Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 480: Back on Track (Part 3)

"Why exactly have you come to my house? If you don't explain, I'll have to ask you to leave."

Luke said, "We want to know more about Isa Redman."

"Then why don't you just go directly to her, instead of coming to my house to ask questions? It feels odd to me."

Luke stared at his expression, "Isa Redman has been kidnapped."

"What? Kidnapped!

Oh my God, are you serious?" Rodney Jacob showed a shocked expression, which Luke felt wasn't faked.

"Yes, that's why we're here. When was the last time you saw her?"

Rodney Jacob thought for a moment, sighed, "March 11th."

"Exact time? Where did you meet? What did you do?"

"Hey, I really don't like this kind of questioning. Do I need to call a lawyer?"

Little Black glanced around, whispered, "Man, Isa Redman has been kidnapped, every minute of delay is more danger.

Do you want your lawyer to cause her death?"

"Listen, her kidnapping has nothing to do with me."

"We didn't say it was related to you, we're just investigating her whereabouts before the disappearance." Luke raised an eyebrow, pointing to the police car outside, "If we thought it was related to you, you would already be in the patrol car."

"You just need to recount the meeting and interactions with Isa Redman."

Rodney Jacob thought for a moment and stepped aside, "Come in, please."

Luke and Little Black entered Rodney Jacob's house, the living room was luxuriously decorated.

Little Black showed an envious look, "Man, what do you do to live in such a nice house?"

"You should ask what my dad does." Rodney Jacob pointed at the photo on the coffee table, "This is our picture together."

Little Black glanced at the photo, "Matry Jacob, a receiver for the Rams, I remember watching his games as a teenager, then I never saw him again."

"He's retired, probably vacationing on some island now." Rodney Jacob sat on the sofa, "OK, let's talk about Isa Redman. When was she kidnapped?"

"That's what we're investigating." Luke explained to lower his guard, "We are gathering information from Isa Redman's friends, you are one of them.

That's why we are asking about your interactions.

It's important for her, we hope you can answer honestly."

Rodney Jacob licked his thick lips, "Around eleven at night on March 11th, she came to my house.

We chatted for a while, had some red wine, and then started playing poker.

It was a crazy night.

The next morning, we had breakfast together, around nine, I drove her away."

"Did you see her after that?"

"No."

"Are you still in contact?"

"No, I tried contacting her, but couldn't reach her. I thought I'd been blocked."

"You separated with Isa Redman on the morning of March 12th, and it's already the evening of March 14th.

After not being able to reach her for so long, as her boyfriend aren't you worried? Did you think about reporting it?"

"No, I'm not her boyfriend.

I admit... we had a great time together, we did, just did, but hadn't defined our relationship.

I... thought she wasn't satisfied that night, that's why she blocked me.

Why should I bother with a woman who ignores me?

I never thought she'd be kidnapped...

If I knew she was in danger, there's no way I'd stand by."

"Do you have surveillance cameras at home?"

"Yes."

"Can we take a look?"

"Do you have a search warrant?"

"No."

"I refuse. I don't like people prying into my life."

Luke explained, "We're not trying to pry into your life, we just want to see the last footage before Isa Redman was kidnapped."

"She wasn't kidnapped at my house, I've said it before. I sympathize with her situation, but it has nothing to do with me." Rodney Jacob stood up, waving his arms in an attempt to explain,

"That morning, I drove her to the gym, if you want to check the surveillance, go there, not my home's.

This makes me feel offended, I really don't like it."

"Which gym did you take her to?"

"Tesro Gym, she said her car was parked at that gym, just asked me to take her there.

Then we never met again.

If you don't believe me, go investigate at the gym.

That's all I can do to help you.

When you leave, please close the door, thank you."

After talking with Rodney Jacob, Luke didn't notice any obvious signs of lying.

Luke and Little Black left Rodney Jacob's house, Little Black glanced back, "That guy is really cold-blooded, I really feel bad for Isa Redman."

After saying that, Little Black added helplessly, "But, many women like this type, they think they're cool."

Seeing Luke walking away, Little Black hurried to catch up, "Where are we going now? Tesro Gym?"

"Yes." Luke replied, sitting in the car's front passenger seat, starting to review the kidnapping case in his mind.

In Luke's view, the lack of progress in the investigation is mainly due to two aspects, firstly, the police have always mistakenly believed that Isa Redman was kidnapped on the night of March 11th, but according to Rodney Jacob, Isa Redman was still free on the morning of March 12th.

The kidnapping time isn't accurate.

Actually, the kidnapping location was also wrong, the police always thought Isa Redman was kidnapped within the Mormon community, continuously checking cars passing during the time of her disappearance, but Isa Redman didn't leave the community by car, she directly went to Rodney Jacob's house, so it's impossible to find the suspect vehicle.

The time and location of the kidnapping haven't been clarified, so it's naturally impossible to find clues to the kidnapping.

Hopefully it's not too late to correct it now.
