"Holy crap it's finally back! I've had an itch on my wrist for months and I can finally scratch it!"
Seth couldn't wipe the stupid grin off of his face as he wriggled his fingers, staring at his regrown arm with absolute child-like glee. He would have said it looked like he remembered, but it didn't.
It looked even better!
He had always been slightly out of shape in the old world and neglected working out, but the arm before him was muscular and toned. Not bulky, but trim and keeping it slim despite the fact it was brimming with power. The rest of his body had become the same too. Astra was going to freak when she saw him now.
But first he wasn't done freaking out himself. When he clenched his hand, he could feel his fingernails digging into his palm, not enough to draw blood but just enough to feel a discomforting pain. Oh god who would have thought he would have missed that feeling?
Thankfully when he had regenerated Angel had been considerate enough to create him some basic clothes so he remained decent in front of Nixie, thank god. That didn't stop Seth from wanting to admire his body.
However there was more important things to take care of first.
He was just about to finally scratch that itch, because it was real and unfortunately not a joke, when he heard the floor creak behind him. He immediately paused, frowning softly and glanced to his side.
Nixie was standing a few steps away from her, while Honey the Honey Badger was quite comfortable sleeping on his captain's chair. So who...
Seth acted without thought as soon as he saw the scared look on Nixie's face. He whirled around and grasped at the air, summoning the [Fjord Carver] into his hand. The blade quickly began to manifest, however it didn't stem from a tattoo on his body.
Instead the ink simply squeezed its way out of his skin pores like sweat and rapidly gathered into his palm. But that wasn't the strangest part.
Before it could even fully manifest, the ink quivered slightly in his palm before retreating back into it, as if he had changed his mind on summoning it. But he did no such thing.
He quickly adapted, summoning the [Little Prick] instead, as the spear oozed out of his sweat pores just like the last, but this time completed the summoning just in time for him to face his enemy.
Seth held the spear in both hands, pressing it against the throat of the stranger on his ship, while the familiar blade of the [Fjord Carver] was pressed against his.
"Who are you?"
Their voices overlapped, amplifying the words as they spoke in perfect sync, down to the fact that they even spoke with the same voice.
Seth frowned in confusion as he stood over the stranger, holding his spear tight as he looked down at his own face. A face that was still suffering from the burns that the Lightbringer had given him, half that face being twisted and warped skin with a glassy white eye to accompany it.
This stranger with his face also, for some reason, only had one arm.
However, at the same time, Seth also frowned in confusion as he sat on his knees, holding his sword up against the throat of the stranger with his face. A face that was not suffering from the burns of the Lightbringer.
In fact it was utterly perfect, not just regaining the smooth and unblemished skin of his former beauty, but it seemed the evolution had increased his attractiveness. Which was already a staggering amount of sheer handsomeness, in his completely unbiased opinion.
Not to mention in an even more unfair move, this poor and stupidly handsome imitation of him had both arms while he was still missing his. Whatever had tried to copy him clearly didn't focus on such basic details. Idiot.
While the two of them stood in their stalemate, a soft and anxious voice came from the side and attracted both of their attention.
"Dad...? Which one is... you?"
"I'm me."
They turned to Nixie and spoke in unison again, before whipping their heads back to face each other. Sharing the same utterly offended look.
"You? You're the Imposter. I'm the real one. Don't be absurd. Stop copying me! Banana! Ardvark! Space Man! Flimble flamble flibble wibble."
The narrowed their eyes at each other, giving each other the same suspicious and curious look as their blades lowered from each others throats. The one armed Seth slowly climbed to his feet while the other Seth took a few steps back.
They stared at each other, beginning to circle each other like predators sizing up their prey. Without coordination or a single word exchanged between them. They both stopped at the exact same second. Their hands shot out, as if they were playing Rock, Paper, Scissors as both of them played Scissors, Papers, Scissors again and finally Gun.
Which was not an official item allowed by the rules, yet they still simultaneously played it without a care for those rules.
"So... You're me? No, I'm not you, you're me. That's what I just said idiot! Hey, Don't call me an idiot, idiot!
Okay, this is getting ridiculous and extremely annoying. Just one of us talk. I'll be Seth one, you be Seth two.
What?! I'm the original! As if I'll be two!"
Nixie glanced at Honey with a queer glance, but the badger continued to snooze happily as if nothing strange was going on. The young girl let out a sigh and turned her attention back to the pair of fathers, who were still bickering between each other and doing so while speaking at the same time.
It really was starting to become a joke at this point how in sync they were, and the echoing words were really starting to become annoying and yet... at the same time funny.
It got to the point where Nixie simply lifted Honey onto her lap and plopped herself onto the chair, letting the badger snooze happily on her lap while she gently stroked its back and watched the show.
Eventually, after five straight minutes of bickering, they came to an understanding of their names to help with the confusion. Seth 1 and Seth 2, decided not because of their importance or who was the original.
Simply decided by the number of arms each of them had. A fact that was still a soft spot for Seth 1.
"So... Any idea on why we are like this?"
Seth 2 crossed his arms and leaned against the wall, a simple act that drew the ire of Seth 1, who grumbled to himself as he picked up his prosthetic once again. As he slipped on the harness once more and began to fit it comfortably, he turned to his begrudgingly more handsome twin with a derisive look on his face.
"Of course I do, and because I do, so you do you. It's because of our-"
"-Shattered soul. Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Different consciousness' sharing the same fragmented soul. And because of our new mutation, the soul becomes physical. Fragmented Soul-"
"-Means fragmented bodies. Man, we really are the same aren't we?"
They glared at each other before bursting out into laughter as they kept finishing each others sentences. Seth 1 pulled a strap on the harness, tightening it around his chest, and began to slot the false arm into its socket while Seth 2 watched with a mixture of curiosity.
"Well... almost the same. Why do you only have one arm? The scars too. I have two, so shouldn't you? It makes no sense."
The mechanical arm slotted into place and immediately came to life, in more ways than expected. Seth 1 gasped softly as he curled the fingers of the mechanical hand, and for the first time he was able to feel it happening.
He rolled the hand back and forth, laughing softly to himself as even if he didn't have his real arm back, he still got the chance to feel things through the false one. It wasn't even drawing any power from the harness to do so, it was moving entirely on his commands as if it were real.
"You had two hands as a spirit... So your hand must be possessing it. Giving you the feeling..."
Seth 2 muttered softly, leaving the crippled version to admire his new hand. Undoubtedly if he wasn't distracted, he would have the same idea as he just had. But he had been overwhelmed by the thoughts of feeling once more, he still was in fact.
He just had the right distraction to put it to the side.
Leaving his clone to his wonder, Seth 2 lifted the blade of the [Fjord Carver] to his new hand and sliced himself across the palm. He winced at the flash of pain, but quickly tapped it down and focused on the arm.
He ignored the silver blood seeping from the wound and instead focused on his new power. It took a few seconds, but the hand eventually unravelled itself and dissolved into nothingness once more, leaving only a spiritual version of his hand.
Turning it over, he checked for any cut but found nothing at all. Yet when he gave his hand back its solidity, turning it back into fresh and blood, the flash of pain came with it. A cut opened up on his palm as soon as it formed, oozing silver blood once more.
