy mind. This really was getting confusing.
Even if Astra didn't mind two of him, for whatever reasons you can imagine or otherwise, there was still the question of what they did afterwards. Re-combing... even if it was possible, he didn't want to try.
It would be akin to killing one of them just so life was more convenient for the other. There was no benefit to it. As annoying as this new double life was... he had to admit it had its benefits.
For one, his main problem was now no more.
A few times he had been disconnected from his puppets, for one reason or another, and since they were all bound to his consciousness it severely crippled his abilities. But now he had multiple consciousness', meaning to completely disconnect him he would have to have both minds disconnected at once.
If one dropped off for some reason, then the other could just pick up the slack. Not to mention it would massively increase their multi-tasking capabilities.
Before he could lose himself in his thoughts once more, Angel appeared before the pair and spoke into their minds at the same time.
[It is highly recommended that you enter your Soul Abyss.]
Angel didn't give them anymore details, causing the pair to share a concerned look before simultaneously diving into their Abyss. Nixie glanced between them as their eyes rolled into the back of their heads and they left her standing in the room alone.
She shrugged softly to herself, looking over towards Honey.
"You said you were called a Honey Badger right?"
"Hmm... I believe that is what the humans call me, yes."
"But have you ever actually tried honey?"
"No... I didn't even know there was such a thing. Do you have some?"
The badger perked up at the mention of her namesake. Although she really had never tasted it before, just the mention of it got her mouth watering.
"Hehe, I got something even better. Mutated Honey Bees. Little bite sized bees that taste like honey! Ugh They melt in your mouth!"
She gestured for Honey to follow and started to hurry off, when a strange sound caused her to pause in her tracks. Nixie tilted her head curiously, perking up her ears and listening for it again. Just when she was starting to doubt if it was real, she heard it again.
Someone was knocking at the door.
***
Seth 1 and 2 arrived in the Soul Abyss simultaneously, however it was barely recognisable since their last visit.
Gone was the endless, pitch black abyss that had given it its name, and the planetary body of their soul was no where to be seen either. In it's place was a black polished marble floor, with tall grey walls in each cardinal direction.
The walls stretched up into infinity, with no ceiling to see, yet it had a chandelier hanging above the table, it's candles burning eternally with soft purple flames.
Ah yes, the table. It was a triangular in design and made of the same polished marble as the floor. In fact it seemed to be made out of the floor itself, as the two joined seamlessly together, giving it the illusion that it had simply sprouted into existence and grew like a tree from the floor.
Considering where this was, it wasn't the strangest idea. This odd triangular table was situated in the middle of the strange Soul Room.
Three grandiose and regal thrones made of dark wood, with incredibly soft looking red cushions, sat at each point of the triangular table.
Two of the thrones were empty, but at the third, sat Seth in a crisp black suit, the raven feathered cloak of Lord Corvus draped over his shoulders. Both of his hands were clasped together and rested on his chest as he leaned back in the chair with an irritating smirk on his lips.
"Oh hey, You must be the new guys. What took you so long?"
This was not Seth 1, nor Seth 2. Causing both of them to let out a low groan and have the same irritated thought
'Great... There's another one.'
Instead of arriving as a nebulous, formless mass of pure consciousness, they had arrived in their bodies. Both of them were dressed in sleek, form fitting black suits that showed off their new Celestial Physique and, as if to make things more confusing, they were no finally identical.
Neither had scars, and both had both arms.
Seth 1 let out a sigh, glancing at his hand which changed appearance under his will. His smooth, pale skin becoming the same black metal as his prosthetic arm.
Once they, and any non-existent viewer, were easily able to identify which was which, the two Seth's joined the third at the table. Each of them sitting in a throne at the points of the triangle.
Sat in his throne, Seth 1 glanced at the two identical versions of himself at the other points of the triangle. Both of them having two hands, both spawns of his shattered soul. He let out a deep sigh and shook his head, muttering under his breathe,
"We really need a better naming system."
And so, the first order of business in the first meeting of the great council of Seth's... was figuring out what to call each other.
Eventually, after another quick debate over who was the original, it was decided that Seth 1 - the one armed wonder - would get to keep the name Seth, while the newest member of the group was referred to as Corvus. Not just because it was what he was wearing, but were he had actually ended up.
For some reason, he had appeared within the Avatar that was posing as Corvus. He had walked him out of the throne room, got him somewhere private and then formed his body. Then simply spent the rest of the time scratching his arm until Angel told him to come here.
He couldn't understand why that had made the other two jealous. Surely they had done the same, right?
Curiously enough, despite it being the other name in their life, Seth 2 opted not to go with the name Sephtis. He claimed that they had left that name in the past, and instead opted to simply refer to himself as Scar for the time being.
Once that confusion was settled, it became clear they had to sort out the next order of business. How were they going to live their life going forward? Or should that be lives?
