Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 10/21)

Beverly Hills.

The home of Rossi Bill.

The ones responsible for visiting Rossi Bill were the assistant team leader and David.

The three met in the living room.

Rossi Bill was a white man in his forties with a small mustache under his nose, not very tall, dressed in a brown suit; he looked quite gentlemanly, and also very warm.

"Hey, friends from the Los Angeles Police Department, if you're here to visit, I welcome you.

But if you're here to ask about Abu Gela, I have nothing to tell you.

I've only met the guy twice in total, never spoke to him, let alone got to know him.

Yet he's the one who has left me facing bankruptcy."

The assistant team leader shrugged, "No problem, we're old friends here. If you don't want to talk about Abu Gela, let's talk about someone else.

How about Courtney Bass?"

Rossi Bill smiled, "Her acting is not bad and she's very dedicated, a good actress. She could have become famous with this movie, but unfortunately, her luck wasn't very good.

She hates Abu Gela even more than I do.

You're not suspecting her of being the murderer, are you?

She has no reason to do that."

The assistant team leader leaned forward, "Let's talk about something between men, how does it feel to play poker with her?"

"Wow... how did you guys find out? Now the Robbery and Murder Department is even concerned with poker games, are you trying to steal the paparazzi's job, ha ha." Rossi Bill chuckled.

The assistant team leader spoke earnestly, "Rossi, you're a smart man, stop beating around the bush.

You must know about the news of Courtney Bass's murder. Let's not waste any more time, hmm."

Rossi Bill let out a light sigh, "You're right, I've indeed heard some news, but Courtney's death has nothing to do with me, I just don't want any trouble."

"It's not about whether you want to find trouble now, but trouble has already found you, and we are here to solve it. Do you think continually running away will solve any problems?"

Rossi Bill didn't immediately answer, lit a cigarette, and took a drag, "I did indeed play poker with Courtney the day before yesterday; she contacted me.

My mood was not good at the time, I didn't want to see her, but she was an actress in the crew, and I wanted to comfort her a bit."

"Comforting her all the way to the bed, way to go."

"I'm telling the truth, it really was initially for comforting her. Actors in a crew keep in touch with each other, and Courtney was the lead actress. If she were to panic, the crew would be in disarray.

At that time, I still hoped the movie could be released, although the possibility was not great, but removing the male lead's scenes, it was still possible to release.

Moreover, after this incident, the movie itself already came with hype.

All I had to do was find a good male lead.

After learning my thoughts, Courtney feared she would be replaced and kept trying to ingratiate herself with me.

It was her initiative, I just..." Rossi Bill gave a knowing look.

"When did you guys meet?"

"The second day after I came back from the police station, around 2 p.m. on April 30th."

"Where did you meet? Were there any other people present?"

"We met at the Betsy Hotel, the VIP suite on the 8th floor. No one else was there."

The assistant team leader pressed, "Did you guys take any precautions?"

Rossi Bill shook his head, "No, she didn't mention it, and I didn't control myself..."

The assistant team leader smiled, "You should exercise more, I think I am much stronger than you at this age."

Rossi Bill smirked, "Thank you for the suggestion, that's very thoughtful."

"What time did you guys leave the hotel?"

"After four in the afternoon, I don't remember the exact time."

"Did you see each other again after that?"

"No, I really don't have the mood or energy to keep thinking about that sort of thing. It really was her initiative."

David continued, "Has anyone ever told you, you're very punchable?"

"Many people feel that way, but you're the first to be so straightforward about it."

"Come on, he was already being very tactful." The assistant team leader chuckled and went on, "Where were you on the evening of April 30th, from 10 p.m. until two in the morning on May 1st?"

"At home, my nanny can confirm that. She has been with me for many years, always around." Rossi Bill pointed towards the Mexican maid busy in the kitchen,

"Her tacos are really delicious, and if I weren't afraid of delaying your investigation, I would definitely invite you to try some."

The assistant team leader shrugged, "Mr. Rossi, you're all sincerity."

The assistant team leader called out the Mexican maid to ask a few questions, and she confirmed that Rossi indeed did not leave home last night.

Although she might not be telling the truth, at least procedurally there were no issues.

From the current situation, since the two played poker during the day, Rossi Bill was not a major suspect.

After asking a few more questions and not getting any valuable clues, the assistant team leader and David left.

Back at the office entrance, they ran into Luke and Small Black.

David greeted, "You just got back too?"

Small Black replied, "We got back way before you guys, not only that, but we also had Peter do a scars identification comparison."

David looked toward Luke, "How did the investigation go?"

Luke shook his head, "It's a long story."

Back in the office.

Susan gathered everyone for a meeting.

Luke and David each recounted the contents of their notes.

Small Black pondered, "It seems both suspects were just playing poker, doesn't seem suspicious."

David said, "Generally, it's the woman who asks to use protection, so why didn't Rossi Bill use it, but instead her boyfriend Peter did."
