Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 469: The Reason

Theodore Hospital.

A black Ford car drove into the hospital parking lot.

Jackson and Jenny got out of the car.

Looking at the hospital building, Jackson laughed, "Do you think we'll run into Marcus here?"

Jenny rolled her eyes, "Don't be silly, his wife is staying in a maternity hospital, this one mainly treats trauma patients."

Jackson laughed awkwardly, "Haha, I was just joking, you caught me."

Jackson asked thoughtfully, "Jenny, have you ever thought about getting married?"

"Yes, how could I not think about it? Dating, engagement, marriage, having children...

Many people think that's how life is supposed to be.

But the premise is having the right person, and I've never been lucky in that regard." Jenny frowned, asking back, "What's up with you today? Suddenly asking this?"

Jackson shook his head, "I don't know either, maybe Marcus getting married and having a kid made me feel a bit reflective."

Jenny nodded, "It's not just you; Marcus surprised me too in that regard.

The old Marcus was a player, changing girlfriends every few months, or rather, girl flings. I always thought he was a jerk and never imagined he would get married.

But from this recent situation, he's shown he's not bad at heart and is a responsible person.

Having the courage to take on the heavy burden of a family is not an easy thing."

Jackson nodded, "You're right; I don't have that kind of courage."

Jenny looked curious, "Have you talked to your family about it? You know what I mean."

Jackson seemed a bit discouraged, "Honey, can we not talk about this? Although this is a free country, discussing these things with family isn't as easy as one might imagine."

"I know." Jenny made a zipping motion across her lips, "Little William Moses is staying in room 309 of the hospital, let's head straight up."

"Knock knock..."

The two found room 309 and knocked on the door.

"Come in." A man's voice responded from inside.

They pushed the door open and entered the hospital room. The room was about 200 square feet, equipped with a private bathroom and television, with two hospital beds inside. A Black man was lying on the bed by the wall.

The bed nearer the door was empty.

The Black man pointed at Jackson and Jenny, "Hey, who are you looking for? I don't seem to know you; maybe you're in the wrong room?"

Jackson asked, "Is Little William Moses staying in this room?"

The Black man smirked, "Yes, that kid sleeps in the bed by the door. He doesn't talk much, didn't even tell me his name."

Jackson asked back, "Then how did you find out his name was Little William Moses?"

The Black man chuckled, pointing at the tag on the bed, "It's written on the tag. By the way, I'm Galcan Jot."

"Hello, Galcan," Jackson replied perfunctorily, looking down at the bed near the door, which indeed had Little William Moses' name on it, "Buddy, do you know where he went?"

"He didn't even tell me his name; do you think he'd tell me where he went?

He moved in yesterday, spoke no more than three sentences to me, which is actually fine, as I don't really want to suddenly gain a white friend.

Besides, it's peaceful here, good for recovery."

Galcan looked at Jackson and Jenny, asking back, "Who are you two? His friends? You don't seem like it."

Jenny asked, "When did Little William Moses leave?"

Galcan shrugged, "You guys haven't told me who you are yet. I've answered your questions, but you haven't answered mine; that's not fair.

So, I refuse to answer."

Jackson finally understood why Little William Moses didn't speak to him. This guy was a chatterbox. He flashed his badge and said, "I'm Jackson, an agent from the Robbery and Murder Department.

This is my colleague, Jenny."

Galcan's eyes widened, "Is he a criminal? Are you here to arrest him? Is that why he ran? Doesn't that mean I was in danger before?

Oh my God, I was sharing a room with a criminal."

Jackson interrupted him, "He's a victim in a shooting case; we're here to ask for his help with the investigation and to identify the shooter."

Galcan waved his hands, "A shooting case, I hate shootings. No wonder the poor guy was so quiet; he must have been terrified."

Jackson interrupted him again, "Buddy, what time did Little William Moses leave the room?"

"It seemed to be around eight in the morning. Yes, I was video chatting with my mom then, and she was surprised I had a white roommate.

She lives in Atlanta." Galcan flashed an understanding look.

Jackson also found this guy a bit too talkative. Glancing at his watch, it was already past one in the afternoon, meaning Little William Moses had been gone for over five hours.

"Did he return to the room after leaving?"

"No."

"Did he leave with his belongings?"

"I don't think so. The cabinet against the wall is his; you can check it yourselves."

Jackson opened the metal cabinet to check, finding clothes, a backpack, and some personal items inside.

Jenny walked to the bedside to check, looked through the bedside table, and asked, "Did he leave alone or was someone here to see him?"
